Sharon has served as our Senior Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer since September 2004.
Prior to joining Cytokinetics, Sharon served as Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration at InterMune for two years. Previously, she worked at Gilead Sciences, Inc. for four years serving most recently as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Earlier, Sharon served as Vice President, Strategic Planning at Foote, Cone and Belding Healthcare in San Francisco, a leading international advertising and marketing firm. Sharon initiated her career at Syntex Corporation, where she held various management positions in corporate finance, financial planning, marketing and commercial planning over more than twenty years.
Sharon is a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Bioscience Finance Officers – Northern California Chapter.

Dave has been with Cytokinetics since 2000 serving in a variety of roles. Since March 2008, he has been our Executive Vice President of Preclinical Research and Development, being promoted from the Senior Vice President title, which he held since January 2006. He joined the Company as Vice-President of Chemistry.
Prior to joining Cytokinetics, Dave served as Vice President of Research for Iconix Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from 1998 to 2000. From 1983 to 1998, he held various positions at Syntex and Roche Biosciences including the role of Vice President, Inflammatory Diseases at Roche Biosciences following the acquisition of Syntex. Prior to his tenure at Syntex and Roche Bioscience, David was an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at University of California, Santa Cruz.
Dr. Morgans received a B.S. in Chemistry from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Columbia University.

David W. Cragg has served as our Vice President, Human Resources since February 2005. From October 2000 until January 2005, Mr. Cragg managed his own human resources consulting practice. From March 2000 until its acquisition in September 2000 by Yahoo!, Inc., he was Vice President, Human Resources for eGroups Inc., an internet email management company. Prior to October 2000, Mr. Cragg was a Principal Human Resources Consultant at Genentech, Inc., a biotechnology company. Mr. Cragg received a B.A. in Industrial Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. David J. Morgans, Jr., Ph.D. has served as our Executive Vice President, Preclinical Research and Development since March 2008. He served as our Senior Vice President, Preclinical Research and Development from March 2006 through February 2008. Dr. Morgans served as our Senior Vice President, Drug Discovery and Development from October 2003 to March 2006. From March 2002 to September 2003, he served as our Senior Vice President, Drug Discovery and from January 2002 to February 2002, he served as our Vice President, Drug Discovery. From October 2000 to December 2001, he served as our Vice President, Chemistry. From July 1998 to October 2000, Dr. Morgans served as Vice President of Research for Iconix Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company. From March 1995 to July 1998, he was Vice President, Inflammatory Diseases at Roche Bioscience, a pharmaceutical company. From 1983 to 1995, he held various positions at Syntex Corporation, a pharmaceutical company, most recently as Director, Medicinal Chemistry. Michael joined us in March 2008 as our Senior Vice President, Business Development & Legal Affairs and General Counsel.
Prior to Cytokinetics he served as General Counsel and Senior Vice President at Maxygen. Before Maxygen, Michael was a member of the law firm, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. Prior to that time, Michael served as a patent examiner with a particular focus to biotechnology and genetic engineering at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Dr. Rabson received a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Cornell University, a Ph.D. in infectious disease epidemiology from Yale University and a J.D. from Yale Law School. In addition, he was a post-doctoral fellow at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health.

James A. Spudich, Ph.D. co-founded our company in August 1997 and has served as a member of our board of directors since August 1997. From September 1998 to September 1999, he served as our Principal Scientist. Dr. Spudich is the Douglass M. Nola Leishman Professor in Cardiovascular Disease and Professor of Biochemistry and Developmental Biology at Stanford University where he has been a member of the faculty since 1977. From 1994 to 1998, Dr. Spudich served as Chairman of Stanford University’s Department of Biochemistry. From 1979 to 1984, he was Chairman of Stanford’s Department of Structural Biology. He was elected a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1997 and a member of the National Academy of Sciences in 1991. Dr. Spudich is also a member of our scientific advisory board. Dr. Spudich received a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Stanford University.
Lee Douglas was a co-founder of COR Therapeutics, Inc. During his 10 years at COR, he served in a number of senior management positions, including COR's original CEO. Since 1998, Mr. Douglas has been an independent consultant to biotechnology companies, including Cytokinetics, Inc and Sunesis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He was a member of the founding teams of FivePrime and Portola Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where he continues to serve as an advisor. Mr. Douglas also serves as a member of the board of Affymax, Inc. and Aerovance, Inc. Prior to co-founding COR, he was a general partner in the venture group at Robertson, Stephens & Co, and was involved in the start-up of several companies including Protein Design Labs, Inc. Mr. Douglas is also a Visiting Scholar in the Molecular and Cell Biology Department at University of California at Berkeley, where he conducts independent research on cytoskeletal motor proteins as drug targets in the protozoal parasites Trypanosoma brucei and Leishmania. He received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, MCRP from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and B.A. from University of North Carolina at Charlotte. If his research project makes sufficient progress, he hopes to enter a formal Ph.D. program before he gets too old to complete it.

Dr. Gilbert was appointed to our Board in March 2004. Dr. Gilbert is currently an independent consultant and strategic advisor to life science companies. From 2001 to 2002, she served as Chief Executive Officer of Entigen Corporation, a private life science information technology company. From 1995 to 1999, Dr. Gilbert served as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Incyte Pharmaceuticals (now Incyte Corporation), and from 1993 to 1995 she was Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Affymax. Michael Schmertzler joined Kolltan in 2008 and is the company's Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Schmertzler is also the chairman of the board of PTC Therapeutics, Inc., a director of Cytokinetics, Inc. and Segway Inc., chair of the Investment Committee of Credit Suisse First Boston Equity Partners, chair of the Board of the National Outdoor Leadership School, a trustee of Phillips Academy Andover, and a governor of the New York Academy of Science. He has been an adjunct professor in the Yale School of Management since 1997 and a lecturer in the Yale University Department of Economics since 2005. Mr. Schmertzler has previously had senior responsibility for the management of approximately $5 billion of committed capital as co-head of Private Equity at Credit Suisse First Boston in the United States and president of the Morgan Stanley Private Equity Funds. He has also served as a managing director in Morgan Stanley's Mergers and Acquisitions Department and as founder of that firm's biotechnology investment banking practice and as manager of its worldwide investment banking insurance practice. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Mr. Schmertzler served as head of International Investment Banking and Sales and Trading, chief financial officer, chief administrative officer as well as managing director of Lehman Brothers Kuhn Loeb and its successor company. Mr. Schmertzler holds a B.A. in city planning, history and molecular biophysics and biochemistry from Yale College; attended the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University; and has an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Since joining Sevin Rosen Funds in 1983, Mr. Dow has helped entrepreneurs refine their great ideas and turn them into thriving realities. As a General Partner at Sevin Rosen Funds, Mr. Dow fills the role of advisor and counselor for young companies during their incubation periods, helping them lay the foundation for a fast start. He currently serves on the boards of Cytokinetics and Citrix, two public companies funded by Sevin Rosen Funds. He also sits on the boards of Limerick Neurosciences, Kabira, Plectix B iosystems, and Reactive Nanotechnologies. His empathy for the entrepreneur developed in the 1980s when he was CEO for Ansa Software and Calera.
