The story of Gentry Resources Ltd. is one filled with growth, focus and many great opportunities. On November 13, 1995 Gentry's shares were listed and posted for trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange, having moved from a predecessor of the TSX Venture Exchange, a junior market. Gentry trades under the stock symbol "GNY". In April of 1999, Gentry entered into an agreement with Stratic Energy Corporation, whereby Gentry vended all of its international assets into Stratic in exchange for common shares. Gentry currently retains a 8% interest in the outstanding common equity of Stratic, a TSX Venture Exchange listed company. During May of 1999, Gentry announced a friendly take-over bid for Barra Resources Inc. Gentry and Barra were amalgamated on December 31, 1999, adding 950 boe/d of production to the Company. In November of 2000, Gentry announced that it had entered into a Business Combination with Sloane Petroleums Inc. The amalgamation was subsequently completed on March 1, 2001, and brought 619 mboe of proven reserves and 2 mmcf/d of gas production to the Company. In 2001, Gentry turned its focus to the drill bit. Drilling in Princess focused on both gas and oil, whereas programs at Sedalia and Red Willow focused solely on gas. In 2002, Gentry concentrated its exploration efforts on four core areas - Princess, Tide Lake, Sedalia and Whitecourt. A director of Gentry since December 1988, Mr. Ross earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1980 from the University of Calgary and joined Gentry's predecessor company shortly after graduation.
