Elixir Pharmaceuticals Inc.

Ms. Roberts is Vice President of Finance and Administration at Elixir. She is a seasoned financial manager with previous experience in biotechnology and early stage companies. Prior to joining Elixir, she was Vice President of Finance at Frontline Group, Director of Finance at Dyax Corp., a diversified biotechnology company, and Corporate Controller and Director of Financial Administration at T Cell Sciences, Inc., now known as Avant Immunotherapeutics, Inc., a public biopharmaceutical company.

Vernon Cassin is a partner with the International Law Firm in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia where he counsels local and international banks and corporations as well as family offices and governmental entities. In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Cassin also represents Saudi Arabian institutional and private investors with respect to their investments in Europe and the United States. Mr. Cassin serves on a number of boards of directors of privately held companies and serves as an International Advisor to Clarium Venture Partners in San Francisco, a Special Partner with Amerscan Venture Partners in London and Senior Advisor to the Saudi Venture Development Company in Saudi Arabia. Prior to his joining the International Law Firm, Mr. Cassin was a partner at Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue, a U.S. law firm, from 1988 to 2000. Mr. Cassin received his A.B. from Princeton University in Near Eastern Studies and his J.D. from Harvard Law School and read economics at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London.

Jonathan J. Fleming is one of our co-founders and is Chairman of our Board of Directors. Mr. Fleming served as Chairman from January 1998 to May 2005 and assumed the position again in October 2006. Mr. Fleming has served as the Managing Partner of Oxford Bioscience Partners, a venture capital firm specializing in life science technology since 1996. Prior to joining Oxford Bioscience, he served as a Founding Partner of MVP Ventures in Boston, Massachusetts. Mr. Fleming serves as a member of the board of directors of Imcor Pharmaceutical Co. (formerly Photogen Technologies, Inc.), a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on developing medical imaging pharmaceutical products. He also serves as Chairman of the board of directors of BioProcessors Corporation, a privately-held corporation, and as a director of seven other privately-held companies, including Leerink Swann & Company, Inc., a Boston-based investment bank specializing in health care companies. Mr. Fleming is a Trustee of the Museum of Science in Boston and is a Senior Lecturer at Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management. Mr. Fleming received a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley and a Masters in Public Administration from Princeton University.

Stephen R. Farmer, Ph.D. Dr. Farmer is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM). Dr. Farmer has been a member of the faculty at BUSM since 1981 and prior to that was a research associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. During the last 15 years his investigations have focused on the role of transcription factors in regulating expression of metabolic genes during the switch between growth and differentiation in hepatocytes and adipocytes. Dr. Farmer has also served on several review committees for NIH and the American Heart Association and is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Biological Chemistry and Obesity Research. He also serves on the planning committee for the Annual Meeting of the North American Association for the Study of Obesity (NAASO) and has chaired several meetings including the 2004 Keystone meeting on Molecular Aspects of Adipogenesis and Obesity.
