J. Larry Nichols, 66, is a co-founder of Devon and has been a director since 1971. He was named chairman of the board of directors in 2000 and serves as chairman of the Dividend Committee. Nichols served as president from 1976 until 2003 and has been chief executive officer since 1980. Nichols serves as a director of Baker Hughes Inc. and Sonic Corp. Nichols has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geology from Princeton University and a law degree from the University of Michigan.

Mr. Heatly, 53, holds the position of Senior Vice President – Accounting and Chief Accounting Officer. Prior to joining Devon in 1989, Mr. Heatly was associated with Peat Marwick Main & Co. (now KPMG LLP) in Oklahoma City with various duties, including Senior Audit Manager. He is a Certified Public Accountant, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants. He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Accountancy degree from the University of Oklahoma.

Download picture > Darryl G. Smette Executive Vice President, Marketing and Midstream Darryl G. Smette, 61, was elected to the position of executive vice president, Marketing and Midstream, in 1999. Smette previously held the position of vice president, Marketing and Administrative Planning. His marketing background includes 15 years with Energy Reserves Group Inc./BHP Petroleum (Americas) Inc. He is also an oil and gas industry instructor, approved by the University of Texas Department of Continuing Education. Smette is a member of the Oklahoma Independent Producers Association, Natural Gas Association of Oklahoma and the American Gas Association. He holds an undergraduate degree from Minot State University and a master’s degree from Wichita State University.

Mr. Hager, 52, holds the position of Executive Vice President – Exploration and Production, and has been with the Company since March 2009. From 2007 until joining the Company, Mr. Hager served as a member of the Board of Directors. From 1999 to 2006, Mr. Hager was employed by Kerr-McGee Corporation, serving in various capacities, most recently as Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Hager has a Bachelor of Science degree in Geophysics from Purdue University and a Masters degree in Business Administration from Southern Methodist University. Mr. Hager also serves as a director of Pride International, Inc.

Frank W. Rudolph, 52, was elected to the position of executive vice president, Human Resources, in 2007. In the seven years prior to joining Devon, Rudolph was vice president Human Resources for Banta Corporation, an international printing and supply chain management company with 9,000 employees. His career in human resources began at R. R. Donnelly & Sons and spans more than 25 years. Rudolph has also held human resources management positions at SANWA-Overhead Door Corp., US West Communications, Clark Refining and Marketing, Inc., James River Corporation and Tenneco Packaging. Rudolph holds a Bachelor of Science degree in administration from Illinois State University and a master’s degree in industrial relations and management from Loyola University.

Lyndon C. Taylor, 50, was elected to the position of executive vice president and general counsel in February 2007. Taylor had served as Devon’s deputy general counsel since August 2005. Prior to joining Devon, Taylor was with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP for 20 years, most recently as managing partner of the Houston office’s energy practice. He is admitted to practice law in Oklahoma and Texas. Taylor holds a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering from Oklahoma State University and a law degree from the University of Oklahoma.

R. Alan Marcum, 42, was elected to the position of executive vice president, Administration, in 2008. Marcum has been with Devon since 1995, and most recently held the position of vice president and controller. Marcum is responsible for office administration, information technology, project management, and records management. Prior to joining Devon, Marcum was employed by KPMG Peat Marwick (now KPMG LLP) as a senior auditor. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from East Central University, majoring in accounting and finance. Marcum is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Oklahoma State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

William F. Whitsitt, 64, was elected to the position of executive vice president, Public Affairs, in August 2008. Prior to joining Devon, Whitsitt spent 11 years in Washington D.C. as a public affairs consultant representing a broad range of clients including Devon. Whitsitt previously served as director of governmental affairs for one of the world’s largest law firms and held the position of vice president of worldwide marketing and public affairs for Oryx Energy Co. He has served as chief of staff to a U.S. Senator and as a legislative assistant in the Senate and House of Representatives. Whitsitt holds a doctoral degree in Public Administration from George Washington University.

Mr. Foster, 50, holds the position of Senior Vice President – Central Division. Mr. Foster joined Devon in 2000 with the acquisition of Santa Fe Snyder Corporation. He began his professional career in 1981 with Gulf Oil (later Chevron Corporation) and held positions in New Orleans, Louisiana and Houston and Midland, Texas, before joining Santa Fe Energy Resources in 1999. Mr. Foster holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from West Virginia University. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Mr. DeCarlo, 52, serves as Senior Vice President - Western Division. Mr. DeCarlo joined Devon in 2000 when the Company acquired Santa Fe Snyder Corporation. He began his professional career in 1978 with Tenneco Oil Company in Oklahoma City. In 1989 he joined Santa Fe Energy Resources as an engineering manager, and during his 11 year tenure with Santa Fe, Mr. DeCarlo held management positions in Bakersfield, California; Midland, Texas and Denver, Colorado. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from West Virginia University. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and currently holds the position of Vice President for the Independent Petroleum Association of the Mountain States.

