Michael A. Mussallem, age 55, has been chairman and CEO since 2000. Prior to 2000, Mussallem held a variety of positions with increasing responsibility in engineering, product development and senior management at Baxter International Inc., including Group Vice President of its CardioVascular business from 1994 to 2000 and Group Vice President of the Biopharmaceutical business from 1998 to 2000. From 1996 until 1998, he was the Chairman of Baxter's Asia Board overseeing Baxter's operations throughout Asia. Mussallem received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and was conferred an honorary doctorate by his alma mater in 1999. Mussallem is chairman of the board of directors of the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), and serves as a member of the board for Advanced Medical Optics, Inc. He is also on the boards and executive committees of the California Healthcare Institute and OCTANe, and is a trustee of the University of California, Irvine Foundation. He received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering in 1974 and an honorary doctorate in 1999 from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Thomas M. Abate, age 53. Prior to his assuming his current role in 2006, Abate had been operating as Edwards' Corporate Controller, and served an instrumental role in the company's spin-off from Baxter in 2000. He previously served as Group Controller for Baxter's CardioVascular Group and also worked in a global capacity as Vice President of Finance for Clintec International, a joint venture with Baxter and Nestle based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Abate, who earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Northern Illinois University, served in a series of finance positions of increasing responsibility during his tenure at Baxter since 1982 and at Edwards.

Anita B. Bessler, age 59. From 2000 to 2001, she served as Corporate Vice President, Cardiac Surgery of the company. Bessler joined Baxter in 1988 as Vice President and General Manager of Sales and Marketing for Baxter's Hyland division, and in 1991 became President, Cardiac Surgery for Baxter's CardioVascular business. Prior to her tenure with Baxter, from 1986 until 1988 she was Senior Executive Vice President with the USV/Armour Pharmaceutical Division of Rhone Poulenc Rohrer. From 1976 until 1986, Bessler held senior management positions with Revlon's Healthcare Group. She is a graduate of Indiana University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and economics.

Bruce P. Garren, age 61, has been General Counsel since 2000. Previously, he was Senior Vice President-General Counsel for Safeskin Corporation, a San Diego-based manufacturer of latex and synthetic gloves for the healthcare and scientific markets. Prior to that he was Vice President-General Counsel of Tambrands Inc., now part of The Procter & Gamble Company. Garren was with the law firm of Arnold & Porter in Washington, D.C. from 1980 to 1985. He received his undergraduate degree from Antioch College and his law degree from Cornell Law School.

Carlyn D. Solomon, age 45, corporate vice president, Critical Care and Vascular, is responsible for Edwards Lifesciences’ global market-leading Critical Care business, as well as its base Vascular business. Solomon has 25 years of leadership experience in the medical device, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Prior to joining Edwards in June 2005, he served in a number of positions with increasing responsibility at Baxter Healthcare Corporation, including interim president of the company’s $3 billion BioScience Division, vice president of Global Manufacturing, and vice president of Global Operations. During his tenure at Baxter, the organization received numerous awards for manufacturing and operational excellence, and was instrumental in developing revolutionary technologies. Solomon has served as an executive board member for the California Manufacturers and Technology Association and the Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association. He also served on the board of directors for The Baxter International Foundation. Solomon earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Kansas State University.

Donald E. Bobo, Jr. Corporate Vice President, Heart Valve Therapy Donald E. Bobo, Jr., age 46, is responsible for the surgical heart valve business, including tissue replacement and repair devices. Bobo has over 20 years of experience in the medical products and healthcare industry where he most recently served as Edwards’ Vice President and General Manager of Transcatheter Mitral Repair and as Vice President, Corporate Strategy. Prior to joining Edwards Lifesciences, he served as Director/GM of the Non-Invasive Monitoring Business Unit of InnerSpace, a medical device startup company. Lastly, from 2001 to 2006, Bobo served as a Director and board member of PLC Medical, a publicly traded medical device company located in Boston, MA. Bobo holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a master's degree in engineering.

