D. Edward (Ted) Smyth is executive vice president, Corporate Affairs and executive assistant to Harold (Terry) McGraw III, the chairman, president and chief executive officer of The McGraw-Hill Companies. He manages the marketing, communications, government affairs and community relations activities of the Corporation, and advises the chairman on matters involving the Board of Directors and the management and operation of the Corporation.
Before joining The McGraw-Hill Companies in 2009, Ted was chief administrative officer and senior vice president at the H.J. Heinz Company, where he was responsible for human resources, and corporate and government affairs. During his tenure at Heinz, the company expanded rapidly in overseas markets such as India, China, Russia, Spain and Indonesia. Ted was chairman of Heinz’s Global Communications Council, and a member of the Office of the Chairman.
Ted joined Heinz in March 1988 following a 15-year career as an Irish diplomat. He is a native of Ireland and served in embassies in Switzerland, Portugal, the United States and Great Britain. He has published several articles on public policy and speaks regularly at conferences in the United States and Europe.
Ted is an honors graduate in History and Political Science from Trinity College, Dublin. He is a Director of the Africa America Institute, the Ireland Funds and Glucksman Ireland House at New York University, and a member of the Global Studies Program of the Center for International Studies at the University of Pittsburgh.

Harold McGraw III, age 60, has been Chairman of the Board since 2000 and President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company since 1998. Prior to that, Mr. McGraw had been President and Chief Operating Officer of the Company since 1993. He was Executive Vice President, Operations, of the Company from 1989 to 1993. Prior to that, he was President of the McGraw-Hill Financial Services Company, President of the McGraw-Hill Publications Company, Publisher of Aviation Week & Space Technology magazine and Vice President, Corporate Planning. Before joining the Company in 1980, he held financial positions at the GTE Corporation. Mr. McGraw serves on the Boards of Directors of ConocoPhillips and United Technologies Corporation. He is Chairman of The Business Roundtable and Chairman of the Emergency Committee for American Trade (ECAT). He is a member of The U.S. Trade Representative’s Advisory Committee for Trade, Policy and Negotiations (ACTPN) and The Business Council. He is Chairman of the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy and serves on the Board of the Council for Economic Education and is on the Board of Trustees of Carnegie Hall as well as the Board of The New York Public Library. He also is a member of the Boards of the National Organization on Disability, The National Academy Foundation, the Asia Society and Hartley House. Mr. McGraw has served as a Director of the Company since 1987 and is Chair of the Executive Committee.

Deven Sharma was named president of Standard & Poor's in August 2007. Standard & Poor's, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies, is the world's foremost provider of financial market intelligence, including independent credit ratings, indices, risk evaluation, investment research and data. With approximately 8,500 employees, including wholly owned affiliates, located in 21 countries, Standard & Poor's is an essential part of the world's financial infrastructure and has played a leading role for more than 140 years in providing investors with the independent benchmarks they need to feel more confident about their investment and financial decisions.
Prior to being named president, Deven served as executive vice president, Standard & Poor’s, where he was responsible for Investment Services and Global Sales. The businesses include Investment Data & Information, Research and Portfolio services. Prior to this, he spent five years as executive vice president, Global Strategy for The McGraw-Hill Companies, where he led the expansion into digital markets, geographies and new growth areas, as well as acquisitions. He also oversaw McGraw-Hill Ventures.
Deven joined The McGraw-Hill Companies in January 2002 from Booz Allen Hamilton, a global management consulting company, where he was a partner. During his 14 years with that firm, he provided guidance to client companies on business strategy and globalization, as well as on branding and sales management. Much of his experience includes work with global corporations in U.S., Latin America, Europe and parts of Asia. Prior to Booz Allen, Deven worked with manufacturing companies, Dresser Industries and Anderson Strathclyde.
Deven holds a bachelor's degree from the Birla Institute of Technology in India, a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin and a doctoral degree in Business Management from Ohio State University.
Deven has authored several publications on competitive strategy, customer solutions, sales and marketing. He is a Board member of CRISIL, The US-China Business Council and Asia Society Business Council.
Glenn S. Goldberg is president of The McGraw-Hill Companies' Information & Media segment, a role he assumed December, 2005.
The segment includes some of the most respected brands in business, including BusinessWeek, J.D. Power & Associates and ABC-affiliated television stations in Denver, San Diego, Indianapolis and Bakersfield. It also includes business information leaders in the energy, construction and aviation and defense industries.
Previously, Glenn was senior vice president, Corporate Affairs and assistant to the chairman and chief executive officer of The McGraw-Hill Companies. Until 1998, he was managing director of Global Ratings Development for Standard & Poor's, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies. He was responsible for Standard & Poor's global marketing and communications activities and served on its Executive Committee, the firm's principal policy making body.
Before joining Standard & Poor's in 1990, Glenn was Assistant Comptroller for New York City. He also worked for members of the U.S. House of Representatives and co-authored a book on U.S. government and business activity in South Africa.
Glenn holds a B.S. degree from Brockport State University, awarded summa cum laude, in political science. He serves on the Board of Directors of the New York State Business Council, Hartley House and The Constitution Works. He is also a Trustee of the Brockport College Foundation.
As President of McGraw-Hill Education, Peter C. Davis is responsible for leading one of the world's top educational publishers, serving teachers and students across virtually every aspect of the growing global education market from pre-K through professional learning.
Peter has spearheaded a range of important growth initiatives for McGraw-Hill Education, including developing strategies to help the company's Pre-K through 12 education group compete effectively in the elementary and high school market, helping improve marketing and sales for its testing and assessment services business, and devising strategies to enter the career educational services markets internationally. He also is leading McGraw-Hill Education's efforts to expand its use of technology to deliver content digitally across multiple customer sets and distribution channels.
Peter joined The McGraw-Hill Companies in 2006 as Executive Vice President of Global Strategy, where he worked closely with the Corporation's senior management team to build global business opportunities, strengthen its presence in existing markets, and develop partnerships and new business opportunities for the company's Education, Financial Services and Information & Media businesses.
Earlier in his career, Peter was a managing director at Novantas LLC and was senior partner at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he led global client relationship development and delivery for the banking, brokerage and asset management segments.
Peter holds a bachelor's degree from Rutgers College in New Brunswick, NJ, where he was a Henry Rutgers Scholar, and earned his master's degree in business administration from the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University.

