Mr. Weatherup worked with PepsiCo, Inc. for 24 years and served as chief executive officer of its worldwide Pepsi-Cola business and President of PepsiCo, Inc. HOWARD SCHULTZ, 54, is the founder of the Company and serves as our chairman, president and chief executive officer. Mr. Schultz has served as chairman of the board since our inception in 1985 and in January 2008, he resumed his role as president and chief executive officer. Arthur Rubinfeld returned to Starbucks in the newly created role of president, Global Development in February, 2008. Arthur and his team are responsible for strategic site selection, design and creative concepting for our stores globally. Arthur Rubinfeld initially joined Starbucks Coffee Company in 1992 and spent almost ten years building from 100 stores to 4,000 stores worldwide. As senior vice president of real estate and store development, he played a major role in creating the customer experience to define the Starbucks brand. In a crucial period of Starbucks history, he successfully acquired the people, process and put systems in place to execute rapid growth. He was recognized for his strategic leadership and business development establishing alliances with many business partners including Magic Johnson Development Corporation and Barnes & Noble Bookstores. In 2001, Arthur founded AIRVISION, an advisory firm specializing in brand positioning, growth strategies and operational plans for clients, including adidas, Omaha Steaks, Oakley and Washington Mutual. Beginning in 2007, Arthur served as executive vice president, Corporate Strategy and chief development officer at Potbelly Sandwich Works, a rapidly growing restaurant concept. Arthur is well-known for his leading-edge, visionary work in the areas of retail design and architecture. These attributes made him an ideal candidtate to support the transformation of our development, architecture and design initiatives, aligning with our renewed focus on the in-store, customer experience. David joined Starbucks in 1994 and has served as senior vice president, deputy general counsel and chief compliance officer since 2002. Stephen Gillett joined Starbucks in May 2008, as senior vice president, chief information officer and general manager of Digital Ventures – a full line of business at Starbucks. Stephen leads Starbucks efforts to use technology to connect with consumers and enhance their experience in our stores. As CIO, Stephen is responsible for all global enterprise technology activities at Starbucks, which includes key retail point-of-sale technology, enterprise software engineering, global datacenter infrastructure, enterprise business & supply chain systems and other IT functions. As GM, digital ventures, Stephen is responsible for all digital, e-commerce and new ventures for Starbucks globally. Prior to joining Starbucks, Stephen was CIO and SVP, Engineering for Corbis, a digital media company. In that role, Stephen was responsible for application development and global infrastructure for Corbis’ key platforms. Stephen used his technology expertise to enhance management and search functionality of the company’s vast digital library. Troy Alstead was named executive vice president and chief financial officer in November 2008. In his position, Alstead is focused on the business and financial strategies, decisions, and execution that will deliver on Starbucks short and long term strategies. Alstead joined Starbucks in January 1992 when it was a privately held company with just more than 100 stores. Over the years, he has held numerous roles in finance and general management for Starbucks, both domestic and international. Alstead was one of the original members of the Starbucks International team, contributing to the development of the international business from the beginning. In his role as senior vice president, International Finance and Business Development, Alstead was responsible for the financial leadership as well as strategic planning and business development for the international business. Subsequently, he led the operations and development of the international business as senior vice president and senior lead for Starbucks Coffee International, and later led the company’s business in Europe, Middle East, and Africa as interim president of that regional business unit. Alstead recently held the position of chief operating officer, Starbucks Greater China. Alstead moved from the international business to the position of senior vice president, Corporate Finance, responsible for accounting and financial reporting, corporate development, investor relations, business planning and analysis, finance systems, global tax, treasury, risk management, and partner and asset protection. He most recently served as senior vice president, Global Finance, responsible for the financial management, decision support, planning, and business development for Starbucks operating units in the United States and international markets. Alstead graduated from the University of Washington in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, concentrating in Finance. Before joining the company, Alstead worked for several years in various finance, accounting, and auditing roles, domestically and internationally, for NCR Corporation and Egghead Software. In July 2008, Dorothy Kim was named executive vice president of Global Strategy, Office of the CEO. Before joining Starbucks, she served as the General Manager at Yun’s Company, a local general contractor, where she increased revenue by 100% and made all programs profitable within a two year period. Dorothy received both her bachelor and master degrees in Business Administration from the University of Washington. In 2005, Dorothy was also named by Fortune Magazine as one of their “50 Women to Watch.”

