General Alfred G. Hansen, USAF (Ret), is president and chief operating officer of EMS Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of wireless communications and logistics solutions, with headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. General Hansen is responsible for the day-to-day operations of EMS' business units the Space & Technology and Wireless Products groups. EMS has approximately 1,600 employees worldwide, and revenues of $240 million. EMS is a leading provider of broadband wireless communications and commercial space solutions, and is a major supplier of wireless systems for the distribution industry. The company is headquartered in Atlanta and has major manufacturing facilities in Atlanta, Ottawa, and Montreal. General Hansen most recently served as president of A.G. Hensen Associates, Inc., and aerospace marketing and manufacturing consultancy in Marietta, Georgia. Prior to establishing his own consultancy, he worked at Lockheed Martin as corporate vice president and executive vice president of Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems. General Hansen retired from the United States Air Force in October 1989. During his last assignment, he served as commander of the Air Force Logistics Command, headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. After graduating from Air Command and Staff College in July 1966, General Hansen was assigned to the Air Force Systems Command, Headquarters Air Force Eastern Test Range, Patrick Air Force Base, FL, and served as a member of the Apollo spacecraft recovery team until March 1968. He then was assigned to Makthon Phanom Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand, as an A-1 pilot with the 1st Air Commando Squadron, later redesignated the 1st Special Operations Squadron. He flew 113 combat missions. From September 196? to March 1969 he served in the Republic of Vietnam as a fighter operations staff officer at Headquarters 7th Air Force, Tan Son Nhut Air Base. David Sheffield serves as vice president, finance and chief accounting officer for EMS Technologies, Inc., a publicly held advanced technology firm with headquarters in Norcross, Ga. Gary Shell serves as senior vice president, chief financial officer (CFO) and treasurer for EMS Technologies, Inc., a publicly held advanced technology firm with headquarters in Norcross, Ga. David Smith joined EMS Technologies’ in April 2007 as vice president and general manager of its Defense and Space Division, a leading supplier of antenna systems and beam management for a broad range of military and commercial applications, including mobile network-centric operations, radar for battlefield visibility and commercial aero connectivity. Under his leadership, EMS D&S achieved record revenue growth and an order backlog exceeding $115 million in 2008. Joanne Walker is vice president and general manager of the company's SATCOM division, based in Ottawa, Canada, and reporting to Neil Mackay, chief operating officer. As vice president of Strategic Initiatives at EMS Technologies, Inc. Nils Helle holds management responsibilities for mergers and acquisitions activities. Perry Tanner serves as vice president of Marketing and Information Management of EMS Technologies, Inc., a leader in advanced technology since its founding in 1968. As vice president and general manager of Satellite Television Networks, he helped that $100 million business reposition itself into two growth markets, cable programming and multimedia IP; modernized 80 percent of the unit’s existing product lines; and penetrated a U.S. market monopoly. As vice president and general manager of Transmission Systems Networks, a $220 million business providing optical, RF and passive devices to enable broadband multimedia, Tanner initiated several strategic acquisitions and new product launches, helping the unit exceed the company’s financial performance by 25 percent. Tanner began his Scientific Atlanta career in 1981. He has an MBA from Mercer University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Georgia State University. He is a former member of the board of directors for the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce and the Gwinnett Foundation, as well as a former member of Mercer University’s National Engineering Advisory Board.

Stephen Newell was appointed general manager of LXE Inc., the mobile logistics business of EMS Technologies, Inc., in April 2009, reporting to Neil Mackay, executive vice president and COO. LXE is a leading manufacturer of rugged vehicle-mounted, handheld and wearable mobile computers. Newell is responsible for the day-to-day operations of LXE, including growing its distributor channel to market, enhancing product manufacturing, and leading initiatives to improve the business's profitability. He joined EMS Technologies in 2003, most recently serving as vice president, Satcom Sales, at the Company's EMS SATCOM division. He led the formation of a global aeronautical sales team, and supervised the direct and indirect sales channel, while providing personal attention to key OEM accounts to ensure minimal channel conflict. Marty Broadwell is acting general manager of the Defense Space & Systems (D&SS) Division of EMS Technologies, Inc., serving in this role since December 2006. In this position, Broadwell managed the $500 million development program to modernize the Air Force's fleet of C-5 aircraft to meet future Global Air Traffic Management requirements using commercial avionics to upgrade the flight controls and avionics. From 1997 to 1999, Broadwell served as director of the F-22 Avionics Product Development Team, a $4 billion+ segment of the F-22 development program. The team developed avionics for the world's most capable fighter aircraft. The contractor team included Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and more than a dozen major avionics suppliers. Under his leadership, the F-22 team integrated and qualified all Block 1 Avionics sub-systems, coordinated the test flight of the avionics system and completed lab integration for Ship 4004 Block 1 first-flight avionics. From 1994 to 1997, Broadwell was deputy F-22 avionics product manager. He managed all Lockheed Martin Avionics suppliers, and Lockheed Martin's F -22 avionics workforce of more than 200 staff. Under his leadership, the team completed all software and subsystem CDRs and delivered and supported the avionics for the first F-22 flight in 1997. From 1991 to 1994, Broadwell launched and managed the Lockheed Martin F-22 Software Engineering department in Marietta, Ga., and led the Joint Boeing-Lockheed Martin Mission Software Product Development Team. From 1986 to 1990, Broadwell was program manager for a five-year DARPA Pilot's Associate research program, which he managed through a three-year initial competitive program that culminated in a follow-on down-selection award.