David L. Murphy is executive vice president, Human Resources and is responsible for the Corporation's global human resources initiatives with particular emphasis on leadership and talent development. He is a member of The McGraw-Hill Companies Chief Executive Officers Council.
Before joining the Corporation in July 2002, David spent most of his professional career with the Ford Motor Company. He served as vice president, Human Resources, heading Ford's worldwide Human Resources organization. He reported to the president and CEO and held direct responsibility for Ford's management development, training, compensation, health and safety, and labor relations.
David has held significant global responsibilities with key assignments in Europe, North America and Australia. He has extensive experience in all aspects of human resources and talent management. He had responsibility for Ford's Detroit executive development center, and was a key member of the team that designed and delivered executive development programs for the top 2,000 Ford managers worldwide.
David was born in Northern Ireland, and graduated from Queens University (Belfast) with a B.A. (Hons) degree.
Kenneth M. Vittor was appointed executive vice president and general counsel of The McGraw-Hill Companies in 1999. Previously, Ken was senior vice president and associate general counsel of The McGraw-Hill Companies until he was appointed senior vice president and general counsel in July 1995. As general counsel, Ken was responsible for handling the widely publicized BusinessWeek-Bankers Trust prior restraint litigation as well as the highly successful defense of Standard & Poor's in the Orange County litigation.
Before joining The McGraw-Hill Companies in 1981, Ken was with the New York City law firm of Cahill Gordon & Reindel, where he specialized in litigation and First Amendment law. He graduated with honors from Cornell University in 1971 and from the University of Chicago Law School in 1974.
Ken is a past chairman and current member of the Lawyers' Committee of the Magazine Publishers of America (MPA). Ken is also a member of the Association of American Publishers (AAP) Lawyers' Committee and a past member of the AAP's Freedom to Read Committee. Ken is currently a member, and a prior Chairman, of The Libel Defense Resource Center. Ken is on the Board of Directors of Hartley House and the Board of Advisors of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. He has written articles on a variety of legal issues in the publishing and First Amendment areas.

John was born and raised in Central Illinois, before his family moved to NW Iowa where he attended High School. After High School, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and was sent to Vietnam, where he served as an infantry Sergeant in the 1st Air Cavalry Division. Upon his return to civilian life he graduated from the University of Iowa. In 1985, John began his publishing career with Random House. From there he went on to serve in a variety of sales and marketing positions, such as, Director of Special Marketing Programs on the President's staff at the McGraw-Hill Companies College Division, Vice President of National Accounts, Vice President of Retail Sales for the Thomson Corporation, and the Vice President of Sales for educational related start-ups in both Boston and New York City. In 2002 John moved to Florida and earned his Real Estate license, and began work for Wild Heron, a Greg Norman development. Then in June of 2004 he joined Coastal Properties of NW FL and entered into a partnership with Carol Lench. Since the beginning of his real estate career John has been a multi-million dollar producer and specializes in development parcels for investor groups.

Pedro Aspe founded Protego in 1996, and serves as Protego’s Chairman of the board of directors and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Aspe has been since 1995 a professor at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México located in Mexico City. Mr. Aspe has held a number of positions with the Mexican government and was most recently the Minister of Finance and Public Credit of Mexico from 1988 through 1994.
Mr. Aspe is a Principal, member of the Investment Committee and Chairman of the Advisory Board of Discovery Americas I L.P.
