Dimension One Spas (D1 ), founded in 1977, is one of the world?s leading firms in the design and manufacture of luxury home hot tubs/spas and aquatic fitness systems, commonly known as swim spas. The family-owned business combines its innovations in materials science and water handling technology to bring customers some of the most advanced products in the world engineered to rejuvenate body, mind and soul. Headquartered in Vista, California, D1 was founded by Bob and Linda Hallam. In the early 1970's the Hallams were marketing a line of portable spas at a time when most hot tubs were in-ground. The aboveground spas sold well, but after conducting grass-roots marketing research, the Hallams found that consumers were looking for something distinctly different than the traditional round hot tub. After surveying their customers, they returned to their manufacturer with a long list of features people were looking for in a spa. When the manufacturer declined to stray from the standard mold, the Hallams took the challenge to go into business for themselves and manufacture a spa that would respond to consumer demands and needs. Based on their research, they produced a spa with 8 unique features not found in any other portable spa, and before they knew it, they could hardly keep up with local demand. In 1977, Bob Hallam founded Dimension One Spas (D1), the worldwide leader in designing and manufacturing the most advanced home hydrotherapy and aquatic fitness products. As the company's president and chief executive officer. Bob prides himself on his hands-on management approach - having worked in every facet of the company at some point since its inception 30 years ago. Recognized industry-wide for successfully transitioning the company from a retail business into an internationally acclaimed manufacturing company, Bob has received such awards as Entrepreneur of the Year, Fastest Growing Company, Exporter of the Year, APICS company of the year, along with many, many more. He learned in 1981 that dedication to customer satisfaction is the key to success, and he has never wavered from that vision. His hard work, determination and countless hours devoted to continually growing and successfully navigating the company, have transformed it into the multimillion-dollar international manufacturer it is today. Bob serves on the Manufacturers Council for the National Spa and Pool Institute (NSPI) and also is actively involved in political and charitable communities. In addition, he has served as president on a half-dozen boards of directors in the political, non-profit and for-profit industries. Prior to founding D1, Bob served as a United States Navy Pilot. Bob was flying off aircraft carriers in the Vietnam War. He then launched a financial career as a stockbroker with a prominent NYSE brokerage firm, where he served as account manager from 1975 to 1979. Bob received his accounting degree with an emphasis in finance from Michigan State University. During his free time, Bob has enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball and Youth Soccer. He also spends much of his free time with his three children, Colt, Cassi and Christian. Co-owner of Dimension One Spas (D1), the worldwide leader in designing and manufacturing the most advanced home hydrotherapy and aquatic fitness products, Linda Hallam serves as the company's Senior Legal Counsel. Linda was responsible for incorporating D1 in 1977, and she contributes her legal expertise, political savvy, management skills and strategic business focus to continually position and promote the multimillion-dollar manufacturing company. Linda's focus and determination for the strategic development of the company's on-going business initiative were developed, in part, from her experience as chief of staff for San Diego councilman Larry Sterling. Sterling praised and credited Linda's management skills in his book, Leading at a Higher Level, and her brand of leadership has been instrumental in transforming D1 into a world-class organization. A graduate of San Diego State University with an emphasis on family life and consumer education, Linda also received a secondary teaching credential from the State of California. An attorney for more than 25 years, she received her J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego. Linda also served as a political campaign manager for numerous high-profile candidates.
