Alan Smith joined Genzyme in 1989. He has overall responsibility for the company’s science. Before Integrated Genetics was acquired by Genzyme in 1989, Dr. Smith was that company’s vice president and scientific director. Prior to joining Integrated Genetics, he was head of the Biochemistry Division of the National Institute for Medical Research, Mill Hill, in London. Dr. Smith has also served as a member of the scientific staff at London’s Imperial Cancer Research Fund. Dr. Smith has a Ph.D. from the Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, England and a B.A. from Christ’s College, Cambridge, England.

Jason Amello joined Genzyme in 2000. He oversees and directs all aspects of the company’s accounting operations, including the selection and implementation of significant accounting policies; valuation of assets; internal controls, processes and reporting; and external financial reporting to the Securities and Exchange Commission. He is also responsible for providing financial advisory and support services for strategic transactions and assists the company’s business units in mergers and acquisitions, product acquisition and corporate partnering transactions. Mr. Amello was vice president of strategic financial services from 2004 to 2008. From 2000 to 2004, he served as the assistant corporate controller. Prior to joining Genzyme, he worked as a certified public accountant in the business advisory and assurance practice of Deloitte & Touche LLP. Mr. Amello has a B.S. from Boston College.

Michael Wyzga joined Genzyme in 1998, and is responsible for global financial reporting. Prior to joining Genzyme, Mr. Wyzga was chief financial officer of Sovereign Hill Software Inc. He also served as vice president of finance and chief financial officer of CacheLink Corporation, a client/service software company. Mr. Wyzga has also held management positions at both Lotus Development Corporation and Digital Equipment Corporation. Mr. Wyzga has an M.B.A. from Providence College and a B.S. from Suffolk University.

Richard Moscicki joined Genzyme in 1992. He has worldwide responsibility for all aspects of clinical research, medical decisions, pharmacovigilence and regulatory.Before joining Genzyme, Dr. Moscicki was chief of immunology and allergy at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, where he continues to work as a consultant. He also served as a staff member of Massachusetts General Hospital and has been a faculty member at Harvard Medical School since 1979. Dr. Moscicki earned his B.S. and M.D. from Northwestern University.

Roger Louis joined Genzyme in 1997. He is responsible for the company’s corporate compliance program and is the managing counsel for compliance and health. Prior to joining Genzyme, Mr. Louis was corporate, strategic and finance chief counsel for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts. He has also worked as an associate in the corporate and securities department at Hale and Dorr. Mr. Louis has a J.D. from the University of Chicago School of Law and a B.A. from Tufts University.

Thomas DesRosier joined Genzyme in 1999. He is responsible for the management of the company’s legal affairs worldwide, including supervision of more than 50 internal legal professionals. Before he joined Genzyme, Mr. DesRosier was assistant general counsel for patents at American Home Products Corp., where he directed intellectual property efforts for the company’s pharmaceutical products. Mr. DesRosier has also served as vice president and chief patent counsel for Genetics Institute Inc. and held several intellectual property positions at E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Company and New England Nuclear Corp. He earned a J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law and a B.A. from the University of Vermont.

Zoltan Csimma joined Genzyme in 2000. He manages Genzyme’s corporate human resources organization, and is also responsible for developing global human resources strategies and programs. Prior to joining Genzyme, Mr. Csimma was vice president of human resources at Wyeth Ayerst Research, and vice president of human resources and operations at Genetics Institute Inc. Mr. Csimma has also worked in human resources roles for Convergent Inc., Spectra Physics Inc., and General Electric Co. He received his B.A. from the California State University at San Jose.

David P. Meeker, M.D. is President of the LSD (Lysosomal Storage Diseases) Therapeutics business unit of Genzyme Corporation. During his leadership of the LSD business unit, Dr. Meeker has held development responsibility for its therapeutics portfolio, and global responsibility for three marketed enzyme replacement products which have generated over one billion dollars in revenue. In addition to serving as President of the LSD unit, Dr. Meeker has served in various roles at Genzyme Corporation since joining in 1994, including Senior Vice President, Therapeutics Europe and Senior Vice President, Medical Affairs. Dr. Meeker has had extensive experience in the development and market launch of orphan drugs while at Genzyme. Prior to joining Genzyme, he served at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, initially joining in 1988 as Staff Physician for the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and later serving as the Program Director for the Department's fellowship program. Dr. Meeker is a Fellow at the American College of Physicians (FACP) and the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP), and has published over 50 articles in academic journals and research publications. He attended Dartmouth College and holds a M.D. from The University of Vermont. His post- doctoral training included a Fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine at Boston University, a Clinical Fellowship in Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Residency in Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Hospital Boston.

