"John C. Lechleiter, Ph.D, is chairman, president and chief executive officer of Eli Lilly and Company. Lechleiter chairs the company’s operations committee, as well as its executive committee. Lechleiter served previously as president and chief operating officer of Lilly, beginning in 2005, when he also joined the board. In 2004, he became Lilly’s executive vice president, pharmaceutical operations. Prior to that, he had served as executive vice president for pharmaceutical products and corporate development since 2001.
Lechleiter received a bachelor of science degree summa cum laude in chemistry from Xavier University (Cincinnati, Ohio) in 1975. He studied organic chemistry as a National Science Foundation Fellow at Harvard University, where he received his master’s and doctorate degrees. In 2006, Lechleiter received an honorary doctorate of business administration from Marian College of Indianapolis.
Joining Lilly in 1979 as a senior organic chemist in process research and development, Lechleiter became head of that department in 1982. In 1984, he began serving as director of pharmaceutical product development for the Lilly Research Centre Limited in Windlesham, England.
He returned to the United States in 1986 as manager of research and development projects for Europe. In 1988, he became director of development projects management, and in 1989 he assumed additional responsibility for pharmaceutical regulatory affairs. In 1991, he was named executive director of pharmaceutical product development, and in 1993, he became vice president. He was appointed vice president of regulatory affairs in 1994. In 1996, he was named vice president for development and regulatory affairs. Lechleiter became senior vice president of pharmaceutical products in 1998.
Lechleiter is a member of the American Chemical Society. He serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) and as a member of the Business Roundtable and the Business Council. In 2004, he was appointed to the Visiting Committee of Harvard Business School and to the Health Policy and Management Executive Council of the Harvard School of Public Health. He also serves as a member of the board of trustees of Xavier University (Cincinnati, Ohio). In addition, he is a distinguished advisor of The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, a member of the board of directors and executive committee of Fairbanks Institute, and a member of the United Way of Central Indiana board of directors. He also serves on the board of Indianapolis Downtown, Inc.

"Elizabeth H. Klimes was named in June 2004 to develop and lead Lilly’s deployment of Six Sigma. She is a member of the company's operations committee and the senior management council. She had been president of specialty care products since December 2002.
A native of Indiana, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University in 1981. She also received a master of business administration degree from Indiana University.
Klimes joined Lilly in 1982 as a design engineer in process automation, and she subsequently worked in manufacturing facility and capacity planning before becoming manager of manufacturing strategy development in 1989. In 1991, she became manager of biochemical manufacturing and was named plant manager for Indianapolis dry product manufacturing in 1993. In 1995, Klimes accepted a position as director of manufacturing for the endocrine business unit and in 1997 became executive director and chief procurement officer. In 1998, she became general manager of Lilly Deutschland GmbH, and she returned to the U.S. as president, diabetes and growth disorders in 2001.
She is a member of the Board of Trustees for Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and the Advisory Board for the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University.

Enrique Conterno was promoted to president of Lilly USA in January 2009. He joins Lilly's operations committee and will remain a member of the senior management council. Prior to his promotion, Conterno served as senior vice president of health care professional markets for Lilly USA.
Born in Lima, Peru, Conterno earned a master's of business administration degree at Duke University in 1992. He earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 1989.

"Jacques Tapiero was named president of the intercontinental region for Lilly in November 2004. The intercontinental region comprises of offices in Asia, Australia, Africa and Middle East Countries, Canada, Latin America and Russia. He also is a member of the company’s senior management council. Tapiero had been president and general manager of Lilly France since December 1999.
Born in Morocco, Tapiero is a Swiss citizen who in 1980 received a master of business administration from the Ecole Superieure de Commerce at Clermond Ferrand in France. In 1982, he obtained a second master of business administration degree at the American Graduate School of International Management in Glendale, Arizona.
Tapiero joined Lilly in 1983 as a financial analyst. He held several sales and finance positions at Indianapolis, France, Sweden, and Switzerland. He was named managing director of Lilly Sweden in 1993. From 1995 to 1999, Tapiero was president and general manager at Lilly Brazil. In late 1999, Tapiero was named president and general manager for Lilly France.
Tapiero is a member of the Thunderbird Global Council, a council of leading business executives who advise Thunderbird, the Garvin School of International Management, the world’s leading international business management education institution.

