Daniel J. Moriarty has served as Director of Development of APLA since January 2004. He supervises all APLA fundraising activities, including: major gifts from individuals and corporations; grants from foundations and government agencies; direct mail appeals; and complex special events produced to raise community awareness as well as financial support for the agency's programs and services. Moriarty's career has been spent largely in the senior communications executive role at global corporations, often with sales and marketing responsibilities. After graduation from Georgetown University, he began his career as an advertising copywriter, marketing magazine editor and publicist for rock and folk music recording artists. As Assistant to the Chairman/President/CEO of Norton Simon Inc., a leading consumer products conglomerate of the 1970s, he was exposed to the management of many different industries, eventually focusing on global cosmetics, fragrance and fashion market leaders. At Revlon, Inc. for 14 years, Moriarty supervised the worldwide public relations programs of more than a dozen beauty companies as the corporation's Senior Vice President, Public Relations. He also served as Vice President of Max Factor & Co., Calvin Klein, Inc., the Aramis division of the Estee Lauder Companies and Christian Dior Perfumes (LVMH). From the beginning of 2000 until joining APLA, he was associated with Large Scale Biology Corporation, a biotechnology company with laboratories in Northern California, Maryland and Kentucky, principally as Vice President, Corporate Affairs. Moriarty serves as a Director of The Ritz Tower, Inc. in New York. Until joining APLA, he also served as a Director of Greater New York March of Dimes and the Marti Nelson Cancer Foundation. He has been a trustee of the Marymount School of New York, a member of the President's Business Advisory Board at Hunter College and a consulting advisor to numerous non-profits, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Inc. and Gloss.com, an Internet marketing company.

Ms. Wheeler is a partner of Texas Pacific Group where she is responsible for the firm's investments in the Retail and Consumer sectors. Prior to joining Texas Pacific Group she was in the Mergers and Acquisitions Department and the Principal Investment Area at Goldman, Sachs & Co. Ms. Wheeler also serves on the board of directors of Metro-Goldywn-Mayer, Inc. and Petco Animal Supplies, Inc.

Jonathan Nelson has been investing in private equity transactions for 24 years and is the Chief Executive Officer of Providence. Mr. Nelson has been responsible for Providence's investments in wireless and wireline communications, broadcasting, entertainment and other areas. Mr. Nelson currently serves on the board of directors of Bresnan Communications (also known as Mountain States Cable Television), Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., Warner Music Group and Yankees Entertainment and Sports Network, LLC. Previously, he was a founder and Managing Director of Narragansett Capital Inc. where he specialized in private equity investments in the broadcasting, publishing and cable television sectors. Mr. Nelson received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University. Mr. Nelson is currently a director of Trinity Repertory Company in Providence, Rhode Island and a Trustee of Brown University.

Kelvin L. Davis, 45, was appointed to Graphic Packaging Holding Company’s Board on March 10, 2008. Mr. Davis is a Senior Partner of TPG Capital and Head of the firm’s North American Buyouts Group, incorporating investments in all non-technology industry sectors. Prior to joining TPG in 2000, Mr. Davis was President and Chief Operating Officer of Colony Capital, Inc., a private international real estate-related investment firm in Los Angeles, which he co-founded in 1991. Prior to the formation of Colony, Mr. Davis was a principal of RMB Realty, Inc., the real estate investment vehicle of Robert M. Bass. Prior to his affiliation with RMB Realty, he worked at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York City and with Trammell Crow Company in Dallas and Los Angeles. Mr. Davis earned a B.A. degree (Economics) from Stanford University and a M.B.A. from Harvard University, where he was a Baker Scholar, a John L. Loeb Fellow, and a Wolfe Award recipient. Mr. Davis is a director of Kraton Polymers LLC, Aleris International, Inc., Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc., Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. and Univision Communications Inc. He is also a ten-year Director (and past Chairman) of Los Angeles Team Mentoring, Inc. (a charitable mentoring organization), is a director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, and is on the Board of Overseers and Art Collections Council of the Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens.

Graceland was a court of an absolute monarch, whose nocturnal habits were fuelled by benzedrine. Priscilla has her own way of describing his manic whims: "Elvis was very spontaneous. It would be, "Now we're all gonna go horse-back riding, or out on our motor bikes. Or we're gonna take the plane to Vegas. Elvis would call on the intercom every morning to see who was in the kitchen before he went down to have his breakfast. He didn't like it if there was someone in the room. Often it was a family member wanting money.' After their separation, Priscilla watched as Elvis simultaneously inflated and imploded. His body ballooned, choked with cheeseburgers and pint tubs of ice cream, and he hid it behind jeweled capes and jumpsuits; his act became louder and a self-parody. "'He was terribly insecure by the end. People were always saying to him, "You didn't fill up the room today, it wasn't a sell-out." Sometimes they had to curtain off whole areas of seating to make it look less empty. No one could tell him he had a problem, or get him to deal with his addictions. Just think - if he were alive now, he'd be in his early seventies, and remember how good Cary Grant looked when he was that age!' Premature death ensured his immortality, and led almost immediately to a flurry of reincarnations - the claims in the tabloids that his statue had been found on Mars, the plaster statuettes sold like votive icons, the annual competitions in Vegas for Elvis clones. After his death, Priscilla Presley conferred another kind of immortality on Elvis: she incorporated him. She set up Elvis Presley Enterprises Inc. which runs Graceland commercial rights to his image; her book, the DVD and a new CDs are attempts to perpetuate the franchise. "No, I never did anything out of revenge," she said when I asked about her motives for taking that lover. But her triumph over the man who divorced her has been lucrative. "I loved him, I still love him," she states. But demolition is also part of the agenda: Priscilla knocked down the house Elvis occupied in LA, bronzed the bricks, then shipped them to Graceland for sale as souvenirs. She speaks about 'the bigness of Elvis Presley'. What you notice about Priscilla is her littleness and her bemusement at what has happened to her. If Priscilla Presley could look up (which she knows it's unwise) she would probably be asking the same questions she heard Elvis repeating during his reign: 'Why me? Why was I chosen?
