More than 50 years ago, Dielectric founder Dr. Charles "Doc" Brown engaged in research resulting in materials used for the transmission lines for early radar systems. These systems were used for radar transmission during World War II. After the war the technology was applied in the new civilian field of Television Broadcasting. Dielectric immediately began to invent and supply equipment for NBC, CBS and the newcomer, DuMont (which later became ABC) networks. Dielectric was incorporated in 1942 by Doc Brown and produced not only transmission line but also automatic air dehydrators for both land and Naval ship applications. The company s original name was Dielectric Products Corporation (a "dielectric" is a non-conductive electrical insulator). Dielectric became influential in establishing industry-wide standards of innovation for transmission line, dehydrators and other components. In 1954 Doc Brown moved the company here to his hometown in Raymond. Dielectric has had several locations in Raymond over the years as well as in Bridgton. We have been at this current location and building since 1959. Dielectric became part of General Signal Corporation in 1977. By this time Doc had sold the company to Sola Basic Industries which subsequently became part of General Signal. Dielectric s products, both dehydrators and RF (Radio Frequency) equipment are sold and installed all over the world. ...