Jeff Simmons was named president of Elanco Animal Health, the animal health division of Eli Lilly and Company, in April 2008. He is a member of the company's senior management council.

"Newton F. Crenshaw became vice president, global public policy, pricing, reimbursement & access (PRA), and international corporate affairs on July 7, 2008.
Crenshaw had served as president and general manager of Lilly Japan since August 2003.
He received a bachelor of arts degree with honors in economics and mathematics from DePauw University in 1985, where he was a Management Fellow, an honors program for the Center of Management and Entrepreneurship.
Crenshaw joined the company in 1985 as a sales representative in Charlottesville, Virginia. In 1988, he became a marketing analyst and in 1989 a government pricing associate. In December 1989, he was named manager of the Nashville district. He was named manager of marketing research (oral antibiotics and CNS) in 1992. In 1994, he became regional sales director, south central area. He became team leader of business-to-business customer strategy and implementation in 1997 where he built Lilly USA's business-to-business capability. In 1999, he was promoted to vice president, U.S. sales and marketing (primary care and neuroscience). He was named vice president of e.Lilly, formed in July 2000 to accelerate utilization of new business models through the use of digital technologies, as well as the initiation of Lilly's first venture investment fund. In August 2002, he became vice president of communications and public affairs for Lilly.

In 1999, he was promoted to executive director and chief financial officer for European Operations and was based in London until 2004.

"Michael C. Heim became vice president of information technology and chief information officer of Eli Lilly and Company in January 2004. Heim is a member of the operations committee. He had been the chief technology officer with accountability for enterprise architecture and data strategy, the global implementation of SAP, and global financial and human resources information technology solutions since November 1999.
A native of Cincinnati, he received a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from Marian College in 1977 and a master of business administration in 1978 from Bowling Green State University.
Heim joined Lilly in 1979 as an analyst in the corporate information systems group. He become a staff financial auditor in 1981 and later become the company’s first certified information systems auditor. In 1985, he rejoined information systems as manager with responsibility for manufacturing, marketing, financial, and human resource systems support. Following a cross-functional assignment as manager of engineering for facilities delivery administration, he was named director of information systems-medical operations in 1992. In 1995, he was promoted to information officer for Lilly Research Laboratories and in 1998 was named information officer for European and intercontinental operations with responsibility for IT activities outside the United States.
Heim serves on a number of executive councils including the Microsoft Pharmaceutical Advisory Council, the SAP Life Sciences Executive Council, the Dean’s Advisory Council–Indiana University School of Informatics, the Marian College Technology Advisory Board, and the board of directors of Interactive Intelligence Inc.

"Robert A. Armitage became senior vice president and general counsel for Eli Lilly and Company in January 2003, and is a member of the company's executive committee. He joined the company as vice president and general patent counsel, Lilly Research Laboratories, in October 1999.

She has served on a number of state and local commissions and not-for-profit boards, including being appointed as the first chairwoman of the Indiana Commission for Women and past chair of the advisory board of the Salvation Army of Indiana.

"J. Carmel Egan, Ph.D., was named vice president of project management for Lilly in March 2005. Prior to that, she had been vice president, manufacturing science and technology since 2001. She had been executive director of product development since July 2000. She is a member of the senior management council.
Born in Ireland, she received a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from University College, Cork, in 1980 and a doctorate in chemistry in 1984 from the University College, Dublin.
She joined Lilly in 1986 at the affiliate in Kinsale, Ireland, following an industrial postdoctoral fellowship in Puerto Rico. In 1990, she transferred to the United States at Clinton Laboratories as group leader of technical services. Egan moved to corporate headquarters in Indianapolis as manager of development projects management in 1992. She was named head of chemical process research in 1995 and the next year was named manager of regulatory affairs: chemistry, manufacturing and control.
She was named director, development projects management in 1997. The next year, she became the program team leader for SERM III, and the following year was named product team leader for SERM III. In July 2000, she was named executive director of product development.

