Andrew Witty was named CEO designate for GSK in October 2007 and assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer on 21 May 2008. He is a member of the Board and Corporate Executive Team and previously held the role of President, Pharmaceuticals Europe, for five years.
Andrew joined Glaxo in 1985 and held a variety of roles in the UK business. He was a Sales Representative for the Respiratory business, held a variety of Marketing roles and was Director of Pharmacy and Distribution.
He has worked in the Company’s International New Products groups, both in the Respiratory and HIV/Infectious disease fields and has been involved in multiple new product development programmes.
In 1993, Andrew was appointed Managing Director of Glaxo South Africa and later Area Director for GlaxoWellcome, South and East Africa. Subsequently he moved to North Carolina as Vice President and General Manager, Marketing for GlaxoWellcome Inc., the group’s US subsidiary.
Andrew then moved to Singapore and led the Group’s operations in Asia as Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific prior to his appointment to the Corporate Executive Team as President of GSK Europe in 2003.
While in Singapore Andrew was a Board Member of the Singapore Economic Development Board, the Singapore Land Authority and in 2003 was awarded the Public Service Medal by the Government of Singapore.
Andrew has served in numerous advisory roles to Governments around the world including South Africa, Singapore, Guangzhou China and the UK.
Andrew is currently a Non-Executive Director of the UK’s Office for Strategic Co-ordination of Health Research, sits on the Imperial College Commercialisation Advisory Board, is a member of the Health Innovation Council and is a member of INSEAD UK Council.
He is also a member of the Business Council for Britain, a Board Member of PhRMA, a Vice-President of EFPIA and a Member of the Singapore Economic Development Board's International Advisory Council.
Andrew has a Joint Honours BA in Economics from the University of Nottingham.

Prior to this, Abbas was Vice President of Europe with specific responsibility for the Western European Mid-Size countries, Africa & Middle East Area/Commonwealth of Independent States and Central & Eastern Europe regions.
Abbas joined Lilly UK in 1988 as Sales Representative GP & Hospital Sales East London. He then moved to Australia in 1990, where he became Associate of Market Research & New Product Planning and subsequently District Sales Manager. In 1994, he moved to Indianapolis as Associate of Global Product Planning (Cardiovascular Business Unit), becoming Associate of Business Development Asia Pacific the following year. He took on the role of Pharmaceutical Sales & Marketing Director in India in 1996, and Managing Director of Turkey in 1998. Abbas moved to Germany in 2001 as General Manager, Lilly Deutschland as well as General Manager and Speaker, Lilly Pharma Holding GmbH. He was appointed European Mid-Size Area Director in 2003.

David Pulman took up the position of President, Global Manufacturing and Supply (GMS), GlaxoSmithKline in December 2002. He is a member of the Corporate executive team. Previously, he held the position of Senior Vice President - Strategy, Logistics and North American Supply, GMS, GSK, since January 2001.
David has a broad range of manufacturing experience, having had responsibility for global primary manufacturing and for secondary manufacturing operations on five continents.
Prior to this appointment, David had responsibility for North American Supply, GMS Global logistics and strategy, and for the team leading and monitoring the Global supply network programme. From December 2000, David was Senior Vice President, Europe supply, GMS responsible for the supply of drug product from the 17 sites in the region. He was previously Regional Supply Director, Europe, Middle East and Africa for GW. From March 2000, David worked as a member of the merger integration team, with responsibility for facilitating international commercial.
David joined Glaxo in 1978. During the following years, he held increasingly responsible roles in both the manufacturing site network and the central functions. In 1994 he was appointed Director, Manufacturing strategy where he co-ordinated the worldwide integration of Glaxo and Wellcome manufacturing activities.
He has a PhD in microbiology from Newcastle University.

He joined SmithKline Beecham in 1988 and held various positions of increasing responsibility, including Head of Hospital Sales, Marketing Manager for Anti-Infective products and Business Unit Director for the UK Pharmaceuticals General Medicine business before moving to the US, where he assumed responsibility for Market Research for the US Pharmaceuticals business. He later became Vice President & Director of Anti-Infectives Marketing, then Vaccines Marketing in the US, before assuming his role in Canada.
Eddie is an advisory board member of Opportunity Now, an organisation for employers who are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for women, and is also a Director of the British Pharma Group.
He holds an honours degree in Chemistry and Management Studies from the University of London, and an MBA from the Cranfield School of Management in the UK. He is married with three daughters.