Mr. Kelleher, 54, holds the position of Senior Vice President - Southern Division. Prior to joining Devon in 1999, Mr. Kelleher served as exploration manager for PennzEnergy Company. He began his professional career in 1976 with Tenneco Oil Company and has more than 30 years of energy industry experience. Mr. Kelleher received a Bachelor of Science degree in geological engineering from Colorado School of Mines and a Master of Science degree in Geology from West Virginia University.

Mr. Agosta, 41, holds the position of Senior Vice President – Corporate Finance and Treasurer. Prior to joining Devon in 1997, Mr. Agosta was with the management consulting firm of D. R. Payne Associates and KPMG LLC. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Oklahoma, is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor.

Mr. Ash, 51, holds the position of Senior Vice President - International Division. Mr. Ash joined Devon in 2000 when the Company acquired Santa Fe Snyder Corporation. He began his oil and gas career in 1985 with Mitchell Energy Corporation, where he was responsible for exploration and development projects within the Gulf Coast and Mid-Continent regions. Mr. Ash's industry experience includes exploration, development, business development, budgeting and reserve planning. He has a bachelor's degree in Geology from Stanford University.

Mr. Reynolds, 48, holds the position of Senior Vice President – Strategic Planning. Before joining Devon in 2003, Mr. Reynolds served as Senior Vice President, International and Gulf of Mexico Operations for Ocean Energy Inc. Prior to joining Ocean, Mr. Reynolds spent 10 years with Burlington Resources where he served in a variety of operational and management positions. Previously, he was Operations Staff Superintendent for Mobil Oil in Houston. Mr. Reynolds holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Mississippi State University and a Masters of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Houston. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators

Marian J. Moon, 56, was elected to the position of senior vice president, Administration, in 1999. Moon is responsible for Office Administration, Business Information and Technology, Corporate Resources and Corporate Governance. Moon has been with Devon for 21 years serving in various capacities, including manager of Corporate Finance and corporate secretary. Prior to joining Devon, Moon was employed for 11 years by Amarex Inc., an Oklahoma City-based oil and natural gas production and exploration firm. Her last position with Amarex was as treasurer. Moon is a member of the Society of Corporate Secretaries & Governance Professionals. She is a graduate of Valparaiso University.

Mr. Ruder, 56, holds the position of Senior Vice President – Marketing & Midstream Division. Mr. Ruder has been with Devon since 1999, when he assumed the position of President of Thunder Creek Gas Services, a gas pipeline subsidiary located in Wyoming. He has 35 years of energy industry experience in both domestic and international capacities. Prior to joining Devon, Mr. Ruder held a variety of marketing and business development positions with BHP Petroleum and BHP Power, the most recent of which was Senior Vice President & General Manager of BHP Power in Brazil. He is Vice Chairman of the board of the Natural Gas Supply Association and a member of the Natural Gas Council, Gas Processors Association and Texas Pipeline Association. Mr. Ruder graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from Wichita State University.

Mr. Vaughn, 51, holds the position of Senior Vice President – Gulf Division. Prior to joining Devon in 1997, Mr. Vaughn spent 12 years with Kerr-McGee Corporation, most recently as Manager of the Rocky Mountain District. Before joining Kerr-McGee, Mr. Vaughn worked as an Operations Engineer for Amoco Production Company. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Oral Roberts University. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Mr. White, 51, holds the position of Senior Vice President – Investor Relations. Prior to joining Devon in 1993, he served as Controller of Arch Petroleum Inc. and was an auditor with KPMG Peat Marwick (now KPMG LLP). Mr. White is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Petroleum Investor Relations Association, the National Investor Relations Institute and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He received his Bachelor of Accounting degree from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Mr. Van Wie, 63, holds the position of Senior Vice President – Exploration. He joined Devon through its 1999 acquisition of PennzEnergy Corporation where he served as Senior Vice President and General Manager - Offshore. Mr. Van Wie began his career as a geologist for Tenneco Oil Company in 1974 and has more than 30 years of energy industry experience in a wide variety of exploration, development and exploitation capacities. He is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, serves as a Trustee for the American Geological Institute Foundation, is a Vice Chairman of IPAA’s Offshore Committee, is a Board member of the National Ocean Industries Association. Mr. Van Wie received his Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York and received a Master’s degree and Ph.D in Geology from the University of Cincinnati.

Mr. Seasons, 49, holds the position of Senior Vice President - Canadian Division, and has served as President of Devon’s Canadian subsidiary since 2004. Mr. Seasons joined Devon through its acquisition of Canadian-based Northstar Energy Corporation in 1998. Prior to joining Northstar, he was with Stampeder Exploration and previously served 12 years with Shell in Calgary and The Hague in a variety of technical and managerial positions. Mr. Seasons received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Queen’s University in 1982.