He returned to Ireland for four years, finishing as director of operations for the Kinsale facility. In 1992, he was assigned to Lilly’s Tippecanoe facilities as manager of bulk pharmaceutical operations. Ahern became plant manager at Lilly’s bulk API facility in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, in 1995. In 1997, he was promoted to general manager for Lilly’s Puerto Rican operations, which included plants at Carolina and Mayaguez.
Ahern is a member of the API Technical Committee of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA).

Mrs. O’Farrell earned an MBA from Indiana University in 1987, where she also earned a BS in Accounting in 1986. She is currently a member of the board of the Washington Township Schools’ Foundation.

Fionnuala Walsh, Ph.D., became vice president of quality for Lilly in July 2007. Prior to that, she had been vice president for global quality operations since 2005. She had been executive director of quality for Lilly Technology Center since 2001. She is a member of the operations committee, the senior management council and a member of the manufacturing policy committee (MPC).
Born in Ireland, she received her bachelor and doctorate degrees in chemistry from University College, Dublin. She joined Lilly in 1988 at the affiliate in Kinsale, Ireland, following an industrial post doctorate fellowship in Puerto Rico. At the Kinsale site, she held roles in technical services (1988), leader of outsourcing projects (1990), newproduct introduction (1994) and leader of the analytical laboratory (1995). She held management positions at the Kinsale site in quality, regulatory and manufacturing science and technology.
In 2002, she transferred to the U.S. as global quality leader for API manufacturing. In 2003, she assumed responsibility as global quality leader-Lilly Technology Center.
She was a member of the Irish Council for Science, Technology and Innovation and is currently a member of the PhRMA API Committee.

"Frank M. Deane, Ph.D., was named president of manufacturing for Lilly in May 2007 and is a member of Lilly’s operations committee and the senior management council. He had been vice president of quality since December 2001.
Deane received a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from University College, Dublin, Ireland, in 1971. He then attended the University of Maryland, receiving master’s and doctorate degrees, both also in chemical engineering, in 1972 and 1974, respectively.
Deane joined Lilly in 1979 and was named manager, technical services/quality control, for the company's bulk manufacturing operations in Kin sale, Ireland, where he had a number of operational responsibilities until being transferred to the U.S. in 1986 as manager of quality control and technical services at the company’s Clinton Laboratories near Clinton, Ind. From there, he moved to Puerto Rico in 1988 where he had general management responsibilities for production, quality, and technical services in Lilly’s Puerto Rican operations. He returned to the U.S. in 1993 as the general manager of U.S. pharmaceutical manufacturing and assumed responsibilities for the company’s worldwide bulk manufacturing operations in 1997.

"J. Erik Fyrwald joined Nalco Holding Company as chairman, president, and chief executive officer in February 2008. He was elected to the Eli Lilly and Company board of directors in 2005.
From 2003 to 2008, Fyrwald served as group vice president of the agriculture and nutrition division at E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company. From 2000 until 2003, he was vice president and general manager of DuPont's Nutrition and Health business. In 1999, Fyrwald was vice president for corporate strategic planning and business development. At DuPont, Fyrwald held a broad variety of assignments in a number of divisions covering many industries. He has worked in several locations throughout North America and Asia.
Fyrwald attended the University of Delaware, where he received a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering in 1981. He also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

"Jack Bailey was promoted to senior vice president, account-based markets, LillyUSA in December 2008. He is a member of the company's senior management council. Bailey had served as vice president, account-based markets, of LillyUSA since June 2008.
He received his bachelor of science degree in biology with a concentration in genetics in 1986 from Hobart College, Geneva, New York and his master of business administration in 1991 from the Kenan-Flagler School at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

In December 1999, he assumed added responsibility for all of Sub-Saharan Africa. In February 2001, he was promoted to lead all of business-to-business in Lilly USA. He was promoted to vice president of business-to-business in August 2005 and added full hospital responsibility to his role in February 2007.
Bailey serves on multiple business and community boards including Joint Commission Resources, Wishard Memorial Foundation, and the Conner Prairie Historical Museum.

