Paul E. Freiman is Chairman of the Board of Penwest. He is also President and Chief Executive Officer of Neurobiological Technologies, Inc. (NTI). He is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Syntex Corporation (Syntex), where he had a long and successful career and was instrumental in the sale of Syntex to Roche Holdings for $5.3 billion. He is credited with much of the marketing success of Syntex's lead product, Naprosyn, and was responsible for moving the product to over-the-counter status, marketed by Proctor & Gamble as Aleve. Mr. Becker joined the Board in November 2004. Mr. Becker is currently the President and a partner at Greenfield Chemical, a pharmaceutical consulting and sourcing company, which he founded in January 1998. From 1999 to 2002, Mr. Becker served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Sicor Pharmaceuticals, a maker of injectable pharmaceuticals. John N. Kapoor is a co-founder of Insys and has served as the Chairman of our board of directors since our inception. Dr. Kapoor has served as the President and Chairman of the board of directors of EJ Financial Enterprises, since forming the company in 1990. Dr. Kapoor is also the Managing Partner of Kapoor-Pharma Investments, an investment company that he founded in 2000. Dr. Kapoor serves as the chairman of the board of directors of Akorn, a publicly traded specialty pharmaceutical company, where he served as the Chief Executive Officer from March 2001 to December 2002 and from May 1996 to November 1998. Dr. Ali joined NeoPharm in January 2001, as Associate Director of Research and Development, and assumed the position of Executive Vice President, Research and Development in September 2007. Since joining the Company, Dr. Ali has held positions of increasing responsibility in Research and Development. Dr. Aquilur Rahman is one of the founders of NeoPharm Inc., and currently serves as the Company's Chief Scientific Advisor. After helping to take NeoPharm public in 1996, he served as the Chief Scientific Officer and a member of the Board of Directors from 1990 until 2001. Since that time he has served as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Radiation Medicine at Georgetown University. In 2007, Dr. Rahman returned to NeoPharm and has since played a key role as an advisor for its research and development activities. Dr. Rahman has more than 20 years of research experience in developing new modalities of treatment for cancer patients. He holds 15 patents, has been an author of over a hundred peer reviewed publications and has been a speaker at numerous seminars and lectures. He received his Masters of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Dacca (Bangladesh) in 1964 and his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, U.K.) in 1972.
