D. Edward (Ted) Smyth is executive vice president, Corporate Affairs and executive assistant to Harold (Terry) McGraw III, the chairman, president and chief executive officer of The McGraw-Hill Companies. He manages the marketing, communications, government affairs and community relations activities of the Corporation, and advises the chairman on matters involving the Board of Directors and the management and operation of the Corporation. Before joining The McGraw-Hill Companies in 2009, Ted was chief administrative officer and senior vice president at the H.J. Heinz Company, where he was responsible for human resources, and corporate and government affairs. During his tenure at Heinz, the company expanded rapidly in overseas markets such as India, China, Russia, Spain and Indonesia. Ted was chairman of Heinz’s Global Communications Council, and a member of the Office of the Chairman. Ted joined Heinz in March 1988 following a 15-year career as an Irish diplomat. He is a native of Ireland and served in embassies in Switzerland, Portugal, the United States and Great Britain. He has published several articles on public policy and speaks regularly at conferences in the United States and Europe. Ted is an honors graduate in History and Political Science from Trinity College, Dublin. He is a Director of the Africa America Institute, the Ireland Funds and Glucksman Ireland House at New York University, and a member of the Global Studies Program of the Center for International Studies at the University of Pittsburgh.

Candace Kendle, PharmD, is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Kendle International Inc., one of the world's leading global clinical research organizations (CROs). The company focuses on bringing new live-saving and life-enhancing drugs to market for the benefit of patients worldwide. Since co-founding Kendle in 1981, she has provided the overall vision and strategy to grow the company from a small consulting business into one of the largest providers of clinical development solutions for the biopharmaceutical industry. Today, Kendle is one of the few truly global CROs, with operations spanning North America, Europe, Asia/Pacific, Latin America and Africa. The company currently operates in 51 locations throughout 28 countries and employs more than 4,000 associates. Kendle is one of only three CROs to derive more than 50 percent of its revenue from outside North America. In 2008, Kendle was named to the FORTUNE Magazine list of the 100 fastest-growing companies in the United States. The company posted 2008 net service revenue of $475.1 million, a 19 percent increase year-over-year. Dr. Kendle is recognized worldwide as leader in the CRO industry. She is a founding member and past chairperson of the Association of Clinical Research Organizations (ACRO), which fosters continued advancement of medical product development and expedites the introduction of new medicines and new treatments to improve health and save lives. She also is a member of the Committee of 200, an organization of preeminent women entrepreneurs and corporate leaders, and has received numerous civic, financial and pharmaceutical industry leadership awards.

Mr. Usher graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering, a master of science degree in operations research and a doctorate in systems engineering. He joined United States Steel Corporation (later renamed USX Corporation) in 1965 and held various positions in industrial engineering. From 1975 through 1979, he held a number of management positions at U.S. Steel's South and Gary Works. Mr. Usher was elected Executive Vice President of Heavy Products in 1986, President of U.S. Steel Group and Director of USX in 1991, President and Chief Operating Officer of USX in 1994 and Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer effective July 1, 1995. He retired from United States Steel Corporation as Chief Executive Officer in September 2004 and as non-executive Chairman of the Board on February 1, 2006. Mr. Usher serves on the Boards of Directors of H. J. Heinz Co., The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. and PPG Industries, Inc. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Pittsburgh and a Board of Directors member of the Extra Mile Education Foundation. Mr. Usher is a member of The Business Council.

Charles E. Bunch is chairman and CEO of PPG Industries. A PPG director since 2002, he is also a director of H.J. Heinz Co.

"Former President of The National League of Professional Baseball Clubs Mr. Coleman is the former president of The National League of Professional Baseball Clubs. Mr. Coleman signed on with Major League Baseball in 1992 as executive director—market development. Previously, Mr. Coleman was a municipal finance banker for Kidder, Peabody & Company. Prior to joining Kidder, Mr. Coleman served as commissioner of both the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs and Department of Energy, and chairman of the Hackensack Meadowlands Development Commission and the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency. He was the vice chairman of the State Commission on Ethical Standards and a member of the Economic Development Authority, Urban Enterprise Zone Authority, Urban Development Authority, State Planning Commission and New Jersey Public Television Commission. Mr. Coleman also has served as president of the Greater Newark Urban Coalition. From 1976 to 1980, Mr. Coleman worked in Africa in mission service for the Protestant Episcopal Church of the United States, providing management consultant services in health care, education and church and community development in 17 African countries. Mr. Coleman received an undergraduate degree in history from Princeton University. He also earned a master’s in public administration degree and a master’s in education and social policy degree, both from Harvard University. Mr. Coleman serves on the board of directors of The Omnicom Group, Cendant Corp., Aramark, Churchill Downs and Electronic Arts. He also serves as a director of a number of other organizations, including the Children’s Defense Fund, The Metropolitan Opera, the Schumann Fund, and Little League Baseball. Mr. Coleman is chairman of the Jackie Robinson Foundation. He is a former chairman of the board of trustees of the Presiding Bishop’s Fund for World Relief and the United States chairman of the Bishop Tutu Scholarship Fund. "

William C. Springer is a retired Executive Vice President with H.J. Heinz Company. He worked at H.J. Heinz from 1974 to 2000 and held various management and executive positions including head of Heinz North America, Heinz U.S.A. and H.J. Heinz of Canada. Mr. Springer served as a director of Highmark from 1996 through April, 2006.