Maria Crowe was named vice president for drug product manufacturing in the Americas--the United States and Latin America--in July 2007. Her organization includes sites that manufacture tablets and capsules, as well as injectable products formulated into vials or injection pens, and other delivery methods. U.S. distribution also falls under Crowe’s responsibility, and she leads the global dry-products network. She is a member of the company’s senior management council.
Prior to her promotion, Crowe was site head at Kinsale, Ireland, for two years. Before that, she was general manager of Lilly del Caribe in Puerto Rico for several years. In her 25-year career at Lilly, Crowe has held numerous roles in dry products, parenteral, and API manufacturing, as well as in sourcing and procurement.
Crowe's business management experience includes responsibilities for the start-up of two new Lilly sites in Puerto Rico during her tenure, as well as planning for the new biotech operation at Kinsale.

Martin also has held positions in Lilly Research Laboratories (LRL) financial and human resources.

"Thomas Verhoeven, Ph.D., was named president, global product development for Eli Lilly and Company in April 2008. Verhoeven holds a total of 46 patents across a range of technologies, including the synthetic application of poly-anion intermediates, asymmetric hydrogenation, enantioselective reduction, and bioconversions.

W. Darin Moody is vice president, corporate engineering and continuous improvement for Eli Lilly and Company. In this role, he is responsible for global engineering and maintenance activity as well as the Six Sigma initiative within manufacturing and quality. He is a member of the company’s senior management council.
A native of Jeffersonville, Indiana, he joined Lilly in 1987 after graduating from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with a B.S. degree in chemical engineering. His initial assignment was in global facilities delivery, where he worked on the design and construction of active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturing facilities. From 1990 to 1999, he moved through a series of production and engineering assignments first at department head level at Clinton Laboratories and then at manager level within Indianapolis bulk insulin manufacturing. He then moved to the United Kingdom, becoming general manager of the Speke operations manufacturing site located in Liverpool.
He returned to Indianapolis in 2001, having assignments as plant manager and general manager within bulk insulin manufacturing before becoming executive director of global process and maintenance engineering in 2004. He assumed his current responsibilities in September 2007, after an assignment as Six Sigma champion for manufacturing and quality.
Moody currently serves on the board of trustees of The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and is a member of the International Leadership Forum of the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers.
He is a past board member of the Charles T. Hyte Community Center in Terre Haute, Indiana; The Partnership for Learning in Liverpool, United Kingdom; and the Eli Lilly Federal Credit Union in Indianapolis, Indiana.

William F. Heath Jr., Ph.D., was named vice president of product research and development for Eli Lilly and Company in April 2008. He has made major contributions to the company’s efforts on kinase inhibitors, lead generation technologies, and protein engineering.
Heath is an author on more than 30 peer-reviewed publications and is an inventor on 44 issued patents.

"William W. Chin, M.D., became vice president of discovery research and clinical investigation for Eli Lilly and Company in November 2006. He serves as a member of the company’s senior management council. He previously was vice president of discovery biology research and clinical investigation.
Born in New York, Chin received his A.B. in chemistry summa cum laude from Columbia College in 1968 and his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 1972. He then completed a residency in internal medicine at the Beth Israel Hospital and a fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts.
Prior to joining Lilly in January 1999, Chin was professor of medicine, and professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive biology at Harvard Medical School; investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute; and chief of the division of genetics and senior physician at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston.
Chin is a world-renowned molecular endocrinologist who has pioneered the understanding of the mechanisms of nuclear receptor action with a focus on thyroid, estrogen, and other hormones, as well as various aspects of hormonal regulation of pituitary hormone gene expression. As the leader of the genetics program at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, he was responsible for the establishment of genomics, bioinformatics, and clinical genetics in the practice of medicine. He is author or co-author of more than 270 original papers, invited chapters or books, and he has served on numerous editorial boards and private and governmental review panels.
He has received many accolades, including the Robert H. Williams Distinguished Leadership Award from the Endocrine Society, the Sidney H. Ingbar and Van Meter Awards from the American Thyroid Association, the Bowditch Award from the American Physiological Society, and the AFCR Young Investigator Award, and election to the American Society for Clinical Investigation and the American Association of Physicians. Chin has been a member of the board of scientific counselors of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) and National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and chair of the NIH endocrinology study section. He has also provided leadership on the council of several key professional societies, including service as president of the American Thyroid Association and the Interurban Clinical Club.
Chin has also been an overseer of the New England Conservatory of Music and a co-chair of Project Success, a science program for underprivileged secondary students in Boston.

