After eight years as Executive Director on the board of the World Bank Group representing 25 African nations, Mr. Gomes launched the Constelor Group in 2006. Mr. Gomes started his career at the World Bank when he became Alternate Executive Director in 1998. In 2002, he was promoted to the Executive Directorship and became one of 24 members of the World Bank board tasked with leading the Bank's strategic and investment activities. In that role, Mr. Gomes has sought to serve the African nations with passion and innovation. Mr. Gomes started his career in Africa in 1988 when he joined the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Trade in his native land of Guinea-Bissau. As Director of Strategic Planning and Principal Advisor to the Minister, he led the effort to introduce the country into the West African Monetary Union ("UEMOA"). In 1997, Mr. Gomes obtained a Masters degree with Honors in Economic Policy and Management from the Kennedy School of Government (USA). While a student, Mr. Gomes was also with Monitor Group, a consulting firm, and Citizens Energy, an energy company owned by the Kennedy family with interests including Angolan assets. In 1984, Mr. Gomes obtained a Certificat d'Etudes Politiques from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques (Sciences Po Paris) and in 1986 he received a B.A. in Economics and International Trade from the Institut d'Etudes des Relations Internationales (ILERI). Mr. Gomes is a member of the board of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated ("ETI"), a leader in the banking sector in Africa. He belongs to a number of networks including the Aspen Institute.
