Jaisim Shah (48) joined CytRx in May 2009 as Chief Business Officer and Senior Vice President-Business Development. From January 2009 until joining the Company, Mr. Shah served as an independent consultant for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies focusing on business and product development. Prior to that time, he served in various senior management positions with a number of global pharmaceutical companies, including Bristol-Myers Squibb and Hoffman La-Roche AG. Most recently, from December 2008 to January 2009, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Business Officer of Facet Biotech, and from July, 2000 until December 2008, he served in the same capacities for PDL BioPharma. Mr. Shah received his M.A. degree in economics from the University of Akron.

Dr. Barber has over 25 years experience in the biomedical industry including 16 years in biopharmaceutical research and development. Prior to joining CytRx, Dr. Barber spent nine years at Immusol, a biopharmaceutical company based in San Diego , California . He served as the company's Chief Technical Officer and Vice President of Research and Development, where he invented the company's mRNA inactivation technology for drug target discovery and validation, and led a multifunctional department of over 70 people. Dr. Barber also played a major role in growing the company from a capitalization of $6 million in 1994 to $305 million in 2003. Before working at Immusol, Dr. Barber spent seven years in various management positions at Viagene, which was acquired by Chiron. At Viagene, Dr. Barber most recently served as Associate Director of Oncology, researching and developing gene therapy vaccines for the treatment of HIV and various cancers. Dr. Barber received both his B.S. and Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles. He also carried out his post-doctoral fellowship at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, California.

Mr. Caloz has an accomplished history of providing senior financial leadership in the life sciences sector, including as Chief Financial Officer of Occulogix, Inc, a NASDAQ listed, a medical therapy company. Prior to that, Mr. Caloz served as Chief Financial Officer of IRIS International Inc., a Chatsworth, CA based medical device manufacturer. He served as Chief Financial Officer of San Francisco-based Synarc, Inc., a medical imaging company, and from 1993 to 1999 he was Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Phoenix International Life Sciences Inc. of Montreal, Canada, which was acquired by MDS Inc. in 1999. Mr. Caloz was a partner at Rooney, Greig, Whitrod, Filion & Associates of Saint Laurent, Quebec, Canada, a firm of Chartered Accountants specializing in research and development and high tech companies, from 1983 to 1993. Mr. Caloz, a Chartered Accountant, holds a degree in Accounting from York University, Toronto, Canada.

Dr. Ignarro received the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1998, and has been a director since July 2002. He previously served as a director of Global Genomics from November 20, 2000. Dr. Ignarro serves as the Jerome J. Belzer, M.D. Distinguished Professor of Pharmacology in the Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology at the UCLA School of Medicine. Dr. Ignarro has been at the UCLA School of Medicine since 1985 as a professor, acting chairman and assistant dean. Dr. Ignarro received a B.S. degree in pharmacy from Columbia University and his Ph.D. degree in pharmacology from the University of Minnesota.

Prior to joining CytRx, Dr. Wieland was Vice President of Drug Development and Regulatory Affairs, with clinical and regulatory oversight of a Alzheimer's disease development program. His fifteen years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry has provided Scott a balanced approached to developing products for the market place. His experience ranges across all aspects of drug development with a focus on neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and stroke. Scott received a M.A. and Ph.D. in biopsychology from the University of Arizona and a M.B.A. from Webster University.

Dr. Ng has more than 20 years of drug discovery research experience in the biomedical industry. Prior to joining CytRx, he served as Vice President, Molecular Oncology at Ligand Pharmaceuticals, heading the oncology discovery and new product support efforts. Prior to that, he was Vice President, Drug Discovery Biology and Preclinical Development at Arqule Inc. He previously served in various senior research leadership capacities at Abbott Laboratories; as Associate Director, Scientific Affairs at Pfizer International; and as Senior Research Investigator at Bristol-Meyers Squibb Corporation. Dr. Ng has received numerous awards and honors, and has authored more than 80 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, and is co-inventor on 10 patent applications. Dr. Ng received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Purdue University and received his B.S. from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He also carried out his post-doctoral fellowship at Howard Hughes Medical Institute at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School.

Until 2004, Mr. Levin practiced at O'Melveny & Myers LLP in Los Angeles as a transactional attorney. He worked in a wide variety of disciplines including mergers and acquisitions, public and private securities offerings, corporate governance and SEC reporting and disclosure. Mr. Levin graduated from Stanford Law School with distinction, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a S.B. in Economics.

Graduated Cum Laude from Loyola Marymount University in Business and Communications. Mr. Haen assists in negotiating strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions, and in-licensing and out-licensing of product opportunities.

Dr. Hayden is an award winning, internationally renowned scientist and founder of two successful genomic companies, Xenon Genetics and NeuroVir Therapeutics. He is currently a full professor of Medical Genetics at the University of British Columbia, as well as Director of the Center for Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics (CMMT) in Vancouver; the CMMT is a gene research center under UBC's Faculty of Medicine. Author of over 400 peer-reviewed publications and invited submissions, Dr. Hayden focuses his research primarily on genetic diseases, including genetics of lipoprotein disorders, Huntington's disease and predictive medicine.

