H is early career was spent in the national security field until he led the company’s move into commercial markets during the 1990s. H e has held most senior management posts within the company and was appointed Chief Executive at the time of the management buy-out from the founder in 1997. H e then led the G roup’s flotation on the London S tock Exchange in April 2002.
