Ashok Jhunjhunwala, Ph.D., is Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras (Chennai), India. He was Department Chair till recently. He has been teaching at IIT, Madras since 1981, where he now leads the Telecommunications and Computer Networks (TeNeT) group at IIT Madras. This group works closely with industry in the development of a number of Telecommunications and Computer Network Systems. TeNeT group has incubated a number of technology companies which work in partnership with TeNeT group to develop world class Telecom Access products. The group has also incubated a company which aims to install and operate telephones and Internet connections in every village in India. Ashok Jhunjhunwala was awarded the Padma Shri in the year 2002. He has been awarded the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in 1998, the Dr.Vikram Sarabhai Research Award for the year 1997, the Millennium Medal at Indian Science Congress in the year 2000 and the H. K. Firodia for "Excellence in Science & Technology" for the year 2002. He is a Fellow of INAE, INSA and NAS and a member of the Prime Minister's Scientific Advisory Committee. Jhunjhunwala is a Director in the Board of SBI. He is also a Board member of several Telecom and IT companies in India, including Polaris, Sasken, Tejas and HTL, NRDC, and IDRBT. He has been Board member of VSNL & BSNL in the past. From 1979 to 1981, he was an Assistant Professor at the Washington State University. He received his B.Tech degree from IIT, Kanpur, and his M.Sc as well as his Ph.D degrees from the University of Maine, USA.

As president and managing director of Tata Communications International Pte. Ltd., a subsidiary of Tata Communications Limited, Mr. Kumar is responsible for expanding Tata Communications International's roadmap and charter into the global communications market. Enhancing the service capabilities and customer facing activities in strategic markets beyond the shores of India in a nut shell sums his mandate. Besides heading these strategic initiatives, Mr. Kumar is also responsible for the Wholesale Data, Global Mobile and International Enterprise lines of business and meeting the company's ambitious targets. Mr. Kumar has a wide range of cross-functional experience in the telecommunications industry. He also has an impressive track record in developing business strategies and creating fast growth organizations. He was previously Senior Vice-President of Asia Netcom and responsible for all aspects of generating top-line growth, including strategy formulation, product marketing and sales. He was actively involved in all aspects of the financial restructuring, and eventual asset sale of Asia Global Crossing to China Netcom, resulting in the formation of Asia Netcom. In 1999, Mr. Kumar joined WorldCom Japan as Chief Executive Officer and prior to that, he held various senior positions in Global One in the United States and Asia where he has had major responsibilities in market management, sales, marketing, product management, multinational account management and operations. Mr. Kumar born in 1965 graduated with honors in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science in India.

John Hayduk is Chief Technology Officer for Tata Communications, part of the Tata Group. Prior to joining Tata, John held technology development and leadership positions with Bell Communications Research and Telcordia Technologies. John holds a B.S. in Computer Science from The Pennsylvania State University and an MS in Information Networking from Carnegie Mellon University.

"Born in 1951, Mr.Kamlesh Prasad Tiwari did most of his education at Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh - his Native Place. Mr.Tiwari has completed M.Sc in Electronics from Kanpur University in the year 1971. He has also acquired a Diploma in Telecommunication Management studies from Bath, England. Mr.Tiwari started his professional carrier with brief stint in ITI in the year 1971. He joined the DOT during the year 1972. He continued for 4 years in DoT and upon successfully completing Engineering Service Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission during the year 1975, was selected as a Class-I officer and joined at Arvi Branch of the then Overseas Communications Service (OCS) in the year 1976. Currently, Mr. Tiwari is the Chief International Facilities Officer of TATA Communications. Widely traveled, Mr.Tiwari has visited several countries to represent TATA Communications (erstwhile VSNL). He also led VSNL (now TATA Communications) delegations to many countries to further the interest of organization in the field of International communications. "

"Mr. Rajiv Dhar, Chief Financial Officer is a Chartered Accountant and also holds a Bachelors Degree with Honors from Delhi University. His experience of more than 20 years includes more than 12 years is with various Tata Companies. He has successfully lead and managed teams within corporate finance, corporate strategy, M&A, accounting operations, cost management and taxation. He has worked in telecommunication, oil & gas, construction/real estate, and manufacturing industries. He joined the Company from Tata Industries Ltd in June 2005."