Don T. Scartz serves as senior financial advisor, where he provides strategic counsel to the Chairman, CEO and CFO with respect to EMS's financial affairs, including assistance with its commercial and investment banking relationships, strategic financial initiatives, and potential acquisitions or other strategic transactions. In May 2008, Scartz retired from EMS after a distinguished 30-year career. He most recently served as executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer, with responsibility for the financial affairs of the company, including strategic acquisitions and institutional investor relations, as well as identifying and securing capital to fund new products and broadband initiatives. In his career, Scartz has helped EMS grow from less than $4 million in revenues in 1978 to more than $300 million expected for 2008. At the time of his retirement, EMS had achieved the strongest financial position in its 40-year history. Scartz has been an EMS executive vice president since February 2003 and CFO since 1995. He joined the Company as Controller in 1978, and became Treasurer in 1981. Scartz also served as EMS's vice president-finance from 1981 to 1995. That year, he was appointed senior vice president. Francis J. Erbrick was appointed to EMS Technologies' Board of Directors in May 2006, and currently serves on the Audit Committee and the Stock Incentive Plan Committee. Mr. Erbrick has worked since 1997 as a consultant in the Business Technology Office of McKinsey & Co., in Stamford, CT, an information technology consulting services firm that serves large companies. He joined McKinsey in 1997 after retiring from UPS, the world's largest package delivery company and a global leader in supply chain services, where he worked for 35 years. For 12 of those years, Erbrick was chief information officer and a member of the UPS Management Committee, where he oversaw development of the company's information systems architecture, its telecommunications network and its Package Tracking System, believed to be the largest relational database in the world. A native of Pennsylvania and a graduate of St. Joseph's University, Erbrick has served as a Trustee of his alma mater. In addition, Erbrick was a 1994 recipient of the Carnegie Mellon Award for Excellence in Information Technology. He currently resides in Atlanta and is director of The Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta as well as serves on the New Jersey Institute of Technology Board of Overseers.

The Honorable Thomas W. O’Connell, former Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict, has been appointed to EMS Technologies’ Board of Directors in 2007, and currently serves on the Nominations and Governance Committee. A 1968 Distinguished Military Graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Mr. O’Connell served in the Army until 1995, culminating in a three-year assignment at the Central Intelligence Agency. His military career included infantry service in Germany, a combat tour as an advisor in Vietnam, numerous assignments in Special Operations Intelligence units and an exchange tour with the British Army in the UK. He commanded a battalion in the 82nd Airborne Division and served as the Senior Intelligence Officer for the Joint Special Operations Command. Mr. O’Connell also commanded a Special Operations Intelligence Brigade and served in Grenada, Panama, and the first Gulf War. He received several awards for valor in combat zones as well as the Purple Heart and the Air Medal. In his civilian career, Mr. O’Connell held senior management positions with ESystems Inc. and later Raytheon Company, working on critical infrastructure protection and advanced special operations and intelligence projects. Nominated by President George W. Bush to become Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict in May 2003 and serving until April 2007, Mr. O’Connell was responsible for civilian oversight of budgets of over $10 billion dollars annually, as well as 52,000 Special Operations personnel. He received both the Defense Department’s and the Coast Guard’s highest awards for civilian service. A resident of Alexandria, Va., Mr. O’Connell has Master’s degrees in Public Administration from Central Michigan University; in Strategic Studies and International Relations from the Naval War College; and an advanced degree in National Security Management from Industrial War College.
