Jess Roper was promoted to Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in March 2008. Mr. Roper joined DexCom in March 2005 as its Director of Finance, and served as its Interim Chief Financial Officer from July 2007 through March 2008. He has over 15 years of financial management and auditing experience. Mr. Roper previously held financial management positions with two other NASDAQ listed companies and one venture funded company, and has been a key participant in two initial public offerings, acquisitions/divestitures, and several equity and debt financings. Mr. Roper was also an auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers, and a bank and information systems examiner with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Mr. Roper holds a BS in Finance, an MS in Corporate Accountancy, and is a certified public accountant in the state of California.
Steven J. Kemper is Chief Financial Officer of DexCom, Inc. Mr. Kemper has over 20 years of experience in the financial and operational management of both Fortune 100 and emerging growth companies in the high technology, healthcare, telecommunications and consumer product industries. Prior to joining DexCom, Inc., Mr. Kemper was Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for CryoGen, Inc. until it's sale to American Medical Systems in 2002. Earlier in his career, Mr. Kemper served as Vice President of Finance and Administration for ThermoTrex Corp., where he was responsible for the financial management of three publicly traded companies. Prior to that Mr. Kemper led the financial team at General Instrument Corp's Videocipher satellite television business, which grew from $50 million in sales to over $550 million during his tenure. Mr. Kemper has raised over $250 million in private and public equity. Mr. Kemper holds a bachelor's degree from the University of California, San Diego, an MBA in Finance from Loyola Marymount University, a Master of Science in Accountancy from San Diego State University and is a licensed CPA.

Steven Pacelli was promoted to Chief Administrative Officer in December 2008. In this capacity, Mr. Pacelli is charged with overseeing DexCom's finance, corporate development, managed care, legal, human resources, intellectual property and investor relations functions. From July 2007 to December 2008, Mr. Pacelli previously served as DexCom's Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs, and from April 2006 to July 2007, as its Vice President of Legal Affairs. From March 2003 to April 2006, Mr. Pacelli served as a corporate attorney with Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth where he specialized in public and private finance, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate matters for life sciences and technology companies. From February 2001 to March 2003, Mr. Pacelli served as Vice President of Corporate Development, Secretary, and General Counsel of Axcelerant, Inc., a provider of secure managed business network services. From January 2000 to January 2001, Mr. Pacelli served as Vice President, Secretary, and General Counsel of Flashcom, Inc., a provider of consumer broadband DSL services. Andrew K. Balo has served as our Senior Vice President of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance since March 2008, and from February 2002 to March 2008, served as our Vice President of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs. From June 1999 to February 2002, Mr. Balo served as Vice President, Regulatory and Clinical Affairs of Innercool Therapies, Inc., a medical technology company. Mr. Balo received a B.S. from the University of Maryland.
Jorge Valdes was promoted to Senior Vice President of Operations in July 2007. Mr. Valdes is responsible for overseeing DexCom's manufacturing, engineering, and information technology departments. Mr. Valdes previously served as DexCom's Vice President of Engineering since November 2005. From July 1999 to March 2005, Mr. Valdes served as Vice President of Engineering at Advanced Fibre Communications, or AFC, a provider of broadband access solutions. Mr. Valdes also served as General Manager for the fiber to the premise (FTTP) business unit of AFC beginning in May 2004. From May 1985 until July 1999, Mr. Valdes held positions at Racal-Datacom, Inc., a manufacturer of data communication products, in engineering management, product development and product management. Mr. Valdes received his BS and an MBA from the University of Miami, Florida.

Claudia Graham joined DexCom as its Vice President of Marketing in September 2008. Globally recognized as a thought leader in access to diabetes technologies, Claudia is responsible for all product development and commercial marketing activities within DexCom, and is a key liaison with DexCom's co-development partnerships. Prior to joining DexCom, she held multiple positions within Medtronic Diabetes including both Vice President of Global Therapy Access and Vice President of Marketing and Product Development at MiniMed, which was acquired by Medtronic in 2001. Earlier in her career, Claudia was a Director of Marketing for Parke-Davis Pharmaceuticals, a division of Warner Lambert. She received her PhD from the University of Southern California and her Masters of Public Health from the University of California, Los Angeles. She has served on various national and local boards serving the medical community including the national board of the Medical Marketing Association of America, the community board of directors for the Northridge Hospital Medical Center and the Los Angeles chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. She has been professionally active in the diabetes community for many years, having served in various appointed and elected positions with the American Diabetes Association (ADA), the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF), and the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE).

