David Merritt joined Marcus Hotels & Resorts in 2005 as Senior Vice President of Development. Mr. Merritt is responsible for all development-related activities, including ground up projects, acquisition and reposition opportunities as well as sliver investment with existing owners and third-party management. Prior to joining Marcus Hotels , Merritt served as Sr. Vice President of Development for Lane Hospitality, a Chicago based hotel owner and operator. Mr. Hoffmann's career in the hospitality industry has spanned more than 18 years. He has been involved in numerous accounting, finance, administration and IT positions during that time, but most recently has moved into a development role. In his position as VP of Development, he is responsible for all development-related activities including ground up projects, acquisition and reposition opportunities as well as sliver investment with existing owners and third-party management. Jori Hartwig joined Marcus Hotels and Resorts in May 2007 as the Vice President of Marketing. In this newly created position, she is responsible for developing and implementing marekting and branding strategies for Marcus hotels, restaurants and spas. She will also assist with corporate strategic planning initiatives. Ms. Hartwig brings to Marcus over 20 years of Consumer Products Marketing experience with well recognized companies such as SC Johnson Wax, Pillsbury and Fiskars. Scott Shoenberger joined Marcus Hotels and Resorts in November of 2005 as the Vice President of Operations. Mr. Shoenberger is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the hotel operations for many of the Marcus Hotels & Resorts properties. Prior to joining Marcus Hotels & Resorts, Mr. Shoenberger was employed by various hotels and hospitality companies around the country including The Irvine Company, Noble House & Resorts, RockResorts and Dusit Hotels & Resorts. His management positions have included Vice President of Operations, General Manager and Director of Food & Beverage. At his most recent position of Managing Director for LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort he was also involved with such renowned properties as Little Palm Island on Little Torch Key. Mr. Magnuson oversees all aspects of the 1300-acre Grand Geneva Resort & Spa complex, including all hotel and resort operations. Jay M. Kaplowitz founded Gersten Savage LLP in 1977. Since the firm's founding he has served not only as Chairman of the Firm's corporate practice but also as the Firm's Managing Partner. Ms. Beuchert brings 13 years of travel marketing experience to Marcus Hotels and Resorts. She is responsible for electronic distribution strategies, development of hotel and restaurant websites, management of online intermediary channels, as well as online advertising and email marketing. Prior to joining Marcus, she held a number of marketing positions at Mark Travel Corporation, beginning as an Associate Manager and rising to Senior Marketing Manager for Funjet Vacations, overseeing operations and marketing of the southern U.S. markets. Larry Flam has had a long and rich career of over 25 years in the hospitality industry. Larry lives by the idea that restaurants are guest driven, and that the hospitality industry should aim to make the Guest experience memorable. Mr. Selig received a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1956. After two years in the United States Army, Mr. Selig joined Selig Ford, Inc. He served as president of Selig Ford (which became Selig Chevrolet in 1982) from 1959 until 1990. Since 1970 he has served as Chairman of the Board and President of Selig Lease Company. Mr. Selig became President and Chief Executive Officer of the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club, Inc. in 1970 and served in that capacity until 1998 when he was elected to the position of Commissioner of Major League Baseball. He also served as Chairman of the Executive Council of Major League Baseball from 1992 to 1998. Mr. Selig is a director of the Green Bay Packers and Marcus Corporation. W. Patrick McDowell, 57, is President of McDowell Properties. He has been in the real estate investment business for 33 years. McDowell Properties was formed in 1994 and has an investment strategy that focuses on the opportunistic acquisition of multifamily properties. Mr. McDowell was a founder and partner of The Fox Group and its successor company Metric Partners, a joint venture with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, from 1971 until 1993. Fox/Metric invested in and managed over $4 billion in real estate assets, comprising in excess of 400 individual properties located in more than 30 states. Asset classes included apartment complexes, industrial parks, office buildings, shopping centers and hotels. During Mr. McDowell's tenure, Fox had over 1,000 employees in 14 offices. Fox raised over $1.5 billion in equity capital through public securities offerings underwritten by Wall Street firms; and raised and managed over $1 billion in capital for more than 30 public pension plans, including CALPERS and CALSTRS. Mr. McDowell's public pension fund investment activities solely involved rental multi-family investments. From 1975 until 1986, Mr. McDowell was Executive Vice President of Fox in charge of all acquisition, disposition and financing activities, and from 1986 until 1993, he was Chief Executive Officer. In addition, through McDowell Properties Mr. McDowell has been the managing member of LLC's which invested selectively in real estate partnership interests and has invested in tender offers on public real estate securities. Mr. McDowell has served on the Advisory Committee on Troubled Projects for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and as Vice Chairman of the National Multi Housing Council. He is on the Advisory Board of the Fisher Center for Real Estate at the University of California, Berkeley, a member of the Urban Land Institute, Lambda Alpha International and an Advisory Board member of The Marcus and Millichap Company. Mr. McDowell has a BA from Stanford University and an MBA in Real Estate from the Graduate School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