John Clarke assumed the role of President, Consumer Healthcare, GlaxoSmithKline in January 2006. He is a member of the Corporate Executive Team. John was previously the President of the GSK Consumer Healthcare Futures Group.
John joined Beecham in 1976 and progressed through a number of marketing and General Manager roles in Australasia, South Africa, The Far East, Japan, Canada and the UK. In 1996, John was appointed General Manager of the nutritional healthcare business.

Dan Phelan became Chief of Staff with primary responsibility for leading the critical support functions for GSK in May 2008. He is a member of the Corporate Executive Team. He was Senior Vice President, Human Resources, GlaxoSmithKline since January 2001. Previously, he had held the same position in SmithKline Beecham.
Dan joined the company as Manager of Labour Relations in 1981 and, in 1986, was named Vice President, Employee Relations. In 1987, he became Vice President, Human Resources and, in 1989, was appointed Vice President and Director Personnel-US, Pharmaceuticals. He later became Senior Vice President and Director, Operations and Administration, Research & Development.
Dan is an honours graduate of Rutgers University, New Jersey. He served as an officer in the US Army Medical Service Corps, returning to Ohio State University for a Master's degree in higher education administration. He was a director in the Office of Student Services at Ohio State for three years. He returned to Rutgers, where he earned a Law degree. Following an internship with the National Labor Relations Board and a clerkship with the Chief Judge of the US Federal District Court in New Jersey, he joined the labour department of a major Philadelphia law firm. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Dan is a member of the Board of Directors of Tyco Electronics. He is also a member of the Dean's Advisory Council at Rutgers School of Law-Camden.

David Redfern was appointed Chief Strategy Officer in May 2008 and is responsible for proactive exploration of new business opportunities and strategic planning. Previously, he was Senior Vice President, Northern Europe with responsibility for managing GSK's pharmaceutical businesses in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.

Julian Heslop assumed the role of Chief Financial Officer for GlaxoSmithKline in April 2005.
Previously, Julian served as Senior Vice President, Operations Controller. In this role, he was a member of the pharmaceutical operating committee and chaired the capital review team. He was appointed to this position following the merger of Glaxo Wellcome and SmithKline Beecham in January 2001, prior to which he was Financial Controller of Glaxo Wellcome.
Julian qualified as a chartered accountant in 1977 whilst working for John M Winter. In 1978 he joined Stoy Hayward as an auditor. He moved to Imperial Brewing and Leisure in 1979 where he worked in a number of management accounting and strategic planning roles. He joined Grand Metropolitan in1986 and held a number of senior roles in their brewing, property and food businesses and was latterly Group Controller. He joined Glaxo Wellcome in 1998.

Duncan Learmouth was appointed Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications and Community Partnerships in July 2006. He is a member of the Corporate Executive Team. He was previously Vice President, Global Investor Relations and Competitive Excellence.
Duncan joined Glaxo Wellcome in 1991 and joined the Investor Relations department in 1997. In December 2000, after the merger of Glaxo Wellcome and SmithKline Beecham he was appointed Vice President of Investor Relations. In November 2001 he was appointed Vice President, Global Investor Relations with responsibility for the global IR function, reporting to the CFO. In February 2006 he added the competitive excellence function to his responsibilities, which reports to the CEO, and includes the role of secretary to the CET, GSK's Executive Committee.
Prior to Investor Relations, Duncan was a Senior Financial Analyst within the Corporate Finance department responsible for the Group's strategic plan. He has also been Financial Controller of Adechsa SA based in Zug, Switzerland and worked in the Financial Investigations and Trading Arrangements departments, both also part of Corporate Finance.
Before moving to Glaxo Wellcome, Duncan was with Deloitte and Touche in London from 1988, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1991. Duncan was educated at Durham University where he gained a degree in Chemistry.

Linda Kollofski has served as the Company's Vice President of Domestic Marketing since February of 2004 and as Vice President of New Business Development from November of 2002 to January of 2004. Dan Troy joined GSK as Senior Vice President & General Counsel in September 2008. Reporting to Andrew Witty, he is based in Franklin Plaza, Philadelphia PA, and is a member of the Corporate Executive Team.
Previously a Partner at the Washington law firm Sidley Austin LLP, where he represented mainly pharmaceutical companies and trade associations on matters related to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and government regulations, Dan was formerly Chief Counsel for the FDA, where he served as a primary liaison to the White House and the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
While leading an office of attorneys who reviewed and approved all major regulations and guidances, Dan oversaw the legislative implications of many of the most important issues facing the pharmaceutical industry today, including the reform of the Hatch-Waxman Act and subsequent legislative ratification. His office also approved and managed all agency litigation, and Dan established procedures for the FDA legal team to follow in preparing and then litigating high-profile cases.