John H. Kehl Jr., age 54. Kehl held various positions of increasing responsibility at Baxter since joining its Treasury department in 1975. In 1980, he was promoted to Manager of Investor Relations and Communications and, in 1985, assumed responsibility for directing all aspects of Baxter’s external communications. Kehl was appointed Vice President, Controller for Baxter’s CardioVascular business in 1988 with responsibility for Finance, Information Systems and Business Planning. He became Vice President of Business Development in 1995. Kehl also served on Baxter’s Japan Board. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in business and economics from Loras College and received his MBA from Loyola University in Chicago.

John P. McGrath Corporate Vice President, Quality John P. McGrath, age 48. McGrath joined Edwards in 2006 as Vice President of Quality with more than twenty years of medical device and combination product experience in quality, manufacturing and product development. McGrath was previously Vice President of Quality at Cordis Corporation, where his quality assurance responsibilities included cardiovascular, endovascular and neurovascular businesses. Prior to joining Cordis he was director of quality at CR Bard’s USCI and Electrophysiology divisions. McGrath received his undergraduate degree from Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland, an MSc in Total Quality Management from Sheffield Hallam University, United Kingdom and his PhD in Management from California Coast University.

Larry L. Wood Corporate Vice President, Transcatheter Valve Replacement Larry Wood, age 42, is responsible for the company’s key initiatives in transcatheter heart valve replacement. These responsibilities include a team in Irvine as well as the PVT Limited facility in Israel. Most recently, from March 2004 to February 2007, Wood served as Vice President and General Manager responsible for the valve replacement programs within the Percutaneous Valve Interventions department. Wood joined the Edwards organization in 1985, progressing through a variety of increasingly responsible positions including various manufacturing management positions as well as regulatory affairs. At the time of the spin off from Baxter International, he was Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Studies for the Heart Valve franchise. From 2001 to 2004, Wood was the vice president in Global Franchise Management with responsibilities for Strategic and Clinical Marketing. Wood holds a bachelor’s degree in Business and an MBA from Pepperdine University.

Paul C. Redmond, age 44, is responsible for the global Cardiac Surgery Systems operations at Edwards, executing on the company's growth vision for minimally invasive heart valve surgery. With more than 22 years of experience, the vast majority at a senior level within the medical device industry, Redmond most recently served as General Manager of Edwards' Vascular business, with responsibility for Edwards' global Base Vascular and Peripheral Vascular Stent (PVS) operations. Prior to joining Edwards, Redmond was Vice President, CardioVascular Technologies, at Cordis Cardiology, a Johnson & Johnson company. In this position, he was responsible for the leadership of the CVT business unit and had the oversight of planning, coordination and execution of product management and marketing activities, sales, manufacturing and supply chain for CVT products. Redmond also served as Vice President, New Product Development, at Cordis and has worked for BMR Neurotech, Boston Scientific and other companies in the U.S. and Europe. Redmond received his B.A. in Mathematics and a B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, and also completed the IEP program at I.N.S.E.A.D, the renowned international business program in Paris and Singapore.

Robert C. Reindl Corporate Vice President, Human Resources Robert C. Reindl, age 53. From 1993 through 1995 Reindl was Director of Baxter's Institute for Training and Development, and from 1995 through 1997, he was Vice President of Baxter's Institute for Training and Development. In 1997, he became Vice President, Human Resources, for Baxter's CardioVascular business. From 1987 until 1993, Reindl was a Manager with Arthur Andersen & Co., where he consulted internally on a variety of human resource and organizational development issues, as well as designed management development training. Prior to this, he was a communications instructor for Marietta College and Ohio University. Reindl earned his Bachelor of Science degree in communication from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and his master's degree from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.

Stanton J. Rowe, age 56. He previously served as President and CEO of Percutaneous Valve Technology Inc., which was acquired by Edwards in January 2004. Prior to PVT, which he helped to found in 1999, Rowe was Corporate Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Planning for Datascope Corp. Prior to this, he was Vice President of Business Development for Johnson & Johnson’s Interventional Systems Division (JJIS), responsible for the company’s coronary stent development efforts. At JJIS and the related Cordis Corporation, Rowe held a variety of positions with increasing levels of responsibility, including heading the company’s Business Development, Advanced Technology, Worldwide Clinical Research, and Marketing groups. Rowe joined Cordis after having held several positions in product management for various medical device companies. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama. He also sits on the Board of Directors of both Remon Medical Ltd. and Biomerix Corp.

