Great River Medical Center is a regional medical center offering acute, skilled and intermediate care to residents of southeast Iowa, west-central Illinois and northeast Missouri. The hospital offers comprehensive medical and surgical services on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Great River Medical Center is part of Great River Health Systems, a 378-bed regional, integrated health-care system that includes: retail pharmacies; retail medical equipment and supplies services; outpatient renal dialysis center; and a network of speciality and primary-care clinics located throughout the region. Great River Medical Center's Emergency Department sees more than 27,000 patients a year and is staffed by nine board-certified physicians. Great River Medical Center is only the second hospital in the state of Iowa to have its emergency department staffed entirely by physicians who are board-certified in emergency medicine. The hospital's Klein Center offers long-term nursing care in a parklike setting and features a special unit for patients with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of severe dementia.
