When DeWitt Insurance Company was founded in 1956, Edgar A. DeWitt Sr. made customer service and personal attention the cornerstones of his company philosophies. A family atmosphere and unparalleled insurance experience made the Springfield office of DeWitt Insurance the first choice for many local businesses and families as they sought to meet their insurance needs. The family tradition continued when Mr. DeWitt's son, E. Al DeWitt Jr., purchased the company in 1978. After moving the company office to Rincon, DeWitt Insurance continued to build on its reputation of providing knowledgeable, personalized insurance services to its growing family of insureds. Expanded service offerings and the addition of numerous insurance providers allowed the company to capitalize on its status as an independent agency. After the untimely death of Al DeWitt in April 1997, Lenda DeWitt assumed the helm of the DeWitt Insurance family. More than 50 years after the company's founding, thousands of individuals, families, and businesses throughout the Coastal Empire continued to place their trust in DeWitt Insurance to meet their service needs. C. DeWayne Ladner has carried on that tradition since becoming agency owner and principal in April 2002. DeWitt Insurance opened a branch office located in Diamondhead, Mississippi in 2002.
