Dan Pike is a veteran of the cable industry whose rich and successful cable career greatly benefits the PerfTech Advisory Board. Having entered the cable industry in 1973, Dan currently serves as Chief Technology Officer of GCI Cable and Entertainment. Prior to joining GCI, Dan worked for three years as Classic Communication's Chief Technology Officer and, before that, as Senior Vice President of Prime Cable and its related entities for 18 years. Dan is a member of many industry organizations and serves on the Computer Science and Telecommunications Board of the National Research Council, part of the National Academies. He has served on the Board of Directors for CableLabs since its inception and is a director at Com21 (a cable modem manufacturer). He has received numerous industry awards including the NCTA Vanguard Award for Science and Technology in 1991, the Texas Telecommunications 2000 Johnny Mankin Award, along with his recent induction to the SCTE Hall of Fame. Dan is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers, as well as a member of the Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers. He also serves in an advisory capacity to numerous organizations and frequently speaks and publishes on broadband and telecommunications issues. He holds both Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Oklahoma State University. Dan and his wife live in Austin, TX.
