Family Dollar Stores Inc.

Mr. Levine has been the Chairman of the Board since January 2003 and Chief Executive Officer of Family Dollar since August 1998. Mr. Levine was employed by the Company in various capacities in the Merchandising Department from 1981 to 1987, including employment as Senior Vice President – Merchandising and Advertising. From 1988 to 1992, Mr. Levine was President of Best Price Clothing Stores, Inc., a chain of ladies’ apparel stores. He rejoined the Company in April 1996, and was elected Vice President – General Merchandise Manager: Softlines in April 1996, Senior Vice President – Merchandising and Advertising in September 1996, President and Chief Operating Officer in April 1997, and Chief Executive Officer in August 1998. In addition, Mr. Levine serves as a member on the Equity Award Committee. He is the son of Mr. Leon Levine, the Founder of the Company who retired in January 2003.

Charles Gibson has been promoted to executive vice president-distribution and logistics of discount retailer Family Dollar Stores Inc. (www.familydollar.com). He was previously senior vice president of distribution and logistics.

Mr. Dolby has been President of the Edward C. Dolby Strategic Consulting Group, LLC, since September 2002, when he established the company to engage in business consulting. Prior to his retirement in December 2001, Mr. Dolby was employed by Bank of America Corporation for thirty-two years, where his positions included President of the North Carolina and South Carolina Consumer and Commercial Bank.

Angela Strome joined Rinehart & Associates in October 2006 after working for Family Dollar Stores Inc. as a Forecast Analyst. In her role as Client Services Associate she works closely with the Financial Advisors and clients, assisting them with activities related to account openings, transfers and ongoing service.

Mr. Mahoney retired in May 2005 as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Family Dollar.

Glenn A. Eisenberg is executive vice president – finance and administration and chief financial officer of The Timken Company. He also is an officer of the company. Eisenberg is responsible for the executive leadership of the company’s financial organization, including accounting, tax, treasury, audit, risk management, financial analysis and investor relations. He also has responsibility for strategic planning, corporate development, communications, community relations, information technology and shared services. He is a member of the company’s executive council. Since joining Timken in 2001, Eisenberg has been instrumental in executing Timken’s global growth and financial strategies, including the billion-dollar acquisition of The Torrington Company. Prior to joining the company, Eisenberg served as president and chief operating officer of United Dominion Industries, a diversified industrial manufacturing company with $2.5 billion in sales, prior to its acquisition by SPX Corporation. At UDI, he also held the positions of president – test instrument segment, executive vice president and chief financial officer and vice president – planning and development. Before joining UDI in 1990, he was a vice president at the Citizens and Southern Corporation. Eisenberg serves on the boards of directors for Family Dollar Stores Inc. (NYSE: FDO) and Alpha Natural Resources Inc. (NYSE: ANR). In addition, he serves on the boards of Aultman Hospital and the Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and environmental studies from Tulane University and a master’s degree in business administration from Georgia State University.

Dr. Martin has been one of our directors since June 2, 1997. Since July of 2008, he has been Senior Advisor of McGuireWoods Consulting and currently serves as a director for Family Dollar, Inc. and DesignLine, Inc. From 1995 until 2008, he served as Vice President of Carolinas HealthCare System where he was also Chairman of the Research Development Board of Carolinas Medical Center from 1993 until 2000. From 1985 until 1993, Dr. Martin was the Governor of North Carolina. Prior to that position, he served as a United States Congressman from North Carolina from 1973 through 1984. From 1960 until 1972, Dr. Martin was an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Davidson College. Dr. Martin has a B.S. in chemistry from Davidson College and a Ph.D. in chemistry from Princeton University.

Dr. Davies has been the President of Queens University of Charlotte since July 2002. Dr. Davies was the Dean of the McColl School of Business, Queens University of Charlotte from June 2000 until March 2001, when she was appointed Chief Operating Officer of the University. From June 1997 to June 2000, she served as Professor of Management and Dean of the Bennett S. LeBow College of Business at Drexel University. From 1992 to 1997, Dr. Davies served as Chairman of the Department of Management at the University of Central Florida. Her professional specialization is in the field of strategic planning with a particular emphasis on competitive and marketing strategy. Dr. Davies is also a director of Charming Shoppes, Inc., C&D Technologies, Inc., and Sonoco Products Company.
