Carole Moore has been one of the major figures in Canadian library sciences ever since she became chief librarian at the University of Toronto in 1986. Prior to that, Moore, starting in 1968, worked in a variety of U of T library positions including Head of Reference, and Associate Librarian, Bibliographic Systems and Technical Services. Moore is one of North America's leading experts in the use of digital methods to preserve and disseminate our intellectual heritage and is currently working to make the rich archival resources in Canadian history at the U of T more accessible via the Internet. Special projects include the archives of the discovery and development of insulin, the Tyrrell exploration archive, and the Robert Lansdale photography collection. She recently chaired the U of T Provost's task force on the electronic library system and she has served as President of the Canadian Association of Research Libraries as well as serving on the National Library Advisory Board. Currently, Moore sits on the board of directors of the University of Toronto Press and the Research Libraries Group.
