With 13 mines in four major coal supply regions-Powder River Basin, Northern Appalachia, and Central Appalachia - Foundation Coal Holdings, Inc. and its subsidiaries (individually and collectively "Foundation Coal") offers one of the most diverse product portfolios of any U.S. coal producer. In 2006 and beyond, Foundation Coal will supply in excess of 70 million tons of high quality steam and metallurgical coal to both domestic and export markets. Strengths. Foundation Coal is ranked in the top five of the nation's largest coal producers. Although our name is new, we have been in the business of mining and selling coal through our predecessor companies for decades. The current suite of assets has been managed by the same management team since 1999. Sustainability. We produced approximately 66 million tons of coal in 2005 and at year end 2005 controlled approximately 1.7 billion tons of proven and probable coal reserves. Our existing reserve life of 26 years, based on current production rates, gives us a strong platform for future expansion. Diversity. James F. Roberts (57) Mr. Roberts appointed to our board of directors in 2004. Kurt D. Kost (51) is our President and Chief Operating Officer. Prior to his current position, Mr. Kost had been Executive Vice President since June 2007. He was Senior Vice President, Western Operations and Process Management of Foundation from December 2005 until June 2007. From 1980 through 2005, Mr. Kost held various positions in engineering and operations with Foundation Coal Corporation and its predecessor and affiliated companies. From April 2005 to December 2007, Mr. Kost was Vice President of Process Management for Foundation Coal Corporation. From 2001 to 2005 he was President, Foundation Coal West, Inc. Frank J. Wood assumed the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer on July 30, 2004. Prior to his present appointment with Foundation, Wood served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of RAG American Coal Holding, Inc. since 1999. From 1993 to 1999, he was Vice President & Controller at Cyprus Amax Coal Company, and from 1991 to 1993, he was Vice President of Administration at Cannelton Inc. From 1979 to 1991, Wood held various accounting and financial management positions at AMAX Inc.'s coal and oil and gas subsidiaries. Wood earned a Masters in Business Administration from Indiana University and a Bachelors in Accounting from the College of William and Mary. James A. Olsen (57) is our Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. A. Scott Pack, Jr. (49) is our Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Foundation Coal Corporation and President, Foundation Energy Sales, Inc. Prior to his current position, Mr. Pack had been Foundation's Vice President of Sales and Marketing since 2001. Mr. Pack has 24 years of experience in the coal mining industry in which he has held various engineering, sales, transportation, and management positions at Enron Global Markets, LLC, Consol Energy Inc., Cannelton Industries, Inc., Maple Meadow Mining Co. and the New River Co. Mr. Pack earned his Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from West Virginia University. Mr. Pack is a member and past president of the Coal Club of Philadelphia. David I. Foley has been a member of our board of directors since 2004. He serves as the Chairman of the compensation committee.
