Unica

Yuchun Lee, Chairman and CEO, is responsible for Unica's overall strategic direction and day-to-day business operations. Lee co-founded Unica in 1992 to meet the technology needs and challenges facing marketers. Under Lee's leadership and unwavering commitment to customers and their success, Unica's customer base has grown to over 800 worldwide, and its Affinium Suite has garnered top marks from Gartner, OVUM and Forrester Research. A respected thought leader, Lee was selected in October 2005 to serve on the Direct Marketing Association's board of directors. He also holds a seat on the board of directors for Axeda Corporation, a leader in enterprise software for remote services. Lee speaks regularly at industry events and has been quoted in Business Week, Computerworld, DM Review, BtoB Online, Marketing Direct, and Business Finance. A published author, Lee has contributed articles to publications like Executive Technology magazine, has written "The DNA of Smart Business Growth" chapter for the Inside The Minds book series, and has co-authored the book Solving Data Mining Problems Through Pattern Recognition (Prentice-Hall, 1995-1997). Under Lee's leadership, Unica has received top industry and business community recognition. In 2006, Unica was named for the 7 th year to the Deloitte and Touche Fast 50 and Fast 500 -- the only company to be on the Fast 50 for this long. Unica has also been listed on the Forbes Magazine Midas List of 25 fastest growing technology companies, the Software 500 -- for five consecutive years, and has been ranked for three years in a row -- as the top leader in marketing automation by CRM Magazine. In 2006, Lee received a Stevie Award for the category of "Best Executive." In 2002, he earned Ernst & Young's New England Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Technology Media and Marketing, and in 2000 he was recognized as one of Boston Business Journal's "40 Under 40" successful young business and civic leaders. Prior to joining Unica, Lee held senior-level positions with Digital Equipment Corporation and M.I.T.'s Lincoln and Media Labs. Lee holds both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from M.I.T. and a Master of Business Administration degree from Babson College.

Mr. Shone has served as our Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since October 2008. From June 2007 to July 2008, Mr. Shone was the Vice President, Global Field Finance and Administration for Cognos Inc., a publically traded performance management software company that was acquired by IBM in January 2008. From September 2003 to June 2007, Mr. Shone was Vice President, Americas Finance and Administration for Cognos Corporation, the US division of Cognos, Inc. From February 1998 to August 2003, Mr. Shone was Senior Corporate Counsel, Americas Field Operations for Cognos Corporation. From May 1996 to February 1998, Mr. Shone was an associate with the law firm of Riemer & Braunstein, LLP. From September 1991 to April 1996, Mr. Shone held various positions with the accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche, LLP. Mr. Shone received a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Suffolk University and a Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School. Mr. Shone is 42 years old.

Paul McNulty, senior vice president & CMO, is responsible for the company's global marketing function. McNulty has more than 20 years of technology and international marketing, product marketing and product management experience. Prior to joining Unica, he served as vice president of worldwide marketing at Progress Software, a global supplier of application infrastructure software. At Progress, McNulty led the company's global marketing activities, from partner marketing, lead generation and management to customer relationship programs. Previously, he served in executive positions at global enterprise organizations including Pegasystems and Lotus Development Corporation.

Peter Cousins, CTO, leads Unica's product strategy and direction. He has more than 20 years of technology and strategy experience. Cousins previously served as CTO of Itemfield, Inc. (purchased by Informatica). There, he developed the company's open source strategy and led product design and development. Among other key accomplishments, he created the company's B2B trading partner management and payment gateway solution. Previously, he served as technology director at IONA, where he served as lead technologist of the company's new products division.

Mr. Sweet has served as our Senior Vice President, Corporate Development since October 2006. From October of 2006 through March 2007 Mr. Sweet also served as our General Manager, Internet Marketing Services Group. Mr. Sweet was our Vice President of Corporate Development from April 2005 to October 2006. From November 2003 to April 2005, Mr. Sweet acted as a consultant and pursued other business ventures. Mr. Sweet co-founded Swingtide, Inc., a management consulting firm in September 2001 and served as their Chief Executive Officer from September 2001 to November 2003. Mr. Sweet was also a co-founder of Bowstreet, Inc., a provider of portal-based tools and technology, and was their vice president of business development from June 1997 to November 2000. Since December 2008, Mr. Sweet has served as a director for a privately-held on-line advertising and brokerage platform company. Mr. Sweet received a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Lewis and Clark College. Mr. Sweet is 45 years old.

John Hogan, senior vice president of research and development, manages the global development of enterprise products and is responsible for product management as well as worldwide technical support. Hogan brings over 15 years experience to Unica. Previously, he served as both vice president of enterprise web solutions and as vice president of development at Plumtree Software. While at Plumtree Software, he was instrumental in growing and managing their worldwide engineering team, and in driving new product development initiatives. Prior to Plumtree Software, Hogan held director and manager level technology development positions at Informix Software and at Oracle, respectively. Hogan holds a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University.

Edmund Ang, vice president, managing director, Asia Pacific, is responsible for operations throughout the region. Mr. Ang joins Unica with over 25 years of leadership experience in high technology companies. His career included senior vice president positions with companies such as Genesys Telecommunications and Salesforce.com. Mr. Ang also held senior Asia Pacific-based positions with IBM, Unisys, Computer Power, Oracle and Richter Systems. Mr. Ang holds a business degree from Singapore University.

