Darius Gilanfar was elected Granite City Food & Brewery’s Chief Operating Officer in September 2008, having previously served as Senior Vice President of Operations for the company since 2007.
Gilanfar brings over 20 years of restaurant industry experience. Prior to joining
Granite City Food & Brewery, he served as President & Chief Operating Officer for Copeland’s of New Orleans. Gilanfar has worked in a leadership role for some of the Restaurant Industries leading premier growth organizations, to include The Cheesecake Factory, Starbuck’s Café Division at Barnes and Noble, Brinker International and Universal Studios City Walk.
Gilanfar is a certified Food Management Professional (FMP) with a Culinary and Hospitality Degree.

Eric LaClair holds the position of Senior Vice President Operations. LaClair has been with Granite City Food & Brewery since 1999 and has served in a variety of leadership roles including Kitchen and General Management, Director of Operations and Vice President of Operations. Prior to joining Granite City Food & Brewery, LaClair was a member of the management team at Champp’s Americana restaurant group.
Liz Severance is responsible for overseeing Training/Performance Development, Talent Acquisition and Management, Staff Relations, Risk Management, and Payroll. Liz has over 15 years of diverse experience within the restaurant industry which includes: Human Resources, Restaurant Operations, Sales, and Marketing. Prior to joining Granite City Food & Brewery in 2004, Liz led the Human Resources Department at E-Brands Restaurants, a multi concept restaurant group that was formally a division of Carlson Restaurants Worldwide. Prior to her association with E-Brands, Liz worked for Giordano's, Plaza International (Houlihan's & Sizzler) and Mike Ditka's Restaurant Group. Liz received a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Business Administration in 2001, from The University of Phoenix. She holds a Director position on the board of the Minnesota Restaurant Association.
Monica Underwood is the Corporate Controller for the Company. She is responsible for our day-to-day financial concerns and our financial reporting to the public, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the NASDAQ Stock Market. Additionally, Monica is responsible for our investor relations and public relations. Monica joined our team in April 2001 with her 10 plus years of management and public reporting experience. Prior to April 2001, she was the Corporate Controller for iNTELEFILM Corporation, f/k/a Children's Broadcasting Corporation, a publicly held company engaged in television commercial production. Monica received her Bachelor of Science degree from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Mr. Alan Rust is Director of Operations for Region 3. Al was the first General Manager at our original location in St. Cloud, Minnesota. During that time he was an integral part of our growth and operations, concept development as well as helping to develop many of our current leaders and General Managers. Al's responsibilities will include overseeing the operations for Kansas and Missouri. Prior to joining Granite City, Alan worked for Champps and T.G.I. Friday's. Having worked his way up through the ranks, he has held many positions including new store opening trainer, divisional field trainer, kitchen manager, manager, and general manager.
Mr. Art Nermoe is Director of Kitchens for the Company. His primary responsibility is two-fold. First, he is the food-related guardian of the concept by overseeing the company's aggressive food development program. Secondly, he oversees the overall quality of our kitchen operations. Mr. Nermoe has developed all of the menu items for the Granite City concept as well as its internal quality assurance program. He has also developed thousands of proprietary recipes used for our weekly specials. From recipe variety, plate presentation and flavor perspectives, his understanding of casual dining food products is unmatched in the industry. Mr. Nermoe had 13 years experience with the Champps Americana restaurant chain in a variety of kitchen management positions. He has been at the forefront of developing casual dining food for more than 15 years. Prior to his involvement with Champps, Mr. Nermoe was Sous Chef with the critically acclaimed Minneapolis restaurant Winfield Potters for several years. Mr. Nermoe's passion for quality food operations and products has helped highlight our competitive advantage regarding our competitors and provides for an uncompromising level of quality and execution.
Mr. Don Stegman has 17 years experience working as programmer/Systems support for Foremost Business Systems. He has received an Associate Degree in Electronics specializing in Computer Technology at NEI and has a MCSE certification.
Eugene E. McGowan became one of our directors in January 2003 and Chairman of the Board in February 2009. Since 2001, Mr. McGowan has been President and Chief Executive Officer of McGowan Capital Group, a private equity company that invests in early to mid-stage regional companies. In 1985, he joined Piper Jaffray, Inc. and in 1999 was promoted to Chief Operating Officer of Individual Investor Services with US Bancorp Piper Jaffray where he directed the day-to-day activities of over one hundred branch offices.
Arthur E. Pew III became one of our directors in August 1997. Retired since 1990, Mr. Pew served
as a director of the Pew Charitable Trusts and the Glenmede Trust Company, N.A., both in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from October 1996 to March 2005. Mr. Pew owned several Champps
Americana restaurants from 1989 to 1996.

Dermot F. Rowland founded Timber Lodge Steakhouse, Inc. and served as its Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer, Treasurer and Director from 1989 to 1998. Prior to forming Timber Lodge, Mr. Rowland was involved in the formation and management of Homestyle Buffets, Inc. He co-founded Homestyle in 1986 and served as its Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer until 1991. From 1973 to 1986, Mr. Rowland served as President of Rowland Companies, Inc., and its subsidiary, Diversified Construction Company, a general contractor, in such capacity he assisted in the site selection, architectural planning and design, and was responsible for the development of various building projects including restaurants for chains such as Buffets, Inc., Godfather Pizza and Red Lobster.