Dr Moncef Slaoui assumed the role of Chairman, Research & Development in June 2006. He is a member of the Corporate Executive team and the Board of GlaxoSmithKline plc.
In his previous position as Senior Vice President, Worldwide business development and external alliances, he served on the R&D Executive team and spearheaded recent changes in R&D to enhance drug discovery and accelerate product development. Previously, in GSK Biologicals, he engineered the development of a robust vaccines pipeline, including Rotarix, to prevent infantile gastroenteritis, and Cervarix, to prevent cervical cancer.
Following a career in academia, he has demonstrated during his 17 years at GSK that he can create a strategic vision and then vigorously pursue it to develop new products that profoundly enhance healthcare.
Moncef earned a PhD in Molecular Biology and Immunology from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium, and completed postdoctoral studies at Harvard Medical School and Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston. He was a professor of immunology at the University of Mons, Belgium. He has authored more than 100 scientific papers and presentations and is a Member of Board of the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR). A citizen of Morocco and Belgium, he is fluent in English, French, and Arabic.

Dr Podolsky is an Independent Non-Executive Director, Mallinkrodt Professor of Medicine and Chief of Gastroenterology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School as well as Chief Academic Officer of Partners HealthCare System. Independent Non-Executive Director. Professor Anderson is the Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology in the Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College, London and, until 30 September 2007, the Chief Scientific Adviser at the Ministry of Defence in the United Kingdom. It was announced on 21 June 2007 that Professor Anderson will succeed Sir Richard Sykes as Rector of Imperial College in the summer of 2008.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society, a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences, a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society, Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and a Foreign Associate Member of the Institute of Medicine at the US National Academy of Sciences.
He has published over 450 scientific papers on the epidemiology, population biology, evolution and control of a wide variety of infectious disease agents, including HIV, BSE, vCJD, parasitic helminths and protozoa, and respiratory tract viral and bacterial infections.
His principal research interests are epidemiology, biomathematics, demography, parasitology, immunology and health economics. He also has a keen interest in science policy and the public understanding of science.
He received a Knighthood in the Queen's Birthday Honours in June 2006.

Independent Non-Executive Director. Dr Burns is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Dow Corning. She joined Dow Corning in 1983 as a researcher working on water based and high temperature elastomers. She became director of Women's Health in 1994 and subsequently moved into corporate management becoming Science and Technology Director for Europe in 1997. She was first elected to Dow Corning's Board of Directors in December 2000, she was then elected President and Chief Executive Officer in February 2003, Chief Operating Officer in January 2004 and Chairman in January 2006.

Tom de Swaan (born 1946, Dutch Citizen) has been a member of the Boards of Zurich Financial Services Ltd and of Zurich Insurance Company since April 2006. Mr. de Swaan joined De Nederlandsche Bank N.V. in 1972, and from 1986 until 1998 was a member of the governing board there. In January 1999, he became a member of the managing board and chief financial officer of ABN AMRO Bank. He retired from ABN AMRO on May 1, 2006, but continued as an advisor to the managing board until June 2007. Mr. de Swaan is a non-executive member of the board of GlaxoSmithKline Plc and chairman of its audit committee. He is a member of the supervisory board of Royal DSM, a Netherland-based chemical group and Corporate Express NV, a Netherland-based distributor of office products. Since May 3, 2007, he has been vice-chairman of the supervisory board of Royal Ahold, a global retail chain and since May 10, 2007, vice-chairman of the supervisory board of Van Lanschot NV, the holding company of F. van Lanschot Bankiers, an independent Dutch bank. From 1987 to 1988, he was chairman of the Amsterdam Financial Center, and from 1995 to 1997 chairman of the banking supervisory sub-committee of the European Monetary Institute. He was also a member of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision from 1991 to 1996, and its chairman from 1997 to 1998, and a non-executive director on the board of the UK's Financial Services Authority from January 2001 until the end of 2006. Mr. de Swaan is also director of a number of non-profit organizations. Among others he is treasurer of the board of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Netherlands Cancer Institute and the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition. Moreover, he chairs the advisory board of the Rotterdam School of Management. Mr. de Swaan graduated from the University of Amsterdam with a master's degree in economics.