Jason W. Joseph, vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, is responsible for advice and strategic counsel on all legal matters, including corporate governance, securities, intellectual property, and mergers and acquisitions issues. Prior to joining Unica, Joseph served as general counsel and secretary at MapInfo Corporation, a global provider of location intelligence solutions. Joseph directed MapInfo's global legal department where he supported management and acquisition activities, including Pitney Bowes's recent acquisition of MapInfo. Joseph also worked at Schiff Hardin & Waite in Chicago, IL, and Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP in Boston, MA, where he served as junior partner concentrating on merger and acquisition transactions. Joseph received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola University Chicago and received his Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern University School of Law.

Jon Salon, vice president & general counsel, is responsible for Unica's worldwide legal matters. Jon manages and oversees corporate governance, securities compliance, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, technology licensing, litigation, corporate maintenance, and more. Jon brings more than 12 years of legal and transactional experience working with public and private technology companies. Prior to joining Unica, Jon served as vice president of corporate development and deputy general counsel for Geac, a TSX and Nasdaq listed global enterprise software company. Prior to joining Geac, Jon was a partner in Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP's Business and Technology practice group and associate general counsel of Lycos, Inc., a Nasdaq listed Internet search company. Jon holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate University and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law.

Richard Hale, vice president of consulting services at Unica, oversees the company's staff of consultants and directs its campaign management, analytic, and integration services. Hale, who has extensive experience developing customer-centric business strategies for companies, was vice president of consulting services at Epsilon, a leading provider of information driven marketing consulting services to Fortune 100 companies. During his 20 years at Epsilon, Hale developed a comprehensive understanding of customer relationship management programs and integrated communications in the financial services, retail, and travel industries. Hale is a member of several professional organizations, including the Direct Marketing Association and American Bankers Association.

Bruce Brown, managing director of Asia Pacific operations, oversees the company's sales, marketing, and business development throughout the region. Brown works closely with Unica's management team to ensure that product strategy and development reflect the requirements of the Asia Pacific customer base and region. Brown's experience and talents enable Unica to capitalize on the many opportunities for Unica in the region. Prior to joining Unica, Brown was the managing director of Breakaway Solutions Ltd., South Asia and regional director of SAS Asia. Brown holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Georgia.

Mr. Woloson joined JMI in 1994 and is based in Baltimore, Maryland. Mr. Woloson is currently Director of Apparent Networks, Inc., Aptela, Inc., Axeda Corporation, Click Tactics, Inc., Eloqua Corporation, Empathica, Inc., Harmony Information Systems, Inc., Managed Objects Solutions, Inc., Panorama Software, Ltd. and Unica Corporation. Mr. Woloson's past JMI investment experience includes Astrum Software Corporation, NEON Systems, Inc., Network Intelligence Corporation, Primax Recoveries, Inc., Qiave Corporation and Transcentive, Inc. Prior to joining the Firm in 1994, Mr. Woloson was a Financial Analyst in the Technology Group at Alex. Brown. Prior to Alex. Brown, Mr. Woloson was a Fixed Income Analyst at Kidder Peabody International, Inc. in London. Mr. Woloson graduated from Harvard University.

Jim Perakis has served as one of our directors since February 2000. Since October 2001, Mr. Perakis has served as chairman of Netkey, Inc., a provider of self-service software. From 1985 to 1998, he was chief executive officer of Hyperion Software Corporation, a provider of enterprise financial management and planning software.

Aron J. Ain has served as one of our directors since August 2005. Aron Ain was named chief executive officer and a member of Kronos' board of directors in October 2005. From April 2002, Mr. Ain had served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Kronos Incorporated, a provider of workforce management solutions. Mr. Ain has been employed at Kronos Incorporated since 1979 and has been an executive officer since 1988. During the period 1979 to 2002, Mr. Ain has served in various senior management roles at Kronos Incorporated, including as vice president, worldwide sales and service from November 1998 to April 2002.

Gary Haroian has served on the Network Engines board of directors since June 2003. He also works as a consultant and advisor to technology companies. Most recently, Gary served as chief financial officer, chief operating officer and interim chief executive officer at Bowstreet Software. Previously, he served as senior vice president of finance and administration and chief financial officer at Concord Communications Inc. and held executive positions at Stratus Technologies Inc. Gary also serves as director for Aspen Technology, Inc. and Silverback Technologies, Inc.

Louis Hernandez, Jr., has served as one of our directors since May 2009. Mr. Hernandez serves as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Open Solutions Inc. In addition to his leadership duties at Open Solutions, he serves on the board of HSBC North America Holdings Inc., the North American holding company for the consumer lending arm and principal banking subsidiaries in the U.S. and Canada of one of the largest banking and financial services organizations in the world. He also serves on the board of directors of HSBC USA Inc., an indirectly-held wholly-owned subsidiary of HSBC North America Holdings Inc. and one of the 10 largest bank holding companies in the U.S. by assets, and its principal subsidiary, HSBC Bank USA, N.A. Mr. Hernandez also serves on the board of Avid Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: AVID). Additionally, he has served in numerous governor-appointed executive roles on key economic and technology boards in Connecticut, as vice chair of the Governor's Council on Economic Competitiveness and Technology, as chair of the Connecticut Technology Council, and as vice chair of the Commission for Educational Technology.
