D. Edward (Ted) Smyth is executive vice president, Corporate Affairs and executive assistant to Harold (Terry) McGraw III, the chairman, president and chief executive officer of The McGraw-Hill Companies. He manages the marketing, communications, government affairs and community relations activities of the Corporation, and advises the chairman on matters involving the Board of Directors and the management and operation of the Corporation. Before joining The McGraw-Hill Companies in 2009, Ted was chief administrative officer and senior vice president at the H.J. Heinz Company, where he was responsible for human resources, and corporate and government affairs. During his tenure at Heinz, the company expanded rapidly in overseas markets such as India, China, Russia, Spain and Indonesia. Ted was chairman of Heinz’s Global Communications Council, and a member of the Office of the Chairman. Ted joined Heinz in March 1988 following a 15-year career as an Irish diplomat. He is a native of Ireland and served in embassies in Switzerland, Portugal, the United States and Great Britain. He has published several articles on public policy and speaks regularly at conferences in the United States and Europe. Ted is an honors graduate in History and Political Science from Trinity College, Dublin. He is a Director of the Africa America Institute, the Ireland Funds and Glucksman Ireland House at New York University, and a member of the Global Studies Program of the Center for International Studies at the University of Pittsburgh.

Swann is president of Swann, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in marketing and communications and managing director of Diamond Edge Capital Partners, LLC, a New York based finance company. Mr. Swann currently sits on the board of directors of H. J. Heinz Company, Hershey Entertainment and Resorts, Harrah’s Entertainment, Empower and Transdel Pharmaceuticals. He was also chairman of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports from 2002-2005. A former All-Pro wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers and 2001 Hall of Famer, he spent 29 years with ABC Sports as a sports analyst and broadcaster before retiring in 2006. Since 1980 he has been the National Spokesman for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. He now serves on their National Board of Directors and was President of the national board from 1993 – 1995. Mr. Swann holds a B.A. degree in public relations from the University of Southern California. He and his wife, Dr. Charena Swann, and their two sons reside in Pittsburgh. "

Mr. Usher graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering, a master of science degree in operations research and a doctorate in systems engineering. He joined United States Steel Corporation (later renamed USX Corporation) in 1965 and held various positions in industrial engineering. From 1975 through 1979, he held a number of management positions at U.S. Steel's South and Gary Works. Mr. Usher was elected Executive Vice President of Heavy Products in 1986, President of U.S. Steel Group and Director of USX in 1991, President and Chief Operating Officer of USX in 1994 and Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer effective July 1, 1995. He retired from United States Steel Corporation as Chief Executive Officer in September 2004 and as non-executive Chairman of the Board on February 1, 2006. Mr. Usher serves on the Boards of Directors of H. J. Heinz Co., The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. and PPG Industries, Inc. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Pittsburgh and a Board of Directors member of the Extra Mile Education Foundation. Mr. Usher is a member of The Business Council.