Jim Brauker is Vice President of Research and Development, managing all aspects of development for the DexCom Long-Term Continuous Glucose Monitor. Dr. Brauker is internationally recognized as a leader in the fields of biomaterials, healing and cellular transplantation, and is the Past President residing on the board of the Surfaces in Biomaterials Foundation. Prior to joining DexCom, Jim provided technical development leadership for the medical products division of W. L. Gore and Associates. Prior to joining Gore, Dr. Brauker held positions as Research Director, Senior Research Scientist and Research Scientist at Baxter Healthcare Corporation and was instrumental in the invention of a new class of biomaterials that induce neovascularization and assist in modifying the foreign body response in humans. Dr. Brauker holds a B.S. and M.S. in Biology from Central Michigan University and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Michigan State University and has done post-doctoral work at Stanford. He holds 21 patents and has been widely published in the fields of biomaterials and cellular transplantation.

Jeffrey C. Moy was promoted to Vice President of Operations in September 2008. In this capacity, Mr. Moy will be responsible for overseeing DexCom's manufacturing, supply chain, and facility departments. Mr. Moy previously served as DexCom's Senior Director of Operations since September of 2007. From October 1998 to August 2007, Mr. Moy served as Senior Director and Director of Manufacturing of Biosite, an immunodiagnostics company where he facilitated the scale-up of their manufacturing operations. From 1982 to 1998, Mr. Moy served in various manufacturing roles at Chiron Diagnostics including Process Engineer and Operations Manager. Mr. Moy received his Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania and his Master of Engineering degree in Biochemical Engineering from Cornell University.

Peter Gerhardsson joined DexCom as its Vice President of International Business Development in September 2008. For almost thirty years, Mr. Gerhardsson has worked within the pharmaceutical and medical technology business sector. He has extensive experience with diabetes therapies. Mr. Gerhardsson is responsible for developing DexCom's markets outside of the United States. From 1980 to 2000, Mr. Gerhardsson held various sales and marketing roles for Novo Nordisk, including several senior management positions. From 1991 through 1993, Mr. Gerhardsson led the Far East business for Novo Nordisk, managing its fast-growing presence in China, India, South Korea and the Southeast Asian countries. From 1994 - 2000, he was the Managing Director of the Swedish affiliate. After joining MiniMed in 2000, Mr. Gerhardsson was responsible for operations in the Nordic countries, and later was responsible for all European diabetes business units with Medtronic. In 2005, he rejoined Novo Nordisk as Vice President of Corporate Responsibility, including Socio Economics, Stakeholder relations and Social Responsibility programs. He has served as a board member of the Association of the Swedish Pharmaceutical Industries. Mr. Gerhardsson has a Bachelor of Science degree from Lund University Sweden and graduate studies in pharmacology from the Medical School of Linkoping University, Sweden. He holds a diploma in marketing and economics from the Executive Foundation of Lund University, Sweden and an EMBA from Stanford University.

