Gilford Securities was founded in 1979 by senior officers of the former Blyth Eastman Dillon seeking to create an environment where intelligent investment professionals could offer investment opportunities to discriminating investors. We've made substantial progress in accomplishing that goal over the past twenty seven years. While we've undergone many changes since we started the business, day to day operations are still headed by seasoned professionals, including some of the founders. Gilford Securities is one of Wall Street's few remaining private investment banking firms, with ownership shared by its founders and many of the firm's more than 150 employees. While New York City is still the hub of financial activity Glford's investors, institutions and the companies Gilford serves have greatly dispersed since the firm was founded. Today, as a full-service, national investment firm, Gilford maintains offices around the country in addition to our headquarters in New York City. Chip first joined LMG, as an investor, in December 2001. He became actively involved in the Company's operations in 2002. Prior to LMG, Chip was a founding partner and owner of the San Francisco capital markets group of Broadmark Capital from 1997-2001. At Broadmark, Chip was instrumental in the expansion of the firm's banking, distribution, and asset management businesses. Chip was an integral part of its origination and distribution team that successfully raised over $300mm in private equity placements, primarily for venture stage companies, including Universal Access, where Broadmark raised capital at a $17mm pre-money valuation in 1998 and Goldman, Sachs as lead underwriter raised $170mm in its IPO at over $1 billion pre-money valuation in 2000. Prior to Broadmark, Chip was a Sr. Vice President and owner at Gilford Securities for 6 years, handling High Net Worth retail and institutional equity and fixed income accounts. He held similar positions with Gruntal & Co. and Oppenheimer. Throughout his career, Mr. Unsworth has been an active advisor to early stage companies in both the public and private markets, and has helped create shareholder value in public companies by spearheading re-capitalizations, proxy contests, and corporate strategy changes alongside owners and managers. Chip graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island.
