Mary Mulligan: Ms. Mulligan joined the Legal Action Center Board in February 2008. She is currently a partner at Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman LLP and a member of the New York State Bar Association's Committee on White Collar Criminal Litigation. From 1997 to 2002, she served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York and directed investigations and prosecutions of fraud, narcotics, public corruption and organized crime. During that time, she also led the government's largest Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigation to date. Ms. Mulligan served as the Senior Director, Business and Legal Affairs, of Universal Music Group, handling corporate compliance matters, internal investigations, privacy issues and supervised litigation. She has represented individuals and corporations in cases involving allegations of insider trading, stock option backdating, internet fraud, and Medicaid fraud, and her intellectual property practice has included defending breach of contract and trade secrets claims and representing a major consumer electronics manufacturer in putative nationwide class actions.Ms. Mulligan graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University in 1983. She received her law degree cum laude in 1989 from New York University School of Law, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif, held a Libel Defense Resource Center Fellowship, and received the American Jurisprudence Award in Administrative Law and the Moot Court Advocacy Award.

John R. Cahill, whose diverse practice focuses on legal matters that arise in the art world, has joined Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman LLP as counsel in the litigation group. Most recently Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the fine art auction house Phillips, de Pury & Luxembourg, Mr. Cahill has represented other auction houses, art galleries, dealers, artists, and private collectors. With considerable experience representing those in disputes arising out of claims to the title and the authenticity of art work, he provides both representation in lawsuits and counseling to corporations, institutions, and individual private clients engaged in the sale, acquisition, lending, insuring, and financing of fine and decorative art. In addition to art-related matters, Mr. Cahill has handled a broad range of complex commercial litigation, business, and employment matters, including the negotiation and termination of employment contracts and other business arrangements. Mr. Cahill graduated with honors in 1984 from the State University of New York at Binghamton and received his law degree in 1987 from the University of Michigan Law School.

Kent K. Anker concentrates in complex commercial and criminal litigation involving a wide variety of industries, representing clients in New York state courts, federal courts across the country, and arbitration tribunals. His matters have included representing a commercial developer in insurance, contract, and tort litigations arising from the destruction of 7 World Trade Center on September 11, 2001; multiple actions in federal and state trial, bankruptcy, and appellate courts involving allegations of statutory violations, breaches of fiduciary duty, and fraud arising out of the merger of a closely-held corporation; defense of a national law firm against fraud allegations; representation of an individual involved in a criminal antitrust investigation of the airline industry; a civil antitrust action concerning standard-setting in the wireless industry; disputes arising out of the sale of an international fund management company; a suit on behalf of institutional investors against a Big Four accounting firm; price-fixing allegations in the tobacco industry; and arbitration and injunction actions on behalf of an international brewer. Mr. Anker also represented families before the September 11 Victim Compensation Fund. Mr. Anker graduated with honors in 1991 from Wesleyan University and magna cum laude in 1998 from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Journal on Legislation. He is the author of Differences and Dialogue: School Finance in New York State, 124 N.Y.U. Rev. L. & Soc. Change 345 (1998). Early in his career, Mr. Anker worked as an education lobbyist, lobbying elected officials in Albany, Washington, D.C., and New York City. He remains active in education reform efforts locally and nationally, serving on the board of Education Reform Now Advocacy and as a member of the Committee on Education and the Law of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He previously practiced at Willkie Farr & Gallagher and Boies, Schiller & Flexner.