Rod Kellogg is Vice President of Sales, managing all sales and commercial activities, including the field sales force, customer service, and technical support. Mr. Kellogg has more than twenty years of experience in the diabetes industry. Prior to joining Dexcom, Mr. Kellogg was Vice President and General Manager for the Diabetes Systems Division of Smiths Medical, makers of the Deltec Cozmo Insulin Pump, where he was responsible for the planning and execution of the commercial launch of the insulin pump product line and the on-going commercial activities. Earlier in his career, Mr. Kellogg helped to introduce self blood glucose monitoring to the diabetes community as a sales representative with Boehringer Mannheim Diagnostics, makers of the Accu-chek blood glucose meter, rising to Region Sales Manager, Area Manager and Director of Sales positions. He also held senior management positions in marketing and sales at Sanofi Diagnostics Pastuer. Tae Andrews is Vice President of Marketing, overseeing all aspects of marketing including strategic marketing, marketing communications, advertising, and sales support. Scott L. Glenn is one of our co-founders and has served as a member of our board of directors since August 2003. Since November 2004, Mr. Glenn has served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Planet Technologies, Inc., which is engaged in the business of manufacturing, selling, and distributing products for use by allergy sensitive persons. Since January 2005, Mr. Glenn has also served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Kanisa Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company. Mr. Glenn has also served as the Managing Partner of Windamere Venture Partners and Managing Member of Windamere, LLC, Windamere II, LLC, and Windamere III, LLC, since 1996. He also currently serves as a director and founder of GlobalEdge, Inc., a medical education company, Cadence Pharmaceuticals, a drug development company for hospital-based drugs, Oculir, Inc., a non-invasive diabetes testing company, and Conception Technologies, an infertility device company. Previously, from 1988 until 1995, Mr. Glenn served as President and Chief Executive Officer and then Chairman of Quidel Corporation, a leading point of care diagnostic business. Before serving in those capacities, from 1983 through 1988, Mr. Glenn was vice president of development/operations of Quidel. Brent Ahrens joined the firm in 1999 and focuses on investments in healthcare companies. He actively assists portfolio companies in evaluating new products strategies, financing approaches, business development opportunities and intellectual property enhancement. Brent's past and present company involvement includes Cerexa (FRX), Coapt Systems, CoAxia, DexCom (DXCM), Novare Surgical, Pavad Medical, Peninsula Pharmaceuticals (JNJ), Relievant Medsystems, Revivant (ZOLL) and Transoma Medical. His particular interests are in the areas of implantable sensors and devices, infectious diseases, and CNS disorders. Prior to joining Canaan, Brent worked for General Surgical Innovations and Ethicon Endo-Surgery (Johnson & Johnson) in a variety of sales, marketing, business development and technical roles. In addition, he worked for IAP Research, a developer of technologies for defense and industrial applications. Brent holds a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dayton and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. He is also a Professional Engineer with a number of patents related to medical technologies. Brent is also an alumni of the Kauffman Fellows Program. Recently, Brent was included in the 2006 Midas List, a prominent venture capital listing which ranks the best dealmakers in high-tech and life sciences.

Jack Lord, M.D., joined Humana in 2000 to help develop the company's consumer-centric business strategy. In his role as Chief Innovation Officer, Dr. Lord is responsible for designing innovative health plan products and leading processes that enable people to navigate the healthcare system and support their health needs. In 2006, Dr. Lord began leading Humana's efforts to establish Humana Europe. With more than 20 years in medical administration, he came to Humana from Health Dialog, where he served as president and became a leader in e-enabled healthcare. Prior to joining Health Dialog, he served as chief operating officer of the American Hospital Association in Washington, D.C., executive vice president of Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD, and executive vice president of Sun Health in Charlotte, NC. Dr. Lord currently serves on the Advisory Board to the Director of the CDC, the National Biosurveillance Committee, and the World Economic Forums Global Agenda Council on Chronic Disease and Malnutrition. He is also a director for Stericycle (SRCL) and Dexcom (DXCM). Dr. Lord received his medical degree from the University of Miami in 1978. He has held multiple academic appointments including most recently Adjunct Professor of Community Medicine at the Dartmouth Medical School.

Jonathan T. Lord, M.D. has served as a director since August 2004. Dr. Lord is chief innovation officer/senior vice president at Humana Inc., a health benefits company, which he joined in April 2000. From October 1999 to April 2000, Dr. Lord served as president of Health Dialog, a health information provider, and from April 1997 to October 1999, he served as chief operating officer of the American Hospital Association, a national organization representing hospitals, health care networks and their patients. Dr. Lord received a B.S. degree in chemistry and a M.D. degree from the University of Miami. John Patience has served as a director since our incorporation in March 1989. He is a co-founder and partner of Crabtree Partners LLC, a private investment firm in Lake Forest, Illinois, which was formed in June 1995. From January 1988 to March 1995, Mr. Patience was a general partner of a venture capital firm that he co-founded which led our initial capitalization. He received B.A. and LL.B. degrees from the University of Sydney in Sydney, Australia, and a M.B.A. degree from the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania.