Mr. Umali assists in directing administrative and operating procedures and is responsible for corporate communications, investor relations, human resources, information systems, web site administration and facilities management. Mr. Umali is a business and psychology graduate of Loyola Marymount University.

Mr. Moschel spent the last four years as the lead financial and business consultant with Certified Contracting Solution in Colorado providing financial, business management and financial systems guidance before joining CytRx. Previously, he had served as the VP of Financial Services and CFO for Gonzales Consulting Services, a regional CPA firm and governmental contractor, in Denver. Mr. Moschel graduated with a BS Degree in Accounting from Saint Peter's College in New Jersey.

Craig C. Mello, Ph.D. received the 2006 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his co-discovery of RNAi. He is the Blais University Chair in Molecular Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS), a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator and a member of the National Academy of Sciences. His RNAi findings were recognized as the 2002 "Breakthrough of the Year" by Science magazine.

John Hackman has served as Vice President, Biometrics and Statistics since March 2003. From February 2001 to February 2003, Mr. Hackman served as our Senior Director, Biometrics and Statistics and as Director, Biometrics and Statistics from December 1997 to March 2001. Prior to joining Allos, Mr. Hackman was Associate Director of Biometrics at Pfizer Central Research where he directed the statistical analysis and reporting group from 1996 to 1997. He has held various positions during his 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including positions with Pfizer Inc., Miles Inc., a division of Bayer, Rhone-Poulenc and CytRx Corporation.

Over the past 25 years, Steve Gorlin has founded several highly publicized biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, including Hycor Biomedical, Inc., Theragenics Corporation, CytRx Corporation, Medicis Pharmaceutical Corporation, EntreMed, Inc., Surgi-Vision, Inc., DARA BioSciences, Inc., and Medivation, Inc. Mr. Gorlin presently is the Chairman and CEO of DARA BioSciences, Inc. and serves on the boards of Medivation, Inc., Medeikon, Inc., Sequella Inc., NTC China, Surgi-Vision, Inc. and is Chairman of the Board of SpineMedica Corp. Mr. Gorlin served for many years on the Business Advisory Council to The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and presently serves on the board of The Johns Hopkins Alliance for Science and Technology Development. He also founded a number of non-medical related companies, including Perma-Fix, Inc., Pretty Good Privacy, Inc., and Judicial Correction Services, Inc. He started The Touch Foundation, a nonprofit organization for the blind and was a principal financial contributor to the founding of Camp Kudzu for diabetic children. He also serves on the board of the Mercy and Sharing Foundation, providing hospital care and orphanages for over 2,000 children in Haiti. Mr. Gorlin was featured in an article on biotechnology investing in The Wall Street Journal on June 8, 1998 and in Fortune magazine on January 13, 1997.

Tariq Rana, Ph.D., has served as a member of our Scientific Advisory Board since February 2007. Dr. Rana is Professor of Biochemistry & Molecular Pharmacology and Founding Director of the Program in Chemical Biology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Rana’s laboratory discovered the fundamental rules to stabilize RNAi, and developed new technologies for therapeutic RNAi. Dr. Rana has previously advised a number of biotechnology companies including Sirna Therapeutics and has served as a member of Sirna’s Scientific Advisory Board. He received a National Institutes of Health Research Career Award in 1996. He was an American Cancer Society Fellow from 1991 to 1993 at the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Rana received his Ph.D. in 1990 from the University of California at Davis.

Dr. Rubinfeld has been a director since July 2002. He co-founded SuperGen, Inc. in 1991 and has served as its Chief Executive Officer and President and as a director since its inception until December 31, 2003. He resigned as Chairman Emeritus of SuperGen, Inc. on February 8, 2005. Dr. Rubinfeld was also Chief Scientific Officer of SuperGen from 1991 until September 1997. Dr. Rubinfeld is also a founder of, and currently serves as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of, JJ Pharma. Dr. Rubinfeld was one of the four initial founders of Amgen, Inc. in 1980 and served as a Vice President and its Chief of Operations until 1983. From 1987 until 1990, Dr. Rubinfeld was a Senior Director at Cetus Corporation and from 1968 to 1980, Dr. Rubinfeld was employed at Bristol-Myers Company, International Division in a variety of positions. Dr. Rubinfeld received a B.S. degree in chemistry from C.C.N.Y. and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in chemistry from Columbia University.

Marvin Selter has been a director since October 2003. He has been President and Chief Executive Officer of CMS, Inc. since he founded that firm in 1968. CMS, Inc. is a national management consulting firm. In 1972, Mr. Selter originated the concept of employee leasing. He serves as a member of the Business Tax Advisory Committee City of Los Angeles, Small Business Board State of California and the Small Business Advisory Commission State of California. Mr. Selter also serves on the Valley Economic Development Center as past Chairman and Audit Committee Chairman, the Board of Valley Industry and Commerce Association as past Chairman, the Advisory Board of the San Fernando Economic Alliance and the California State University Northridge as Chairman of the Economic Research Center. He has served, and continues to serve, as a member of boards of directors of various hospitals, universities, private medical companies and other organizations. Mr. Selter attended Rutgers The State University, majoring in Accounting and Business Administration. He was an LPA having served as Controller, Financial Vice President and Treasurer at distribution, manufacturing and service firms. He has lectured extensively on finance, corporate structure and budgeting for the American Management Association and other professional teaching associations.