Duke Collier joined Genzyme 1997 after having served as an outside lawyer for the company since 1990. He is responsible for managing Genzyme’s oncology and genetics businesses, as well as its multiple sclerosis program. Before he joined Genzyme, Mr. Collier was president of Vitas Healthcare Corporation and a partner at the Washington, D.C. law firm Hogan and Hartson. He also served as deputy administrator for the Health Care Financing Administration in Baltimore, MD, during the Carter administration. Mr. Collier earned a J.D. at the University of Virginia Law School and a B.A. at Yale University.

Peter Wirth joined Genzyme in 1996 after having served as the company’s outside general counsel since 1982. He has senior management responsibility for the corporate development and legal departments. Prior to joining Genzyme, he was a partner at Palmer and Dodge, a Boston law firm, where he was head of the firm’s technology group. Mr. Wirth has a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin.

Mark Bamforth joined Genzyme in 1988. He is responsible for Genzyme’s global manufacturing operations and strategic capacity planning as well as the Pharmaceuticals business. Prior to 2000, Mr. Bamforth ran Genzyme’s United Kingdom operations. Before joining Genzyme, Mr. Bamforth worked as a drilling engineer in the North Sea offshore oil industry and then as a chemical engineer in the whisky industry in Scotland. Mr. Bamforth has an M.B.A. from Henley Business School and a B.Sc. Honours in chemical engineering from Strathclyde University.

Donald Pogorzelski joined Genzyme in 1988. He is responsible for managing all aspects of the worldwide diagnostics business unit, including Genzyme Virotech in Russelsheim, Germany, the rapid test products in San Diego, California, and facilities in Kent, United Kingdom, and Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mr. Pogorzelski’s initial responsibility at Genzyme was sales and marketing for raw materials for the domestic clinical chemistry market. Prior to joining Genzyme, he held positions in human resources, finance, and sales and marketing at Abbott Laboratories. Mr. Pogorzelski has an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and a B.S. from Loyola University of Chicago.

Gail Sullivan joined Genzyme in 2007. She is responsible for Genzyme's global treasury operations, including corporate financing, cash management, risk management, and investment management. Prior to joining Genzyme, Ms. Sullivan was vice president and treasurer of The Gillette Company. She has also held various managerial and financial positions at Gillette and at Digital Equipment Corporation. Ms. Sullivan has an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and a B.A. from Dartmouth College.

Dr. Yee serves as Vice President, Global Medical Affairs at Genzyme Corporation in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is responsible for overseeing the Gaucher Registry, Fabry Registry, Pompe Registry and MPS-1 Registry, and other post-marketing medical activities in support of Genzyme’s portfolio of enzyme replacement therapies for lysosomal storage disorders. Previously, Dr. Yee served as a faculty member at Harvard Medical School and Children’s Hospital in Boston. He completed his undergraduate degree in the history of science at Harvard College, his medical degree at Harvard Medical School, and a master’s degree in public health from the Harvard School of Public Health. He completed his pediatric residency and fellowship training at Children’s Hospital in Boston

Patricia A. Fraser, MD, MPH completed her medical education at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, and fellowships at Robert Bent Brigham Hospital. Dr. Fraser is Medical Director, Pharmacovigilance/ Medical Affairs at Genzyme and practices rheumatology at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Dr Fraser is an outstanding and caring physician who cares for many people with lupus. She has a passion for learning why lupus disproportionately affects African American women. She was the recipient of a grant to look into the possible environmental factors that may trigger lupus in Roxbury, Dorchester and Mattapan and continues to seek answers to how best care for people with this disease. Dr. Fraser is Chair of the Board and serves on the Medical Advisory and Nominating committees.

Ann Merrifield joined Genzyme in 1992. She is responsible for managing all aspects of the orthopaedics and biosurgical specialties business units of Genzyme Biosurgery, including Synvisc and all other biomaterials products. Ms. Merrifield has also served as president of Genzyme Genetics. Prior to joining Genzyme, she was a partner at Bain and Company and an investment analyst for Aetna Life and Casualty. Ms. Merrifield has an M.B.A. from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College and a B.A. and M.Ed. from the University of Maine.

