Formosa bags it! Formosa Plastics Corporation (Taiwan: FPC), based in Taipei, Taiwan, manufactures and sells plastic-related products. It is one of the world's largest producers of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and offers acrylic fiber and yarn, polyethylene, caustic soda, chlorine, calcium carbonate, and acrylic acid. It also makes super absorbent polymers, chlorides, paraffin waxes, shopping bags, garbage bags and other plastic-related products. The company was founded in 1954, has revenue of about $4 billion and employs about 5,400 people. It has various joint ventures, including Formosa Asahi Spandex, with Asahi Chemical Industry, and Formosa Komatsu Silicon with Komatsu Electronic Metals, a maker of silicon wafers.