Mr. Wennekamp has been a director since October 2003. He has been the Senior Vice President-Credit Administration of Community Bank since October 2002. From September 1998 to July 2002, Mr. Wennekamp was an executive officer of Bank of America Corporation, holding various positions, including Managing Director-Credit Product Executive for the last four years of his 22-year term with the bank. From 1977 through 1980, Mr. Wennekamp was a Special Assistant to former President of the United States, Gerald R. Ford, and the Executive Director of the Ford Transition Office. Prior to that time, he served as Staff Assistant to the President of the United States for one year, and as the Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Commerce of the United States. Mr. Wennekamp received his Masters of Business Administration in finance from the University of Southern California and his B.S. degree in Industrial Relations from California State, Long Beach.

Dr. Cynthia Rask is a board-certified neurologist who completed her neurology residency at the University of Rochester. She has over 15 years of experience in drug development including seven years with the FDA (5 as Director, Division of Clinical Evaluation and Pharmacology/Toxicology in the Office of Cellular, Tissue and Gene Therapies). She has also worked for Abbott Laboratories and Genetech Inc. At present, Dr. Rask acts as an independent consultant to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry providing neurologic and regulatory expertise for clinical development programs as well as identifying and mapping regulatory strategies for their programs.

Dr. David R. Parkinson is President and CEO of Nodality, a South San Francisco-based biotechnology company focused on the biological characterization of signaling pathways in patients with malignancy to enable more effective therapeutics development and decision-making. Until recently Dr. Parkinson was Senior Vice President, Oncology Research and Development at Biogen Idec. At Biogen he oversaw all oncology discovery research efforts and the development of the oncology pipeline. Previously he had served as Vice President, Oncology Development, at Amgen and Vice President, Global Clinical Oncology Development at Novartis. During his tenures at Amgen and Novartis, Dr. Parkinson was responsible for clinical development activities leading to a series of successful global drug registrations for important cancer therapeutics, including Gleevec, Femara, Zometa, Kepivance, and Vectibix. Dr. Parkinson worked at the National Cancer Institute from 1990 to 1997, serving as Chief of the Investigational Drug Branch, then as Acting Associate Director of the Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program, before leaving for Novartis. He has also held academic positions at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, University of Texas and New England Medical Center of Tufts University School of Medicine. He received his M.D. as gold medalist from the University Of Toronto Faculty Of Medicine in 1977, with Internal Medicine and Hematology/Oncology training in Montreal at McGill University and in Boston at New England Medical Center. Dr. Parkinson is a past Chairman of the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Biologics Advisory Committee and is a recipient of the FDA's Cody Medal. He is a past President of the International Society of Biological Therapy, and past Editor of the Journal of Immunotherapy. He currently serves on the National Cancer Policy Forum of the Institute of Medicine and is a member of the FDA's Science Board. He was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the American Association of Cancer Research, and continues to serve as Chairman of the AACR Finance Committee.

One of the world's foremost neuroscientists Dr. Burnstock was named by The Institute of Scientific Information in 2004 as the single most cited international scientist in pharmacology and toxicology during the prior decade. He has been awarded the prestigious Queen's Royal Gold Medal by the Royal Society and the titles of Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, which are among the United Kingdom's highest medical degrees. Professor Burnstock played a major role in the development of arimoclomol.

Robert Brown, CEO, founded Monroe Management Company, now known as Treystar, in 1969. Since 1982 the company has concentrated in real estate development and management. Bob is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering and received his Master's Degree in Finance from Harvard. Bob Brown is President of Arcadia Capital, LLC and has incorporated or assisted entrepreneurs in more than forty companies in Southwest Michigan. He has provided high-risk venture capital to nurture new ideas and assist the existing Monroe-Brown Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to furthering higher education. He is a board member for Southwest Michigan First and Fabri-Kal Corporation. Bob is an adventure traveler enjoying the outdoors and athletic activities including: downhill skiing, tennis, basketball, white water rafting, trekking and bird hunting.

Dr. Sue Griffith received her medical training at the University of London in the UK and is a member of the Royal College of Physicians of London. She also holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacology. She has more than 18 years of drug development experience in the pharmaceutical industry (large and mid-sized pharma and biotech companies), firstly in the U.K. and for the last 14 years in the U.S., covering a wide variety of therapeutic areas. She has worked as a clinical pharmacologist for DuPont Pharmaceuticals, Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals, and Wellcome. Most recently, she was Senior Director, Clinical Development and Head of the Clinical Pharmacology & Pharmacokinetics Group at Elan Pharmaceuticals Inc, in San Diego. Dr. Griffith now acts as an independent consultant specializing in early phase development and clinical pharmacology strategy through to regulatory filings and post-approval. She provides services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies of all sizes, venture capital companies, Contract Research Organizations, consulting companies and other independent consultants.
