Fred L. Shusterich has more than 28 years of experience in material handling systems design and engineering, coal and dry bulk product transportation, marketing and business development. As president, Mr. Shusterich oversees the operation of the company as well as the operation of its Superior Midwest Energy Terminal. Mr. Shusterich also focuses on the supply of transportation and coal-related services to Detroit Edison as well as to third-party utility and industrial customers in the Great Lakes basin. Mr. Shusterich joined the company in 1986 as assistant general manager after nine years in a succession of engineering management positions with Ispat-Inland Steel Mining Company. Mr. Shusterich earned a masters degree in business administration and a bachelor of science degree in chemistry and environmental science from the University of Minnesota. Mr. Shusterich has also completed training in quality assurance management at the University of Manitoba. Mr. Shusterich has published technical papers on a variety of topics related to the transportation and export of western coal and on the production of iron ore pellets. Professional affiliations include, among others, The American Society for Quality Control, the American Society of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers, The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, and the Montana Coal Council.

Mark Cousino, 44, is president of DTE Biomass Energy, Inc., a subsidiary of DTE Energy
(NYSE: DTE), a Detroit-based diversified energy company involved in the development
and management of energy-related businesses and services nationwide. DTE Biomass
Energy develops, owns and operates landfill gas recovery systems throughout the United
States. Cousino leads a team of 68 employees and contractors and is responsible for
managing over $55 million in assets safely, reliably and profitably.
Cousino joined DTE Energy when MCN Energy merged with the company in 2001. Prior
to his current role, he held several positions within DTE Energy Services, a DTE Energy
subsidiary that develops, owns, builds and operates energy projects for industrial,
commercial and institutional customers and power generation facilities. Along with
serving as director of business development, Cousino also oversaw the day-to-day
operations of the company’s successful Section 29 synthetic fuel business unit. Cousino
was previously employed with Conoco Inc. for 10 years where he held both domestic and
overseas engineering, operations and business development assignments.
Cousino graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree in
chemical engineering.

Steven H. Prelipp, 42, is president of DTE Gas Resources, a non-utility subsidiary of DTE
Energy (NYSE:DTE). DTE Energy is a Detroit-based diversified energy company involved
in the development and management of energy-related businesses and services nationwide.
DTE Gas Resources evaluates, acquires and develops unconventional natural gas properties
outside of Michigan, primarily in the Barnett Shale, located in the Fort Worth Basin of
Texas.
Prelipp previously served as vice president for DTE Gas Resources and was instrumental in
the company’s entrance into the Barnett Shale in 2004 and a $260 million divestiture of a
portion of the company’s assets in 2008. The company currently has accumulated more than
80,000 acres, developed more than 175 Bcf of proven reserves and has established itself
among the top producers in the Fort Worth Basin.
Prior to joining DTE Energy in 2001, Prelipp held a variety of positions with increasing
responsibility within the energy industry in oil and gas exploration and production, corporate
development, gas marketing and power development.
Prelipp earned a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering from Louisiana State
University and has accomplished various other coursework in business administration, tax,
and engineering. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Steven Mabry, 45, is president of DTE Energy Trading, a non-utility subsidiary of DTE

David E. Meador, 52, is executive vice president and chief financial officer of DTE Energy
(NYSE: DTE), a Detroit-based diversified energy company involved in the development and
management of energy-related businesses and services nationwide. Meador is responsible
for investor relations, treasury, business taxes and financial forecasting, accounting and
corporate services for DTE Energy. Additionally, he oversees the supply chain management
facilities, fleet and warehousing functions.
Meador joined DTE Energy in 1997 as vice president and controller. In May 2001, the

Lynne Ellyn is the senior vice president and chief information officer at DTE Energy (NYSE:

David Ruud is Executive Vice President of DTE Energy Resources and President of

Jerry Norcia, 46, is president and chief operating officer of Michigan Consolidated Gas
Company (MichCon), one of three major business units of DTE Energy (NYSE:DTE), a
Detroit-based diversified energy company involved in the development and management of
energy-related businesses and services nationwide. Norcia is responsible for all utility gas
operations, and non-utility gas pipelines, processing and storage activities.
Norcia joined DTE Energy in 2002 as President of DTE Gas Storage, Pipelines and