In her role as Starbucks evp, general counsel and secretary, Paula Boggs leads the Law & Corporate Affairs department, advising a wide range of Starbucks partners (employees) on legal and business issues. Since joining Starbucks in September 2002, she has been passionate about hiring and nurturing partners to grow, develop and reach their potential. Inquisitive by nature, she believes that by being curious she will learn about those she leads, understand differences and successfully work through issues that begin as challenges but ultimately result in creating a better solution. Paula’s legal career began in 1984 as a United States Army officer assigned to the Pentagon. She also worked as a staff attorney for the White House before leaving the service in 1988. From 1988 to 1994, Paula served as assistant United States attorney in the western district of Washington State and was responsible for prosecuting fraud and regulatory crimes before trial and appellate courts. Paula was a partner at Preston Gates & Ellis in Seattle, one of the premier, full-service law firms in the country, recognized for its expertise in technology, intellectual property and complex business transaction issues, as well as governmental and public policy work. During her tenure with the firm from 1995 to 1997, Paula was a trial lawyer specializing in corporate civil litigation. Prior to joining Starbucks, Paula served as Dell Computer Corporation’s Vice President, Legal for Products, Operations and Information Technology Systems from 1997 to 2002. She also supported the Audit Committee of Dell's board of directors. Paula is an active volunteer in both legal and civic organizations. She serves as a Washington State Delegate to the ABA’s House of Delegates, as Chair of the Audits, Compliance and Insurance Committee of the Johns Hopkins University Board of Trustees, as Immediate Past President of the Board of LAW Fund, as a member of the KEXP advisory board, on the board of directors of Premera Blue Cross (Chair, Compensation Committee) and Starbucks Foundation (Secretary). Her past activities include serving as Chair, ABA Standing Committee on Constitution & Bylaws, and adjunct professor at University of Washington School of Law. Paula has served on the criminal justice act panel of the U.S. District Court, Western District of Washington (Seattle) and as Vice-Chair of the Washington State Equal Justice Coalition (Legal Services). She is the recipient of the Corporate Legal Times and Lexis Nexis 2003 Distinguished Legal Service Award. Paula and Starbucks were awarded the Washington State Bar Association’s 2005 “Excellence in Diversity”Award at its annual meeting. She is also the recipient of the ABA 2006 Spirit of Excellence Award and the 2006 Sargent Shriver Award for Equal Justice. Recently, she received the Urban League Spirit Award, a Council on Legal Education Opportunity award and the 2008 Wiley A. Branton Award for her demonstrated service in the area of civil rights. Paula received her bachelor of arts degree in international studies from The Johns Hopkins University in 1981 and her juris doctor from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law, where she was named the “1998 Recent Alumna of the Year” in recognition of her professional and civic contributions. In her spare time, Paula enjoys running and is a singer and songwriter.

As Starbucks executive vice president, Global Supply Chain Operations, Peter D. Gibbons is responsible for all of the products that contribute to the Starbucks Experience – from the coffee in your cup, to the cup itself and the table it rests on – at every Starbucks store around the world. Peter, who joined Starbucks in February 2007 as senior vice president for Global Manufacturing Operations, has responsibility for the overall business management of Starbucks manufacturing, engineering, procurement, distribution, planning, transportation, inventory management and worldwide coffee and tea sourcing. This work includes operation of Starbucks global network of roasting plants in Kent, Wash.; York, Penn.; Carson Valley, Nev.; Sandy Run, S.C., Amsterdam, The Netherlands and the Tazo tea blending facility in Portland, Ore. Peter and his team work to ensure a long-term supply of quality products that enhance the customer experience while ensuring cost competiveness and efficiency. He is also responsible to helping Starbucks live up to its commitment to making a positive impact on the environment and in the communities where Starbucks products are sourced. Peter’s background includes leading manufacturing and supply chain efforts in Europe, Latin America and North America. He started his career with the synthetic fibers division of ICI, a global chemical company. He then worked with the business development team supporting engineering and manufacturing companies for the Scottish Development Agency. Peter later re-joined ICI and spent the next 18 years with ICI’s architectural and industrial paints business working in a variety of operations, finance and IT roles. Peter received his bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Edinburgh and his master’s in business administration from the Strathclyde Business School in Glasgow, Scotland.

