Extra Space Storage Inc.

Spencer Kirk became EXR's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer on April 1, 2009. He previously served as the Company's President since September 2007 and as our predecessor's Executive Vice President from 1998 to 2004. Mr. Kirk directs all strategic planning and oversees the business operations of the Company. Mr. Kirk has been associated with the Extra Space Storage organization for nearly ten years, having served as Executive Vice President of the company for seven years, and as a Director of the Company since its IPO in 2004. As the owner of more than 2.3 million shares, Mr. Kirk is EXR's largest private individual shareholder. Mr. Kirk began his career when he co-founded Megahertz Corporation in 1985, which became the leading manufacturer of modems for laptop computers in the world. Serving as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, the company grew from a basement operation to the leading supplier of solution-oriented mobile data communications products. In 1988 the company was one of the first to offer third-party modems for the nascent laptop computer market. Megahertz went public in 1993 and the following year was acquired by US Robotics, which was later acquired by 3Com Corp. Mr. Kirk holds a BA in finance and an MBA from the University of Utah.

Karl Haas joined Extra Space Storage in July 2005 and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Extra Space Storage's 600-plus self-storage properties. Prior to joining Extra Space Storage, Mr. Haas served as the Executive Vice President of Operations for Storage USA since 1994. From 1988 to 1994, Mr. Haas served in various executive positions for Storage USA. Prior to Storage USA, Mr. Haas was the controller at Hitman Medical Systems, and served in various audit roles with Arthur Young. Mr. Haas received his BA from the University of Maryland and obtained is CPA in 1973.

Kent Christensen has served as our Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since our inception, and was the Chief Financial Officer of our predecessor since 1998. Prior to joining our predecessor, Kent Christensen was the Chief Financial Officer of Source One Management for 10 years, where he designed and installed financial and accounting systems for the geographically dispersed organization. Prior to his time at Source One, he worked at KPMG Peat Marwick. Mr. Christensen holds a BS and an Masters in accounting from Utah State University.

Vicki is the Store Manager for Extra Space Storage here in Crofton. She has served on the Board of Directors - in charge of New Members and Member Retention - since 2003. She was the Business Leader of the Year for 2006.

Anthony Fanticola currently manages his personal portfolio. He formerly served as the owner, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of A. Fanticola Companies, Inc., Oil Express, Inc. and Lube Pit, Inc. (parent companies of 90 Jiffy Lube stores located in Southern California, Seattle/ Tacoma, Washington and in Tucson, Arizona). Prior to his involvement with Oil Express, Inc. and Lube Pit, Inc., Mr. Fanticola owned and operated a variety of privately owned businesses and served as Vice President of Vons Food and Drug where he was responsible for overseeing approximately $800 million in sales.

Mr. Margolis is a co-founding partner of Arsenal Real Estate Funds. Prior to forming Arsenal, Mr. Margolis was employed by Prudential Real Estate Investors (PREI) and was a major contributor to the success of PREI's value-added platform. Prior to forming Arsenal, Mr. Margolis worked with Mr. Maurer and Mr. Picone for seven and sixteen years, respectively. Mr. Margolis has transactions, capital markets, fund raising, fund management and legal experience and has managed institutional and taxable investor core and higher return real estate programs. He has a successful track record in managing the take-over and turn-around of under-performing portfolios, as well as developing, launching and investing for new product offerings, including those for off-shore investors.
