MAUREEN E. MANEY, incoming Recording Secretary, is a partner in the Syracuse law firm of Hancock & Estabrook, LLP. Ms. Maney's practice concentrates on civil litigation at the trial and appellate levels. She has represented hospitals, the trucking industry, financial institutions and individuals in a wide variety of civil cases. Ms. Maney also dedicates a portion of her practice to guardianship proceedings. She is admitted to practice in New York and the United States District Court for the Northern and Western Districts of New York. Ms. Maney is a graduate of Albany Law School of Union University (magna cum laude) and Le Moyne College (Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude). While in law school, she was a Managing Editor of the Albany Law Journal of Science and Technology, a member of the Justinian Honor Society, the Order of Barristers, and was the recipient of the Dominick Gabrielli Award for Appellate Advocacy. Ms. Maney has been active in several professional associations including the Central New York Chapter of WBASNY having served as Secretary (2005-2006), President-Elect (2006-2007) and President (2007-2008). She is also a member of the Onondaga County and New York State Bar Associations and has lectured on litigation topics. She also serves as a member of the Committee on Women and the Courts for the Fifth Judicial District. Maureen is also involved in her community serving on the fundraising committee for Ronald McDonald House and is an active member of the Junior League of Syracuse. She lives in Liverpool, New York with her husband Kurt Rosengrant. She is honored to join the WBASNY Board.

Mr. Clark concentrates his practice on advising clients in all areas of business and commercial law, including formation of business entities, business acquisitions and sales, other commercial transactions and commercial litigation. He is the leader of the Firm's Bankruptcy & Creditors' Rights practice group.
Mr. D'Agostino has practiced health law in New York for over 25 years and is recognized statewide as a leader in the field. He provides a wide array of legal services to health care providers and organizations, including the development of alternative delivery systems, corporate restructuring, privatization of public facilities, provider joint venturing, state and federal regulatory compliance and counseling on patient care and medical staff matters. Mr. D'Agostino serves as general counsel to several hospitals in Central New York. He is a frequent lecturer on health law issues. Mr. D'Agostino is the leader of the Firm's Health Care practice group and is a member of the Executive Committee.
Mr. Cook has over 30 years experience in the areas of Corporate and Banking law. He represents clients in merger and acquisitions, private equity transactions and general corporate matters. He also handles a variety of banking transactions, including asset-based lending, syndicated loans, letters of credit and general commercial matters. Mr. Cook is the leader of the Firm's Public Finance practice. He is listed as approved bond counsel in the "Red Book" and has represented issuers and credit parties for manufacturing, civic facility and health care facility bonds. He also represents municipalities issuing general obligation and revenue bonds.
Mr. Shaw has over 20 years experience handling commercial real estate sales purchases. He represents clients on matters involving environmental compliance and remediation, commercial lease transactions, secured loan transactions and construction financing. His practice also includes commercial and residential development, summary proceedings and mortgage foreclosures. Mr. Shaw is the leader of the Firm's Real Estate practice group and a member of the Firm's Executive Committee.
Thomas C. Buckel, Jr., a partner at Hancock & Estabrook, LLP, has more than 25 years of experience trying complex commercial cases to courts and juries, consistently receiving favorable judgments, verdicts and appellate decisions. Mr. Buckel has experience prosecuting and defending cutting-edge complex commercial and business lawsuits, including antitrust and competition claims, and has consistently won favorable decisions in complex banking and financial actions. Mr. Buckel has also conducted numerous arbitrations and other alternative dispute resolution proceedings, both as an advocate and as a party selected arbitrator. His extensive experience as an arbitrator, elected Onondaga County Legislator and community leader has strengthened his effectiveness an advocate before juries and judges, and as a problem solver in helping clients find innovative, economical resolutions of their business disputes.
Mr. Murphy has more than 17 years of litigation experience, handling cases involving medical malpractice defense, automobile and trucking accidents, products liability, construction accidents, class actions, premises liability, contracts and white collar crime. He has represented clients in a number of mass tort lawsuits involving e-coli, listeria, salmonella and water poisoning. He has served as the Firm's past Hiring Partner and Chair of the Hiring Committee.
Mr. Meagher, former Managing Partner of the Firm, has over 30 years experience in the areas of personal injury, premises liability, automobile liability, construction accidents and products liability litigation.
Judge Hancock represented the New York State Senate in two landmark separation-of-power cases that deal with how New York State is governed. Both cases Pataki v. Assembly and Silver v. Pataki focused on the budgetary power that the governor holds under the New York State Constitution. He holds a position as Distinguished Visiting Professor and Jurist in Residence at Syracuse Law School where he teaches a seminar in Case Analysis and Appellate Advocacy. Judge Hancock was appointed New York State Supreme Court Justice by Governor Rockefeller in 1971 and elected in 1972. From 1977 until his appointment to the Court of Appeals by Governor Cuomo in 1986, he served on the Appellate Division Fourth Department. Prior to his judicial career, Judge Hancock was at Hancock & Estabrook, specializing in appellate and trial advocacy. In 1962-1963 he served as the first full-time Corporation Counsel for the City of Syracuse. In 1964-1965 he chaired the Onondaga County Republican Committee. He ran for United States Congress in 1966. Judge Hancock served as a line Officer in the United States Navy, 1945-1947 and in the United States Naval Reserve during the Korean Conflict, 1950-1951. Judge Hancock is a graduate of Cornell Law School (LLB), 1950. He graduated sixth in his class and served as a member of the Board of Cornell Law Quarterly. He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy (B.S.) 1945. He holds Honorary L.L.D. degrees from Syracuse University and Le Moyne College and received the New York State Bar Association's Gold Medal Award for Distinguished Service in Law in January, 2000. Judge Hancock is a member and life fellow of the American Bar Association; member and fellow of the New York State Bar Association; member, Governor's Judicial Screening Committee, Fourth Judicial Department; member, N.Y.S.B.A. Committee on Selection for Court of Appeals Judges; member, Chief Judge's Commission to Promote Public Confidence in Judicial Elections; member, N.Y.S.B.A. Special Commission on Court Structure and Judicial Selection; member, N.Y.S.B.A. Special Committee on Judicial Independence; ex officio member, Board of Directors, Onondaga County Bar Association; past Director, Onondaga County Assigned Counsel Program, Inc.; Board member, Frank H. Hiscock Legal Aid Society; member, Board of Visitors, Syracuse University College of Law and member, Advisory Council, Cornell Law School. Judge Hancock has lectured at Syracuse, Cornell, Touro and Albany Law Schools and for numerous CLE programs. In 2003-2004 he participated in the Center for International Legal Studies programs on international mediation and arbitration in Heidelberg, Germany and in Salzburg, Austria. In 2004, he gave the third annual Hugh R. Jones Memorial Lecture at Albany Law School. He has addressed various legal and civic groups on New York's death penalty statute and other topics. He has authored numerous published legal articles and has contributed chapters to textbooks on commercial litigation.
