Chuck joined the company in 1975 as general manager of the company's Walla Walla (WA) Union-Bulletin affiliate newspaper. He became publisher of the Union-Bulletin in 1979. He assumed the publisher's position at the Yakima (WA) Herald-Republic, another affiliate newspaper, in 1996. When The Seattle Times Company purchased Blethen Maine Newspapers in November 1998, Chuck was named publisher and CEO. In addition to this role, he has corporate responsibility for all affiliate newspapers. Chuck, a graduate of Lake Erie College, has held numerous community volunteer board positions and over the years has been active in regional and national newspaper organizations.

Allison Espiritu graduated from the University of Washington in 2007 with a degree in journalism. She has worked for a number of Seattle area newspapers including the International Examiner, OnePhilippines, the North Seattle Herald Outlook, and the Madison Park Times. Charles Bell is the Programs Director for Consumers Union. In that capacity, he provides fiscal and administrative oversight of Consumer Reports WebWatch, and assists with research, media work, policy development and coordination. In his work in the executive office of Consumers Union, Bell provides staff support to James Guest, Consumers Union's President, and oversees special initiatives that involve outside funding and external alliances. These include Consumer Reports WebWatch, and the Center for Consumer Health Choices, which provides comparative information on health insurance and health care. Bell also works closely with Consumers Union's advocacy offices in California, New York, Texas and Washington, DC on a wide range of consumer policy issues, including the Internet, the environment, financial services and health care. He also manages the Colston E. Warne Program, which provides financial and technical support for U.S. and international consumer organizations. Since joining Consumers Union in 1989, Bell has written articles on health care and consumer affairs topics which have been published in the Charlotte Observer, the Journal News, the San Francisco Examiner, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Seattle Times, and the Bulletin of the New York Academy of Medicine. Bell holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Antioch University, Seattle, Wash. He studied at the Atkinson Graduate School of Management at Willamette University, Salem, Ore., and is currently pursuing a master's degree in international business at the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs.

Rabbi Mark S. Glickman has served as the spiritual leader of Congregation Kol Shalom, on Bainbridge Island, WA since July, 2004, and of Congregation Kol Ami, in Woodinville, WA since July, 2006. He is a regular religion columnist for the Seattle Times, and he serves on the faculties of Pacific Lutheran University and Seattle University. From 1997-2004, he was rabbi of Temple Beth El in Tacoma, Washington. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio and raised in suburban Chicago, Rabbi Glickman graduated cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis in 1985. He received his Rabbinical Ordination from Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati in 1990. After serving as the Union of American Hebrew Congregations' Director of Youth Leadership for one year, Rabbi Glickman became the Assistant Rabbi of Temple Israel in Dayton, Ohio. Later promoted to Associate Rabbi, Rabbi Glickman served in Dayton for six years. Rabbi Glickman is affiliated with a variety of community and civic organizations, and has written and spoken on many topics concerning Judaism and modern life.

Paul de Barros is the jazz columnist for the Seattle Times, adjunct music professor at Seattle University, a regular contributor to Down Beat magazine and founder of the Seattle jazz support organization, Earshot Jazz. In 1993, his comprehensive history of the early Seattle jazz scene, Jackson Street After Hours (Sasquatch, Seattle) won the Governor's Writer's Award. A 2003-04 fellow in the National Arts Journalism Program, speaker for the Washington Commission for the Humanities' "Inquiring Mind" program and curator of the Experience Music Project's jazz showcase, de Barros has written for Musician, Modern Drummer, the Antioch Review, the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and the Philadelphia Inquirer, and has done liner notes for Columbia, Fantasy and Verve Records. In 1990, Mr. de Barros served on the Lila Wallace/Reader?s Digest jazz advisory study panel. From 1991-1995, he was Program Director the Northwest Folklife Festival.

Cheryl Phillips (president) is deputy investigations editor at The Seattle Times; where she was an investigative reporter from 2002 until January 2007. In Seattle, she has twice been a member of reporting teams that were finalists for the Pulitzer prize. Most recently, Phillips reported and wrote for the "Your Courts, Their Secrets" series, which was a finalist for the Pulitzer in investigative reporting this year. She also was part of a team that reported on the Washington, D.C., sniper suspects in 2002. That coverage was a Pulitzer finalist in the breaking news category. Previously, she has worked as computer-assisted reporting editor for USA Today's sports section, as a CAR projects editor at The Detroit News, covered local government and the state legislature at the Great Falls Tribune in Montana and was a reporter at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, where she covered stadium issues of the Texas Rangers baseball team and wrote about then-team owner George W. Dave serves as executive editor of The Seattle Times. He has oversight and responsibility for the news department of Washington state's largest newspaper, and for its Web site, seattletimes.com. As an editor for The Times, Dave has directed two Pulitzer Prize-winning team projects and edited six other stories that were Pulitzer finalists. Before joining The Times in 1983, Boardman was a reporter and editor at several papers in the Northwest, and worked on a construction project in Liberia, West Africa.