Dr. Adams has authored over 200 publications, holds two patents, and is recognized as a leading surgeon scientist and medical expert, serving on the Editorial Boards of several prominent journals including the Annals of Thoracic Surgery. He has also served in an advisory capacity to industry leaders in cardiovascular surgery, including Edwards Lifesciences, Carbomedics, Guidant, Medtronic, 3F, Ventrica, and St. Jude Medical. He is the co-inventor of the Carpentier-McCarthy-Adams IMR ETlogix Annuloplasty Ring manufactured by Edwards Lifesciences. His major research interests include the investigation of ischemic mitral regurgitation, outcomes related to mitral valve repair, and novel mitral valve repair strategies. Past research honors include the Alton Ochsner Research Scholarship from the American Association for Thoracic Surgery and the Paul Dudley White Research Fellowship from the American Heart Association.

Dr. Piet Jansen joined WorldHeart in February 2004 as Chief Medical Officer and was appointed Managing Director of WorldHeart's European Operations in July 2004. Dr. Jansen has over 7 years of experience in the implantable ventricular assist industry including senior medical and research roles for Edwards Lifesciences LLC (previously Baxter cardiovascular group) where he worked directly with the Novacor® LVAS, and with Jarvik Heart Inc. where he was Vice-President Clinical Affairs. Piet Jansen earned an MD, PhD in Pathophysiology of Extracorporeal Circulation and a Masters Degree in Epidemiology. In addition, Dr. Jansen has over 8 years clinical experience in cardiac surgery. Dr. Jansen is based out of the Company's European office in Heesch, Netherlands.

John T. Cardis , age 67. Mr. Cardis is a private investor. In May 2004, Mr. Cardis retired as National Managing Partner Global Strategic Clients of Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, an audit, tax, consulting and financial advisory service company. From 1991 through June 1999, Mr. Cardis served as Office Managing Partner, Los Angeles, for Deloitte & Touche. He was also a member of the executive committee and a member of the board of directors. He also is a director of Edwards Lifesciences Corporation, a cardiovascular disease treatment company. He has been a director of Avery Dennison Corporation since October 2004.

Barbara J. McNeil, M.D., Ph.D., has served as a director of CV Therapeutics since December 1994. Since 1990, Dr. McNeil has served as the Ridley Watts Professor of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School. In addition, since 1988, she has served as the Chair of the Department of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School. Since 1983, Dr. McNeil has been a Professor of Radiology at both Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. McNeil serves on the board of directors of Edwards Lifesciences Corporation. Dr. McNeil holds an M.D. from Harvard Medical School and a Ph.D. in biological chemistry from Harvard University.

Mike R. Bowlin served as Chairman of Atlantic Richfield Company from 1995 until his retirement in April 2000. In addition, he held the position of Chief Executive Officer from July 1994 until April 2000. From 1992 until his election to Chief Executive Officer of ARCO in 1994, Mr. Bowlin served as Executive Vice President and then as President and Chief Operating Officer of ARCO. Mr. Bowlin joined ARCO in 1969 and became President of ARCO Coal Company in 1985. He served as ARCO International Oil and Gas Company's Senior Vice President from 1987 to 1992 and President from 1992 to 1993. Mr. Bowlin serves on the Board of Directors of Edwards Lifesciences Corporation and Horizon Health Company. He is a Trustee of the Los Angeles World Affairs Council and a former Chairman of the Board of API.

While at Brentwood, Bill invested in a number of early-stage companies, including eyeonics (private), Genyx (sold), IntraLase (public), Intra Therapeutics (sold), OraMetrix (private) and Refractec (private). His Versant investments include the following private companies: AcuFocus, Cameron Health, Confirma, ForSight, Glaukos, Inogen, NeoVista, Rox Medical, Second Sight and Wavetec. Before entering the healthcare industry, Bill was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Bill earned his Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University. In February 2002, the Orange County Engineering Council named Bill "Engineer of the Year."