"Mr. Satish Ranade is the first Company Secretary of VSNL (now TATA Communications) [erstwhile Overseas Communications Service]. Mr. Ranade is presently working as Company Secretary & Chief Legal Officer of TATA Communications, now a member of world renowned TATA Group of Companies. Mr. Ranade started his professional carrier with M/s Maharashtra Electrosmelt Limited, as Dy. Company Secretary where he had served with distinction for over 7 years. He has also been a visiting faculty teaching corporate law at the Parle Tilak Vidyalaya's Institute of Management at Mulund College of Commerce. Mr. Satish Ranade holds Bachelors degrees in Commerce and Law from the Mumbai University and is also a Fellow Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). His overall experience spans over 30 years in various fields. Mr. Ranade has been through the most momentous stages of TATA Communications’s history, Heading TATA Communications's legal and corporate secretarial functions from its inception. From a fledgling of a highly regulated wholly owned Government of India undertaking, now to a multi-function private sector telecom major in competitive market, listed on New York Stock Exchange and having multiple number of subsidiaries across the continents - he has seen it all. His contributions in the various stages of the Company's evolution process have been widely recognised. In this process he had also had the opportunity to get hands on experience in various including HRD and Finance. Mr. Ranade also officiated as Director (Finance) / Chief Financial Officer for some time. Mr. Ranade has traveled abroad extensively, representing TATA Communications and India in various International telecommunications fora wherein he has forcefully buttressed the interests of TATA Communications and India at various international meets. Mr. Ranade is presently serving as a Director on the Boards of TATA Communications’s subsidiaries in the US, UK, Sri Lanka, Singapore, South Africa, Hong Kong, Bermuda, Portugal, Japan, France, Spain, Germany among others. Besides, Mr. Ranade chairs the Board of three trusts formed by TATA Communications for its employees. "

"Mr. Srinivasa Addepalli, Sr. VP-Corporate Strategy is a Post-graduate in management from IIM, Ahmedabad and an Electronics Engineer. He worked with the Tata Strategic Management Group, focusing on the telecom and media industries. He was closely involved with the formulation of the Tata companies telecom strategy and business plans, including the acquisition of Tata Communications Ltd. (Formerly VSNL) and expansion of Tata Teleservices. Later, he joined Tata Industries in the Group Chairman’s Office, responsible for co-ordinating the various telecom activities within the Group. Prior to getting transferred to Tata Communications Ltd., Mr. Srinivasa Addepalli was on deputation to Tata Communications Ltd. from Tata Industries."

"Mr. Kishor A. Chaukar, born in 1947, currently the managing director of Tata Industries Limited (TIL), is a post-graduate in management from the Indian Institute of Management at Ahmedabad. TIL is one of the two principal holding companies of the Tata Group, acts as the Group's diversification and new projects promotion arm, and spearheads the Group's entry into the emerging, high-tech and sunrise sectors of the economy. In his capacity as Managing Director of TIL, Mr. Chaukar is responsible for enhancing the value and interest of TIL in TIL divisions and in companies where TIL has made investments. One of the tasks performed in the quest for this value enhancement is to provide strategic direction to these companies. Mr. Chaukar is a member of the group Corporate Centre, which is engaged in strategy formulation at the House of Tata. He also oversees the functions of the Department of Economics and Statistics (DES). Mr. Chaukar is the chairman of Tata Council for Community Initiatives (TCCI) – the nodal agency of the Group on all matters related to social development, environmental management, bio-diversity restoration and conservation of wild life. Mr. Chaukar was previously the managing director of ICICI Securities & Finance Company Ltd. (July 1993 to October 1998), and a board member of ICICI Ltd. from February 9, 1995 to October 15, 1998. His other experiences include stints in Bhartiya Agro Industries Foundation, a public trust engaged in rural development on a no-profit no-loss basis and based in Pune, Maharashtra, and Godrej Soaps Limited. "Shri Shailendra Kumar Gupta was born on September 9, 1942. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Lucknow University and a degree in electrical engineering from Roorkee University in 1964, where he was a Gold Medallist. He was immediately absorbed as a Lecturer in Electrical Engineering at Roorkee University. Mr. Gupta joined the Indian Telecom Service in September 1965 and held various responsible positions in the Department of Telecommunications and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited in the fields of planning, installation, maintenance, training and management of telecommunication systems.Some of the important postings were: Chief General Manager,Gujarat Telecom Circle. He was deputed through the United Nations to Malawi, Africa as a switching telecom expert during 1982-83. Mr. Gupta first took charge of Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) as its chairman and managing director in September 1999 He has been closely associated with various international telecom bodies including INTELSAT, the Commonwealth Telecommunication Organisation (CTO), Asia Pacific Telecommunications (APT), the International Maritime Satellites (INMARSAT), and the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) Telecom Projects. In pursuance to the government policy and consequent to disinvestment of VSNL in February 2002,Vsnl was acquired by the Tata Group. "