Jim Shuman is Senior Vice President of Materials Management at Genzyme Corporation, one of the world's leading biotechnology companies. Genzyme's products and services help patients in more than 80 countries. The company is focused on rare inherited disorders, kidney disease, orthopedics, cancer, transplant and immune diseases, and diagnostic testing. Jim joined Genzyme in 1996, and has played a key role in developing the company's materials management organization. He was involved in establishing a global standard for the company's enterprise resource planning system, which is used to run all of Genzyme's manufacturing plants. In his current role, Jim has global responsibility for the management of the purchasing, distribution, logistics, and planning functions for all of Genzyme's business units. He oversees these functions in 10 manufacturing plants in the U.S. and Europe, and directs a staff of more than 125 people. Prior to joining Genzyme, Jim spent 19 years with Digital Equipment Corporation in a number of increasingly responsible materials, purchasing and operations roles. His responsibilities at DEC included the functional oversight of plants in the U.S. and Asia. Jim has a B.A. in economics from Buffalo State College.

John McPherson joined Genzyme in 1989. He directs scientific research programs focused on development and commercialization of cell and protein-based therapeutic products. Before he came to Genzyme, Dr. McPherson was director of protein chemistry at Integrated Genetics. He also worked for Collagen Corporation, and was research project leader for their soft tissue wound healing program. Dr. McPherson had a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He has a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of California, Davis. He also has a M.A. from the University of California, Davis and a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.

John Butler joined Genzyme in 1997 as product manager for Renagel. His current responsibilities include leading the company's renal, endocrine, and cardiovascular businesses. This includes managing the commercial products Renagel, Renvela, Thyrogen, Hectorol, and Cholestagel as well as the development of Genzyme’s cardiometabolic and renal portfolio. Mr. Butler has also served as vice president of strategic planning, vice president of Renagel Europe, and senior vice president and general manager of the renal business unit. Prior to joining Genzyme, he worked in sales and marketing at Amgen Inc. Mr. Butler has an M.B.A. from Baruch College and a B.A. from Manhattan College.

Richard Polisson joined Genzyme in 1997. He manages the corporate clinical trials for programs in osteoarthritis, cartilage repair, tissue engineering, surgical wound repair, transplantation, immune mediated diseases, diagnostics, and neurologic disease. Polisson has formal training in the quantitative methods of clinical investigation, and has 28 years of experience in patient-orientated and translational research in academia, industry and at the National Institutes of Health. Before joining Genzyme, he was Clinical Director of the Arthritis Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital and Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School

Charles L. Cooney, Ph.D. is professor of chemical and biochemical engineering in the department of chemical engineering, faculty director of the Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation and co-director of the Program on the Pharmaceutical Industry at MIT. Dr. Cooney's research interests span a broad range of topics in biochemical engineering and pharmaceutical manufacturing. He is a director of Genzyme Corp., BioProcessors and Biocon Ltd.

Gail Boudreaux joined UnitedHealth Group in May 2008 as an executive vice president and as president of UnitedHealthcare. Boudreaux was formerly executive vice president of Health Care Services Corporation (HCSC) and prior to that served as president of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, a division of HCSC. Before joining HCSC she held various positions at Aetna, including senior vice president of Aetna Group Insurance and vice president of Customer Service.

Ginger M. More is currently a Special Limited Partner of Oak Investment Partners ( Oak ) and had been a General Partner or Managing Member since 1980. Oak has raised ten venture capital partnerships with a total of $4.2 billion in committed capital. Oak has sponsored over 350 companies with aggregate annual revenues in excess of $100 billion. Oak s most recent fund, Oak X, was closed on February 28, 2001 with a total capitalization of $1.6 billion. Ginger joined Oak at its inception in 1978 after ten years at Wright Investor's Service. She has sponsored investments in and/or served on the boards of numerous healthcare and information technology companies including the following publicly-traded companies, Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Alkermes, Inc., Compaq Computer Corporation, Dyax Corporation, Esperion Therapeutics, Inc., Genzyme Corporation, Octel Communications Corporation, OraPharma, Inc., Osteotech Inc., Pharmacopeia, Inc. and Ribozyme Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Ginger studied Mathematics at the University of Bridgeport and became a Chartered Financial Analyst in 1978.