Bruce Peterson, 52, is senior vice president and general counsel for DTE Energy (NYSE:
DTE), a Detroit-based diversified energy company involved in the development and
management of energy-related businesses and services nationwide. Peterson has overall
responsibility for the management and direction of the legal affairs of DTE Energy, as
well as its regulated utilities, Detroit Edison and MichCon, and its non-regulated
companies.
Prior to joining DTE Energy in 2002, Peterson was a partner in the Washington, D.C.
office of Hunton & Williams, a national law firm specializing in energy industry matters.
Peterson spent 14 years with the firm focusing on energy and infrastructure project
finance transactions, acquisitions and divestitures, and related contract structuring and
regulatory matters. He also served as administrative partner for the firm’s project
finance, development and leasing team. Previously, he was a Foreign Service Officer of
the U.S. Department of State for six years.
Peterson earned a bachelor of arts degree from North Park College and a juris doctor
degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School. He completed the Nuclear
Reactor Technology Course for Utility Executives at the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology. Peterson is a member of the Board of Directors of the DTE Energy
Foundation and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, a member of the Board of Trustees of
the Cranbrook Educational Community and a member of the Board of Governors of
Cranbrook Institute of Science. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Michigan
Law School. He is also a member of the Corporate Counsel Committee of the United

Harold Gardner, 62, is senior vice president and assistant to the chairman for DTE Energy

Joyce Hayes-Giles is senior vice president of customer service for Detroit Edison, an electric
utility serving 2.2 million customers in Southeastern Michigan and Michigan Consolidated
Gas Company (MichCon), a natural gas utility serving 1.3 million customers in more than
550 communities throughout Michigan. Both companies are subsidiaries of DTE Energy
(NYSE: DTE), a Detroit-based diversified energy company involved in the development and
management of energy-related businesses and services nationwide. Hayes-Giles is
responsible for providing customer service, which includes call centers, business offices,
billing services, meter reading and credit and collection.
Hayes-Giles previously served as vice president of corporate resources at MCN Energy
Group, the former parent company of MichCon. She joined MichCon as manager of
compensation in 1978. Through various director-level positions with the company, she led
employees in customer relations, material management, administrative services, customer
information and physical assets. Prior to joining MichCon, Hayes-Giles was employed with
the Automobile Club of Michigan, Chrysler Corporation and Connecticut General Life
Insurance Co.
Hayes-Giles earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Knoxville College. She
also earned a master of business administration degree from the University of Detroit and a
law degree from Wayne State University Law School.

Knut A. Simonsen, 45, is an officer of DTE Energy (NYSE: DTE), a Detroit-based diversified
energy company involved in the development and management of energy-related businesses and
services nationwide. In this position, Simonsen leads strategy, M&A and new business growth
for DTE Energy, which includes DTE Energy Ventures – a clean technology investment group.
Key areas of contribution to DTE Energy’s growth include defining entry strategy and expansion
of DTE’s unconventional gas E&P business and subsequently completing a very successful
monetization of the Antrim shale in Michigan in 2007 for $1.3 billion, while continuing to invest
in the Barnett Shale in Texas. Simonsen also led the development of the original gas storage and
pipeline strategy for DTE, with follow-on acquisition of Duke’s share in the Vector Pipeline.
Simonsen joined DTE Energy from McKinsey & Company’s Dallas, Texas office. At
McKinsey, he was a management consultant specializing in the energy industry serving leading
firms among gas and electric utilities and major oil companies. Areas of primary focus were
merger and acquisitions, growth and restructuring strategies, wholesale trading and performance
management.
Prior to McKinsey, Simonsen worked in Texaco’s Alternative Energy division based in New
York. As a Project Manager at Texaco, Simonsen led power development teams in North
America, Europe and Latin America. Alternative energy efforts focused on clean coal and waste
gasification. Renewable energy efforts included plastics, tires, sewage sludge and auto fluff.
Previously, Simonsen was an Assistant Treasurer in the New York based Project Finance group
of Den Norske Bank, with responsibility for project finance primarily for wind, wood, and gas
fired power projects.