Darren J. Carroll is Executive Director of New Ventures for Eli Lilly and Company, a leading innovation driven pharmaceutical corporation. The New Ventures group is responsible for all venture capital investments made by Lilly, as well as development and incubation of new business models. Prior to assuming his role at New Ventures, Darren was the founding chief executive officer of InnoCentive, Inc., the first e-business venture created by Lilly. Among other positions at Lilly and Company, he was the U.S. attorney for Prozac , responsible for advising the company on all legal issues pertaining to the marketing and related clinical development of antidepressants in the Lilly pipeline. Darren has also served as senior vice president of RealMed, which created the first U.S. real-time health claims adjudication system. Earlier in his career, he practiced law with a large private law firm in New York and negotiated technology transactions for General Electric Company. His education includes a J.D. degree from the Syracuse University College of Law. At Syracuse, where he was a member of the Law Review and Order of the Coif. He also holds a bachelor's from Syracuse University (Phi Beta Kappa) and a masters of public administration degree from the Maxwell School of Syracuse, where he is a member of the Board of Advisors. "Peter Johnson was named Executive Director of Corporate Strategic Planning at Eli Lilly Company in October, 2001. He is also a member of the company’s Senior Management Council, and serves as the Secretary of the Executive Committee.
Johnson graduated summa cum laude from the University of New Haven in 1981 with a degree in English Literature. He received a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the Stern School of New York University in 1986.
Johnson joined Lilly in June 1986 in New York as a financial analyst at Elizabeth Arden. Following the sale of Arden, he relocated to Indianapolis in 1987.
In Indianapolis, Indiana, Johnson moved through a series of financial assignments from 1987 to 1991: Corporate Staff Auditor, Financial Analyst in the U.S. pharmaceutical business and Financial Manager supporting Lilly’s Puerto Rico and European manufacturing operations.
In 1992, Johnson began a series of jobs with Lilly’s manufacturing operations. First, as the Production Manager in Indianapolis’ parenteral operations for Diabetes Care products, then as the Director of Strategic Facilities Planning and finally as Director of Global Manufacturing Strategy.
In 1996, Johnson was named Director of Corporate Strategic Planning.
Johnson is a member of the Business Advisory Council for the Farmer School of Business at Miami University (Ohio). He has served as a Board Member and is a past Board President for Child Advocates, an organization that represents abused and neglected children in Indianapolis. He has also been active in youth soccer in central Indiana and was named Boys Soccer Coach of the Year in 1996 by the Indiana Youth Soccer Association.

Dr. William Macias is Senior Medical Director for the cardiovascular and acute care platform team at Eli Lilly and Company. In his role, Dr. Macias has worldwide responsibility for the clinical development of multiple compounds in cardiovascular and critical care medicine. Most recently, he oversaw the late phase clinical development, submission and registration of Xigris for the treatment of patients with severe sepsis. Since 1996, Dr. Macias has been involved in the design and conduct of Phase IIa, Phase IIb, Phase III and Phase IV studies of multiple compounds for the treatment of severe sepsis and acute coronary syndromes. Prior to joining Lilly, Dr. Macias was an Associate Professor of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, Indiana. As a board certified intensivist and nephrologist, he was medical director for the renal intensive care and acute dialysis units at Indiana University Hospital and fellowship director for the nephrology fellowship program. He received his fellowship training and residency training in Internal Medicine at Indiana University. He received the PhD degree in physiology in 1991 and the MD degree in 1983, both from Indiana University School of Medicine.

