Cyphermint, Inc., a privately owned New York corporation, headquartered in Marlborough, Massachusetts, is the leading provider of secure electronic payment solutions. Tavrichesky Bank of Russia began research in 1996 toward an eCommerce based, bank-to-customer payment processing system. In analyzing the available payment alternatives, it became readily apparent that a new approach was required to satisfy market demand for a safe, anonymous, fast, and effective payment system for the Internet. The design team began the development and implementation of the Cyphermint PayCash System in 1997. By 1998 an early version of the PayCash System was developed. In 1999, an extensive pilot project with a major international bank was successfully implemented. Since 2001, when the U.S. Headquarters was established, the Cyphermint PayCash System has been adapted and modified to comply with U.S market standards and demographics, and with U.S. Federal requirements.