Paul Hillegonds, 60, is senior vice president of corporate affairs at DTE Energy (NYSE:

Ron A. May, 57, is senior vice president at DTE Energy, (NYSE:DTE) a Detroit-based
diversified energy company involved in the development and management of energy-related
businesses and services nationwide. May is responsible for major generation construction and
performance projects at Detroit Edison’s power plants, the new nuclear power plant
development project, and development of renewable assets. Detroit Edison is one of three major
business units of DTE Energy.
May previously served as Senior Vice President of DTE2, an enterprise resource planning
project. Prior to that, he served as Senior Vice President of Energy Distribution at Detroit
Edison, responsible for engineering, operation, construction and maintenance of the company’s
distribution and transmission system. Additional responsibilities included customer service,
corporate facilities, and security. He also held a variety of nuclear leadership positions at Detroit
Edison, including positions in materials management, maintenance, and administration. Prior to
joining Detroit Edison, May was Vice President at Project Management Associates, a project
controls consulting business. Earlier in his career, he held leadership positions at Townsend and
Bottum, Inc., a heavy utility construction business, including environmental equipment additions
to Detroit Edison’s fossil generation fleet.
May earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering at the University of Michigan,
and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University. Additionally, he
completed graduate course work at Eastern Michigan University, Youngstown State University,
and Pennsylvania State University. Currently, he is a member of the American Association of
Cost Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Engineering Society of Detroit.

Presently, May serves as the chairman of the Oakland University School of Engineering and

Gary Quantock leads DTE Energy Services' asset management team which is responsible for managing more than $1 billion of energy assets and investments. These projects include two pulverized coal injection facilities, three coke oven batteries, a chilled water plant, peaking power facilities and synthetic fuel plants. He has more than 20 years of experience in the energy industry, previously having managed coal and natural gas fired cogeneration facilities and developing and operating projects recovering methane from sanitary landfills. As asset manager, Mr. Quantock is responsible for the financial performance of DTEES' portfolio of energy related projects. He directs a team of professionals in managing day to day operational and commercial activities. professional experience also includes employment at American Motors Corp., where he
gained line and staff experience within corporate marketing and the field sales organization.

deputy treasurer for the State of Michigan from 1991 to 1997. Prior to joining the state

agency of the Michigan Senate. He also served as an analyst in the macro-economic division
of the U.S. Congressional Budget Office in Washington, D.C., and as an economist with the
Bureau of Economic Analysis, U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C.
Khouri is a past chairman of the Michigan Municipal Bond Authority and a former member of
the Michigan State Housing Development Authority, and the Michigan Hospital Finance
Authority. In 1993, he was a member of Michigan Governor John Engler’s Task Force on
Educational Reform with responsibility for developing the Governor’s recommendation for
school financing alternatives.
Khouri currently serves on the Board of Directors of Citizens Research Council of Michigan
and Energy Insurance Mutual, and is a member of Detroit’s Local Initiatives Support Group.
Khouri earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics from the University of Michigan and a

Paul Fessler, is vice president of fossil generation at Detroit Edison, one of three major

Michigan. He is a registered professional engineer.
Fessler is a current member of the Engineering Society of Detroit and the American Nuclear
Society. He serves on the EPRI Generation Council, the Plymouth United Way fund-raising
committee, and is involved in Leadership Michigan. Fessler served on various boards for
the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) where he presented many papers and was
selected as sole U.S. representative for International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
missions to review reactor operations for Russian and East German nuclear reactors. He
also served on the Safety Review Board for Fermi 2 and Clinton nuclear power plants.

Tompkins joined DTE Energy in 2002 as managing director of corporate finance,
responsible for rating agencies, long term capital raising activities and financial policies.
Prior to joining DTE, Tompkins was treasurer of Metaldyne Corporation, a diversified
industrial manufacturer, and held other accounting and finance roles during his
approximately 17 year career at Metaldyne and its publicly traded predecessors.
