Dana Automotive opened its doors in 1992. Chevrolet and Volkswagens were its brands, and Dana Goodfield was its president, same as today. Dana was always a car nut. His first car was a 1947 Hudson, owned and controlled by his father. Next was a 55 Ford Fairlane, his first real car. From there he graduated to a 1960 Corvette, and "never looked back," says Dana. His cars and trucks would be Chevys and VWs from now on. His first job was selling Buicks in Providence, Rhode Island. He worked for GM for ten years, as a district manager. And he sold Chevys in Burlington, Vermont. After 38 years doing business in Northhampton, Dana feels that the most important thing is to treat people right, both the people who work for you and the people who buy from you. Dana Automotive makes a point of hiring staff who are customer focused.