Brad Stevens joined Starbucks in June 2002 as director of marketing for Starbucks Interactive. After helping to successfully launch HotSpot service in Starbucks stores, developing early marketing promotions for the Starbucks Card, and introducing Starbucks Card Duetto, Stevens became director of marketing for Starbucks Retail North America where he has led national retail promotions since the 2003 Holiday season. Louis Jordan joined Starbucks Coffee Co. on Monday (Feb. 23) as senior vice president-global finance. He previously had been chief financial officer of Nike Inc.'s Global Retail and Digital Commerce operations. Jordan is a native of Philadelphia and the sixth child of Rev. Samuel B. Jordan Sr. and Mary Jordan. He received Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in history from Westmar College and Brown University respectively. He received his MBA in finance from the Kelley School, where he was a Consortium for Graduate Study in Management Fellow, president of the Finance Guild and recipient of the Outstanding MBA award in 1980. Since receiving his Kelley MBA, Jordan has worked for a succession of Fortune 500 companies, including Dupont, Dun & Bradstreet, Citibank, Duracell and The Gap. Jordan joined Nike in February 2003 as CFO-USA Retail. Before assuming his position as CFO for global retail and digital commerce in early 2007, he also headed up global business planning for Nike Inc. for two years. His management scope before he left Nike included finance responsibility of all Nike-owned retail and factory stores and digital commerce activities worldwide. Jordan and his wife, Lynda, began production of estate-grown Bordeaux style wine in 2006. The Louis and Lynda Jordan vineyard, under the brand name "Tympany 5," is located in Sonoma County, Calif.'s Alexander Valley. An active alumnus, he he has served on the board of directors of the Kelley School of Business Alumni Association and as president of its San Francisco Bay Area Alumni Board Chapter. Since 2006, he has served on the advisory board of the school's Johnson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

Lucy Helm joined Starbucks Coffee Company in 1999. As senior vice president and deputy general counsel in Starbucks Law & Corporate Affairs Department, Ms. Helm leads the Litigation and Brand Protection team. Prior to joining Microsoft in April 1996, Vivek was the Executive Director of the Campaign for America Project, a Washington D.C. based non-profit organization focused on campaign finance reform. From 1994-1995, he served as Policy Counsel for the Democratic Caucus of the House of Representatives. His career began on Capitol Hill in 1988 working for the late Congressman Mike Synar, Democrat from Oklahoma. Mr. Varma served a variety of staff and legislative roles for Congressman Synar, including serving as his Chief of Staff in the 103rd Congress. Vivek grew up in Chickasha, Oklahoma and holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Swarthmore College and a law degree from the American University Washington College of Law. Varma resides in the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle with his wife Laura.

Willard (Dub) Hay joined Starbucks Coffee Company in November 2002 as senior vice president of coffee. Hay’s team oversees green coffee purchasing, roasting, blending, recipe development, and coffee education of Starbucks partners (employees). In May 2005, Hay broadened his scope of responsibility to include all Starbucks global procurement. For more than 25 years, Hay has traveled to the far reaches of coffee growing regions, such as Sulawesi, Rwanda, and Papa New Guinea, building deep relationships with generations of farmers. JAVIER G. TERUEL, 58, has been a Starbucks director since September 2005. Mr. Teruel served as vice chairman of Colgate-Palmolive Company, a consumer products company, from July 2004 to April 2007, when he retired. Prior to being appointed vice chairman, Mr. Teruel served as Colgate- Palmolive’s executive vice president responsible for Asia, Central Europe, Africa and Hill’s Pet Nutrition.