Joan Gore is the Manager of the US Clinical Trial Planning and Packaging organization at Eli Lilly and Co. Gore, a registered pharmacist, has expertise in both oral and parenteral manufacturing, packaging, parenteral formulation development, CT material supply, GMPs, import/export regulations, supply chain management, global business process improvement, and third party management. The vast majority of her nearly 23-year career at Eli Lilly has been spent in the Clinical Trial Materials area where she has held a variety of jobs of increasing responsibility. Gore has been a manager in the area for eight years where she has been responsible for all aspects of the CT Material organization. During that time, she also led strategy development for CTM and the broader product development division. Gore has been on the ISPE Clinical Materials Committee (North American Regional Steering Committee) since 2002 and is currently serving as the Chair of the committee. During her time on the steering committee she helped revise the Introductory US Clinical Trial Materials Training Guide and was an author of the recently published Comprehensive Guide to Clinical Materials. As part of her role as Chair, she has been actively working on the consolidation/globalization of the North American (CMC) and European (IMPG) COPs. She serves on the ISPE Community of Practice Council. Gore also has participated in the Investigational Materials Discussion Group and the Midwest Clinical Supply Group.

"Alex M. Azar II became vice president of business-to-business and Puerto Rico for LillyUSA in April 2009 and is a member of the company’s senior management council. He joined the company as senior vice president of corporate affairs and communications in June 2007, in which position he was also an executive officer of Eli Lilly and Company and a member of the firm’s executive and operations committees.
Azar received a bachelor degree summa cum laude with highest honors in government and economics from Dartmouth College in 1988. He earned his law degree at the Yale Law School in 1991, where he served as a member of the executive committee of the Yale Law Journal. He clerked for Judge J. Michael Luttig of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and for Associate Justice Antonin Scalia of the Supreme Court of the United States. Azar was also a partner at Wiley, Rein & Fielding in Washington, D.C.
From 2005 to 2007, Azar served as Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where he was the number two official and chief operating officer for the largest civilian cabinet department in the U.S. government, with a budget of $698 billion and over 66,000 employees reporting up to him. On behalf of the Secretary, he oversaw all HHS programs and operations, including Medicare, Medicaid, public health, medical research, the regulation of food and drugs, public health emergency preparedness and response, and many other activities. From 2001 to 2005, he served HHS as General Counsel.
Secretary Azar has extensive global health diplomacy and international experience, including leading U.S. government efforts to encourage worldwide pharmaceutical and medical device innovation. He also served as the U.S. Co-Chair of the U.S.-E.U. Summit on Prevention and was a member of the U.S.-Ireland Research and Development Steering Committee.
Secretary Azar is a recipient of the Surgeon General’s Medallion, the highest medal awarded to civilians by the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.
He is a member of the Board of the Indianapolis Airport Authority; the Board of Directors of the National Association of Manufacturers, the Indianapolis Symphony Society, and the Health Coverage Foundation; as well as the Board of Trustees of the Healthcare Leadership Council. Secretary Azar also serves on the Dean’s External Advisory Board for the Indiana University School of Medicine, the Board of Advisors for the George Mason University School of Law, and the Nominating Committee of the Indianapolis Museum of Art. He is also a member of the National Practitioners Advisory Council of the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies.