Mrs Lakshmi G Menon, Independent Director, 63 years and joined our Board on April 11, 2006. She graduated in electronics engineering in 1964 from the Madras Institute of Technology. She has been the Chairman and Managing Director of ITI Limited (ITI), telecom equipment manufacturer, since 2000. Prior to joining ITI, she was the Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Teleprinters Limited (HTL), a technology company. She has previously worked with Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) for about 20 years, where she was promoted to the position of Chief General Manager. She has received the Individual Excellence Award for Management, and Vasvik Research Award for outstanding contributions in the field of telecommunications in VSNL and HTL and the Management Excellence award for ITI conferred by the Bangalore Management Association.

"Mr. Mysore Madhusudhan, Chief Networks Officer is a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from University of Visweswarayya College of Engg., Bangalore, India. He has also undergone 6 weeks course in CSM-California (Lucent Deputation). He has worked with various companies like NDDB, BPL Mobile and Lucent Technologies before joining the Company in June 2004."

"Mr. Sandeep Mathur, has three decades of distinguished professional experience. He began his career in 1973 with Philips India Limited at Mumbai. In 1978, he joined the prestigious TATA Administrative Service where he was deputed to Nelco as their Area Manager for North India. In 1982, he moved to Modi Xerox Limited, where he spent a total of 17 years in two different stints. He worked in various functions including Sales, Marketing, Customer Service and Logistics, and, finally the Global Solutions Group which he headed as Executive Director. In between, he spent two years with the DCM Group. Most recently he was with TVS Electronics Limited in Chennai as Vice-President - Business Development. Before joining VSNL (now TATA Communications) as President of TATA Indicom Enterprise Business Unit (Tiebu), Mr. Mathur was the Chief Operating Officer of Andhra Pradesh Circle of TATA Teleservice Limited (TTSL). With effect from August 2006, Mr. Mathur has been assigned a new responsibility as Head -Corporate Services to strengthen overall management and governance system of TATA Communications. Mr. Sandeep Mathur in his distinguished career has had several milestone achievements --- launch of Philips' Music system business, launch of India's first indigenous copier, introduction of the Self Managed Work Group program in Xerox, to name a few. Mr. Mathur is an Electronics Engineer from I.I.T. Kanpur and an MBA from I.I.M. Ahmedabad, where he received the Gold Medal for Overall Outstanding performance in his batch. Mr. Mathur is avid sports and quizzing fan, and a crossword puzzle enthusiast. He is married and has two college-going daughters. "

Born in Agra in 1942, Mr. Subodh Bhargava holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Roorkee. He started his career with Balmer Lawrie & Co., Calcutta before joining the Eicher Group of Companies in Delhi in 1975. On March 31, 2000, he retired as the group chairman and chief executive and is currently an advisor to the group. He is the past president of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Association of Indian Automobile Manufacturers; and the vice president of the Tractor Manufacturers Association. Over several years, he was therefore a key spokesperson for Indian industry, contributing to and influencing government policy while simultaneously working with industry to evolve new responses to the changing environment. He is a member of the Insurance Tariff Advisory Committee, the Economic Development Board of the government of Rajasthan and the board of governors of the Centre for Policy Research. He is the chairman of the National Accreditation Board for Certifying Bodies (NABCB) under the aegis of the Quality Council of India (QCI). Mr. Bhargava has been closely associated with technical and management education in India. He was the chairman of the board of apprenticeship training and member of the board of governors of the University of Roorkee. He is currently on the board of IIM, Indore; the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi; and the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmedabad. He is on the boards of governors of other institutions for graduate engineering and bachelors and masters degree programmes in business management. Presently, he is also a member of the senior panel of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) set up for a comprehensive evaluation of research in engineering and technology; and on the committee set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Department, Government of India for policy perspectives for management education in India.
