Wafers anyone? Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (NYSE: TSM (ADR) Taiwan) is the first and largest dedicated semiconductor foundry. It deals with integrated circuits, other semiconductor devices, and the manufacture of masks. It makes chips for manufacturers such as Philips and Motorola and fabless chip companies such as Broadcom and NVIDIA. It offers various wafer fabrication and processing services. Founded in 1987 and headquartered in Hsinchu, Taiwan, this NTD266 billion company employs about 20,100 people. In March 2006 the company was named a recipient of Intel Corporation's Preferred Quality Supplier (PQS) award for outstanding performance in providing products and services deemed essential to Intel's success.