Diana Todd is a retired teacher from Jefferson County Public Schools. She taught for twenty-seven years in Louisville, Kentucky. She received her undergraduate and masters degrees in education from the University of Louisville. Diana is married to James Ashton. He is retired from Prairie Farms Dairy and is now employed by Jefferson County Public Schools. Diana has one son, Joshua Todd. John McShanea s diverse background in training and development includes initiatives in change management, process/systems mapping, supervisor/management coaching, 360 feedback coaching, career coaching, and job/task analysis. Oberhelman was elected a vice president in 1995, serving as Caterpillar’s chief financial officer with administrative responsibility for the corporation’s accounting, information services, tax, treasury, investor relations and marketing support services areas from 1995 to November 1998. In 1998, he became vice president with responsibility for the Engine Products Division, including the market development, strategic planning, supplier management, electric power generation and worldwide marketing and administration for Caterpillar’s engine business. He was elected a group president and member of Caterpillar’s executive office in 2002.
Oberhelman has a bachelor’s degree from Millikin University. Prendergast began his career at the Mayo Medical School as an instructor in physiology in 1975. In 1977 he became associate consultant in pharmacology at the Mayo Foundation and assistant professor in pharmacology of the Mayo Medical School. Three years later he was named consultant in pharmacology at the Mayo Foundation and associate professor in pharmacology at the Mayo Medical School. In 1985 he became consultant and chair of the department of biochemistry and molecular biology for the Mayo Foundation. He became professor in pharmacology and professor in biochemistry and molecular biology at the Mayo Medical School in 1986. He was named director of research for Mayo Rochester in 1992. He serves on the board of trustees of the Mayo Foundation.
Prendergast has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards, including Edmond and Marion Guggenheim Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (1987) and Mayo Distinguished Investigator (1988). He is a member of the American Chemical Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Biophysical Society, Sigma Xi, the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and the American Cancer Society.

"J. Erik Fyrwald joined Nalco Holding Company as chairman, president, and chief executive officer in February 2008. He was elected to the Eli Lilly and Company board of directors in 2005.
From 2003 to 2008, Fyrwald served as group vice president of the agriculture and nutrition division at E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company. From 2000 until 2003, he was vice president and general manager of DuPont's Nutrition and Health business. In 1999, Fyrwald was vice president for corporate strategic planning and business development. At DuPont, Fyrwald held a broad variety of assignments in a number of divisions covering many industries. He has worked in several locations throughout North America and Asia.

"John C. Lechleiter, Ph.D, is chairman, president and chief executive officer of Eli Lilly and Company. Lechleiter chairs the company’s operations committee, as well as its executive committee. Lechleiter served previously as president and chief operating officer of Lilly, beginning in 2005, when he also joined the board. In 2004, he became Lilly’s executive vice president, pharmaceutical operations. Prior to that, he had served as executive vice president for pharmaceutical products and corporate development since 2001.
Lechleiter received a bachelor of science degree summa cum laude in chemistry from Xavier University (Cincinnati, Ohio) in 1975. He studied organic chemistry as a National Science Foundation Fellow at Harvard University, where he received his master’s and doctorate degrees. In 2006, Lechleiter received an honorary doctorate of business administration from Marian College of Indianapolis.
Joining Lilly in 1979 as a senior organic chemist in process research and development, Lechleiter became head of that department in 1982. In 1984, he began serving as director of pharmaceutical product development for the Lilly Research Centre Limited in Windlesham, England.
He returned to the United States in 1986 as manager of research and development projects for Europe. In 1988, he became director of development projects management, and in 1989 he assumed additional responsibility for pharmaceutical regulatory affairs. In 1991, he was named executive director of pharmaceutical product development, and in 1993, he became vice president. He was appointed vice president of regulatory affairs in 1994. In 1996, he was named vice president for development and regulatory affairs. Lechleiter became senior vice president of pharmaceutical products in 1998.
Lechleiter is a member of the American Chemical Society. He serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) and as a member of the Business Roundtable and the Business Council. In 2004, he was appointed to the Visiting Committee of Harvard Business School and to the Health Policy and Management Executive Council of the Harvard School of Public Health. He also serves as a member of the board of trustees of Xavier University (Cincinnati, Ohio). In addition, he is a distinguished advisor of The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, a member of the board of directors and executive committee of Fairbanks Institute, and a member of the United Way of Central Indiana board of directors. He also serves on the board of Indianapolis Downtown, Inc.
