Prior to joining Deltagen in 1999, Dr. Driscoll was a patent and intellectual property attorney with the law firm of Pillsbury Madison & Sutro LLP. Dr. Driscoll received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the California Institute of Technology and his J.D. from Loyola Law School.

Janet Carminati, Ph.D., oversees the Client Management group at BioConvergence. She received her BA and PhD degrees in Biology from UC Berkeley and MIT, respectively, and did her post-doctoral research studies at Stanford University. She has experience in startup biopharmaceutical companies from both the scientific and business perspectives. Afer moving from a scientific position overseeing a molecular biology group, she gained experience within the client management and business development functions at several startup companies. She has worked with a variety of biotechnology and pharmaceutical clients and last served as Director of Business Development & Client Management at Deltagen, Inc. in Redwood City, CA. She is also active in organizations promoting women in the sciences (AWIS & HBA) as well as community organizations such as Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County.

Constantine E. Anagnostopoulos, Ph.D., Director Dr. Anagnostopoulos is chairman and CEO of The Matagon Group, an advance product engineering firm. He is a retired officer of Monsanto Company and a former managing general partner of Gateway Associates, a St. Louis-based venture capital firm. Marty has 20 years of legal and business experience structuring and negotiating private equity investments. He is responsible for a number of portfolio-wide investment management functions, including deal negotiation and structuring. He has led or participated in the structuring of more than 200 venture capital investments and more than 55 merger and acquisition transactions. From 1994 to 1997, Marty was a Principal at Boston Capital Ventures. Previously, he was Assistant General Counsel for Lifetime Corporation (NYSE:LFT), an alternate site healthcare services business where he was responsible for securities law matters and for mergers and acquisitions. He was previously an attorney in the Business Department at Warner & Stackpole/Kirkpatrick & Lockhart, a Boston law firm. Marty is a cum laude graduate of Boston College with a B.A. in Economics, and received an M.A. in Economics from the University of Maryland and a J.D. from Georgetown University.

Mr. Penn is also a Senior Partner of Meridian Capital Partners, a Radnor, PA based private equity firm. He has over 25 years? experience in starting, managing, and financing high growth companies in the Mid-Atlantic region and nationally. Before joining Meridian, he was a Partner at Boston Millennia Partners, a $700 million venture firm focusing on technology investing with an emphasis in life science and healthcare. From 1994 to 1998, Mr. Penn was President and CEO of Tektagen, Inc., a leading contract services firm serving the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, which was successfully sold to Charles River Laboratories, Inc. Prior to Tektagen, he was President of Independence Ventures, Inc., a firm that specialized in starting and building high-potential, technology-based companies. Earlier in his career he held several positions in industry and venture capital. Mr. Penn is the founder of the Entrepreneurs? Forum of Greater Philadelphia. He also served as President of the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Association and was Co-Chair of Pennsylvania?s Technology 21 Biotechnology Network among other community activities. Mr. Penn holds BS degrees from MIT in metallurgy and materials science and in industrial management, an MBA from Stanford, and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. William A. Scott has extensive research and management experience in both biotechnology and large pharmaceutical companies. Bill was previously Chief Executive Officer of Physiome Sciences, Inc., a company whose mission is to help pharmaceutical companies develop better drugs faster through the use of biological simulations. Prior to that, he held various senior level positions at Bristol-Myers Squibb ( BMS ) including Senior Vice President, Exploratory and Drug Discovery Research at BMS Pharmaceutical Research Institute from 1990 through 1996. During this period, he oversaw the submission of over 70 new chemical entities for development as new therapeutic agents. He consults or serves as a member of the board of directors of several biotechnology companies, including serving on the boards of publicly-traded AtheroGenics, Inc., Deltagen, Inc. and Variagenics, Inc. Bill holds a B.S. in Chemistry from University of Illinois and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the California Institute of Technology. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the Rockefeller University, where he has been affiliated since 1969.
