Derek Bottom joined the Board of Governors in 2006. In his day job, he is Head of Business with HBOS Plc. He has held a number of senior roles within the bank covering a range of disciplines including Corporate Banking, Sales and Marketing, E-commerce,and Operational and Credit Risk Management. He recognises that he has been very fortunate in the range of experiences he has had throughout his career and was keen to take up the opportunity to re-invest some of these experiences back into the voluntary sector. HBOS fully supports colleagues who are keen to become involved in the charitable sector by allowing them to spend several days a year in this area. Outside work, Derek enjoys a range of sports including Cycling, Football and Hillwalking. He has completed many fundraising charity events and last year completed LeJog, cycling Lands End to John O' Groats in 10 days. He has a wife and two teenage children and lives in Dunfermline.

Kate Nealon was appointed a Non-executive Director in January 2005 and became Chairman of the Remuneration Committee and a member of the Nominations Committee on 1 April 2006. She is also a member of the Company's Audit Committee. Kate is a US-qualified lawyer and was Group Head of Legal and Compliance for Standard Chartered plc until 2004. Kate previously practised international banking and regulatory law in New York. Kate is a Non-executive Director of HBOS plc and Monitor (the independent regulator of the NHS Foundation Trust Hospitals) as well as being a senior associate of the Judge Business School at Cambridge University.

Ray Macfarlane is head of community relations, sponsorship and Scottish Government relations with HBOS plc. Currently based in Edinburgh, she is responsible for the HBOS group strategy for corporate social responsibilty including sponsorship activity and the HBOS Foundation.

Dan graduated from Oxford in 1985 with a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. Dan worked in the City for Morgan Grenfell before joining Birmingham Midshires in 1993 where he worked in risk management . He became Treasurer in 1996. After a number of senior roles within Birmingham Midshires, he became Managing Director in September 2001 and joined the Retail board. He led Birmingham Midshires through a period of significant change and growth, as it became part of the HBOS group. In January 2005 Dan became Head of Retail Risk. He was appointed to the position of Group Risk Director, becoming a member of the Executive Committee, in March 2006.

Tony Hobson was appointed as Chairman to the Board on 24 May 2007. Tony is also a Director of Cenkos Securities plc which is admitted to AIM. He was previously Group Finance Director of Legal & General Group plc for fourteen years retiring in 2001 ; and the Senior Independent Director of Thames Water plc, prior to its acquisition by RWE in 2000. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Darden Graduate School of Business, University of Virginia.
