Andrew brings over 30 yearsa experience of the telecoms industry to Equant. As managing director for the UK operation, he is responsible for executing the company vision at a local level and focusing on positioning the company as a service rather than a network provider. Andrew oversees the growth and expansion of the UK business, both to sell to current clients and acquire new customers. Andrew has worked with several of the worlda s leading telecoms providers throughout his career, including Cable & Wireless, Deutsche Telekom and subsequently France Telecom, in a variety of international and sales roles. Starting his career at Cable & Wireless, Andrew spent twelve years with the company, mainly in an international operations capacity. From here, he moved to PriceWaterhouse where he was responsible for its internal infrastructure. Rejoining Cable & Wireless he was part of the project team that created Mercury Communications, the UKa s second largest telecoms company at that time, which prompted his subsequent move to international business development. Here, his role was to build the companya s relationship with leading partners and European PTTa s. Andrew excelled in his international role, so when approached by Deutsche Telekom with the role of setting up its UK operations in 1990, Andrew took the opportunity. It was at Deutsche Telekom that Andrew began working with France Telecom, developing the idea of creating a European telecoms carrier. Through this process, Global One, the European-US telecoms alliance was created, which Andrew worked closely with. His first position at Global One was as head of pre- and post-sales for EMEA. Having been based in the UK up to 1994, he then moved to Brussels to manage a multinational team within the organisation and subsequently moved to Germany. Andrewa s involvement with France Telecom moved up a gear in 1999, when France Telecom acquired Sprint and Deutsche Telekoma s share of Global One and he was given the responsibility of general manger for Global One in Germany. In this role, Andrew successfully oversaw the deployment of a whole new telecoms infrastructure across the country and implemented a direct sales operation. With Global Onea s merger with Equant in 2001, Andrew was appointed country manager for Equant Germany. At the end of 2003, Andrew moved to head sales for EMEA with responsibility for the overall go-to-market strategy. Due to the success in this role Andrew moved into the position of UK managing director for Equant in March 2005.
