Maxwell Technologies Inc.

David Schramm was appointed a director in Class III upon joining Maxwell as President and CEO in July 2007. Previously, he spent the bulk of his 36-year business career in a series of senior management and engineering positions with General Motors and its primary Tier I parts supplier, Delphi Automotive Systems and several of their divisions and subsidiaries. More recently, he was President and CEO of EADS North America Defense Test and Services, the U.S. subsidiary of the corporate parent of Airbus, and immediately before that was President and CEO of Arrowhead Products Corp., a leading supplier of specialty systems to the aerospace and automotive industries.  He holds a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana, and a master’s degree in management from Stanford University, where he was a Sloan Fellow.

Alain Riedo joined Maxwell Technologies SA, formerly Montena Components, as Director of Sales in 1988, and was appointed General Manager in 1994. He has overall responsibility for Maxwell’s global high voltage capacitor and equipment businesses and oversees the company’s ultracapacitor business in Europe.

John Miller joined Maxwell in December 2005. His initial focus was on development and promotion of ultracapacitor-based solutions for the automotive and heavy vehicle industries, and in 2007 he assumed additional responsibility for worldwide applications engineering, including development of “Maxwell University” curriculum for field application engineers.  Previously, he spent 18 years in a series of engineering and research and development positions with the Ford Motor Company, where he led several Ford automotive electronics and electric and hybrid drive train development programs before taking early retirement in 2002. Immediately prior to joining Maxwell, he spent three years as an industry consultant, author and guest lecturer. He holds 52 patents and has written more than 140 scientific and technical papers and three books, including Hybrid Vehicle Propulsion Systems, which was published in 2003. He holds a BS degree from the University of Arkansas, an MS degree from Southern Methodist University and a doctorate from Michigan State University, all in electrical engineering.

Mike Everett joined Maxwell in August 2002, assuming responsibility for Technology Systems, including product assurance and multiple systems engineering groups. In December 2005, he was appointed Chief Technical Officer. Before joining Maxwell, he spent seven years overseeing product development for 3D Systems Inc., a California-based technology company that designs and manufactures three-dimensional imaging systems. Over a 16-year engineering career, Mike has been responsible for all levels of new product development, primarily focused on systems engineering.

Mike Sund joined Maxwell in March 1999, assuming responsibility for corporate communications and investor relations. Previously, he spent six years in a similar role with Mycogen Corp., an agricultural biotechnology company that was acquired by The Dow Chemical Company in November 1998. Over the previous 20 years he held several media and corporate and agency communications positions and was the principal of his own public relations consulting firm.

Donald M. Roberts joined us in December 2002 and currently serves as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. From 1994 to December 2002, Mr. Roberts served as Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel for Maxwell Technologies, Inc., a publicly held technology company. Previous to that, he was with the Los Angeles-based law firm of Parker, Milliken, Clark, O'Hara & Samuelian for 21 years. Mr. Roberts was a shareholder in the firm, having served as partner in a predecessor partnership. Mr. Roberts received his undergraduate degree in political science from Yale University and earned his J.D. at the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law.

Mr. Cortes was appointed a director of the Company in July 2002, and was elected to a full term at the Annual Stockholder Meeting in May 2003. Mr. Cortes is Chairman of Montena, SA, which sold its Montena Components, Ltd., subsidiary to Maxwell in July 2002. Mr. Cortes, who resides in Zürich, Switzerland, also is a principal of GroCor Asset Management, AG, an asset management firm, and GenTurica, a private equity holding firm.

Larry Longden was appointed Vice President & General Manager of Maxwell’s Microelectronics product group in August 2008.  During his 34 year career at Maxwell, he has held a series of senior management positions in business areas focused on products and services for systems that must survive man-made and natural radiation environments.  He holds bachelors and masters degrees in electrical engineering from San Diego State University and a certificate from the Leadership and Management Program for Scientists from the University of California, San Diego.

Mr. Rossi was appointed a director in Class II in November 1997, and was elected to a full term at the Annual Stockholder Meeting in January 1998. He chairs the Compensation Committee of the board and also serves on the Audit and Nominating committees. Mr. Rossi is a Senior Managing Director of Cornerstone Equity Investors, LLC, a New York-based private equity firm with more than $1 billion of assets under management. Prior to the formation of Cornerstone in 1996, he was President of Prudential Equity Investors, Inc. He is a member of the Board of Directors of True Temper, Inc. and Novatel Wireless, Inc. as well as several privately held companies.

Robert L. Guyett was elected to the Board in 1990. Since April 1996, Mr. Guyett has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Crescent Management Enterprises, LLC, a financial management and investment advisory services firm. From May 2003 until May 2007, he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Maxwell Technologies, Inc., a manufacturer of ultracapacitors, microelectronics, power systems and high voltage capacitors, and he continues to serve on that board. From May 1995 to December 1996, he was a consultant to Engelhard Corporation, an international specialty chemical and precious metals company. Between September 1991 and May 1995, Mr. Guyett served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Engelhard Corporation. From January 1987 to September 1991, he was the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Fluor Corporation, an international engineering and construction firm. Mr. Guyett also currently serves as the Treasurer and a director of the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.

Thomas Ringer has been a director of the Company since August 1996. Since 1990, Mr. Ringer has been actively involved as a member of the boards of directors for various public and private companies. Mr. Ringer is currently Vice Chairman of Wedbush Morgan Securities, Inc., an investment banking and financial services company, Chairman of Document Sciences Corporation, a publicly held company engaged in developing and marketing document automation and content management output software, a director of Maxwell Technologies, Inc., a publicly held company that manufactures and markets energy storage and power delivery solutions, Chairman of M.S. Aerospace, Inc., a privately held manufacturer of aerospace fasteners, and Chairman of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, an executive education services company. Prior to 1990, Mr. Ringer served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Recognition Equipment Inc., a New York Stock Exchange listed company, President and Chief Executive Officer of Fujitsu Systems of America, Inc. and President and Chief Executive Officer of Computer Machinery Corporation.