Mr. Reynolds, 48, holds the position of Senior Vice President – Strategic Planning. Before joining Devon in 2003, Mr. Reynolds served as Senior Vice President, International and Gulf of Mexico Operations for Ocean Energy Inc. Prior to joining Ocean, Mr. Reynolds spent 10 years with Burlington Resources where he served in a variety of operational and management positions. Mr. Henson, 42, holds the position of Vice President - Corporate Controller. Prior to joining Devon in 1997, Mr. Henson was employed by Kerr-McGee Corporation where he held various positions in internal audit and operations accounting in their Oklahoma City and Calgary offices. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from East Central University, majoring in accounting. Mr. Henson is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Oklahoma State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Ms. Dobbs, 61, holds the position of Vice President – Corporate Governance and Secretary. She joined Devon in 1999. Prior to joining Devon Ms. Dobbs served as the Corporate Secretary and Compliance Manager of Chesapeake Energy Corporation, an Oklahoma City independent oil and gas company. Previously, Ms. Dobbs was with the law firm of Andrews Davis Legg Bixler Milsten & Price, Inc. and Texas International Petroleum Company. Ms. Dobbs is a Certified Legal Assistant, an associate member of the American Bar Association, a director and member of the Society of Corporate Secretaries & Governance Professionals, and a member of the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals.

Mr. Mitchell, 48, holds the position of Vice President – Corporate Drilling and E&P Services. Prior to joining Devon in 2003, Mr. Mitchell served as Vice President of International Operations with Ocean Energy Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), past Review Chairman of the SPE Drilling Engineering magazine and served as an instructor at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.

Garry Varney is the Director of Procurement for Devon Energy Corporation. Devon is the largest U.S.-based independent oil and gas producer and one of the largest independent processors of natural gas and natural gas liquids in North America. Prior to joining Devon, Colonel Varney (Retired) was Director of Contracting for the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center at Tinker AFB. As the Center's senior contracting official, he successfully led all contract execution in support of base operations and weapon system sustainment, including the B-1, B-2, B-52, E-3, KC-135, KC-10, Cruise Missile program, and all Air Force jet engine support. He directed a staff of 525 acquisition professionals producing 13,000 contract awards, obligating over $3.5 billion, on time and within budget.

Thomas F. Ferguson, 72, joined the board of directors in 1982 and is lead director and chairman of the Audit Committee. Ferguson retired in 2005 from his position as managing director of United Gulf Management Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kuwait Investment Projects Co. KSC. He has represented Kuwait Investment Projects Co. on the boards of various companies in which it invests, including Baltic Transit Bank in Latvia and Tunis International Bank in Tunisia. Ferguson is a Canadian qualified Certified General Accountant and was formerly employed by the Economist Intelligence Unit of London as a financial consultant.

Jack Beuthin Ph.D. ~ Until recently, Jack was Professor of Geology and Chair of the Department of Geology & Planetary Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, where he taught courses in sedimentology, stratigraphy, paleontology, and historical geology. Beginning in summer of 2008, Jack will be a Senior Geologist for Devon Energy Company in Oklahoma City, OK. Jack is a sedimentary geologist and is best known for his work on fossil soils and on cycles of sea-level change as recorded in ancient sedimentary strata. Jack shares an equal interest in utilizing the marvelous geology of the Bighorn Basin and Big Horn Mountains to teach geology and paleontology to workshop participants. He is also an avid amateur astronomer and loves to spend evenings stargazing in the incredibly dark skies of northern Wyoming .

Karen has worked in the corporate communications field for more than 20 years and has extensive experience planning and executing strategic communications programs for the media, employees, customers and executives. She has a background in the telecommunications, energy and financial fields and has worked with companies such as Nortel Networks, Sprint, Bank One, Comerica Bank and Devon Energy. Karen received her Bachelor's Degree in Communications from the University of Texas at Arlington and her Master's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of North Texas.

David M. Gavrin, 72, joined the board of directors in 1979 and serves as lead director and chairman of the Compensation Committee. Gavrin has been a private investor since 1989 and is currently a director and chairman of the board of MetBank Holding Corp. He is also a director of Arthur J. Gavrin Foundation Inc. From 1978 to 1988, he was a general partner of Windcrest Partners, a private investment partnership in New York City. For 14 years prior to that, he was an officer of Drexel Burnham Lambert Inc.

Mr. Mitchell, age 49, served as President of GPM, Inc., a family-owned investment company, from 1998 to 2006, and as Vice President for strategic planning from 2006 to 2007. He currently serves as President of Walton Mitchell & Co., Inc., a private energy investment company. Mr. Mitchell served on the Board of Directors of Mitchell Energy & Development Corp. from 1993 to 2002.

Mr. Mosbacher, age 57, was appointed to the Board of Directors in April 2009. Mr. Mosbacher previously served as a member of the Board from 1999 until 2005, at which time he resigned to accept an appointment by the Bush administration to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, an independent agency of the U.S. government that supports private capital investment in emerging markets around the world, where he served until January 2009. He previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Mosbacher Energy Company, an independent oil and gas exploration and production company, from 1986 to 2005. Mr. Mosbacher currently serves as a Director of Calpine Corporation.

Until his retirement in March 1995, Mr. Howard was Vice President of Domestic Operations, Exploration and Production of Shell Oil Company, and President of Shell Western Exploration and Production Inc. from 1992, and President of Shell Offshore, Inc. from 1985. He is also a director of Devon Energy Corporation and serves as lead director for Southwestern Energy Company.
