Douglas W. Fink is a Partner in the firm's Mobile office. He is a member of the firm's Life, Health and Disability, Admiralty, Product Liability, Insurance, and Personal Injury Groups. His litigation practice and experience encompasses these and a wide variety of other litigation areas, including commercial litigation, premises liability, underground storage tank liability, and professional liability. Mr. Fink has tried jury and non-jury cases in both State and Federal Court and has tried cases in arbitration. He has represented a wide range of clients, including insurance companies, insurance brokers, pharmacists, pharmacies, manufacturers, oil companies, shipyards and airlines. Mr. Fink is a member of the Commercial Litigation, Drug and Medical Device and Professional Liability Committees of the Defense Research Institute. He is a member of the Alabama Defense Lawyer's Association and serves on its editorial board. He is also a member of the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute and has been elected as a Port Director.

R. Preston Bolt, Jr. serves as the Managing Partner for the firm. He practices in the fields of public finance, securities, and commercial and lending transactions. He was born in Anniston, Alabama, practiced in Georgia from 1979 until 1982, and was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1983. He graduated from The University of Alabama, B.A. 1976, and from Vanderbilt University School of Law, J.D. 1979. Preston was selected for membership in Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa, Jasons, and was the recipient of the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award. At Vanderbilt Law School, he was a Patrick Wilson Scholar and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. He served on the staff of the Vanderbilt Law Review, 1977-1979. Preston is a member of the Mobile County Bar Association, the National Association of Bond Lawyers, and the Advisory Board for Bellingrath Gardens and Home. He is listed in the Best Lawyers in America for Public Finance Law.

Alec Moseley has concentrated for over 25 years in civil litigation, focusing on construction law and complex business disputes. He chairs the firm?s Commercial Litigation Practice Group and Construction and Public Contracts Practice Team and serves as counsel to participants in all aspects of the construction and design industries, including owners and developers, general contractors, specialty contractors, and design professionals. Mr. Moseley is active in litigating construction disputes, in pursuing them through other channels such as arbitration and administrative appeals of government contract claims, and in negotiation and drafting of construction contracts, design agreements, and other project arrangements. He is a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers.

Anne G. Burrows is an associate in the firm's Athens office. She practices in the areas of real estate, probate, bankruptcy, municipal, education, and commercial law. She received her J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law where she was a member of the Law and Psychology Review. She obtained her B.A., cum laude, from the University of Richmond and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Mrs. Burrows previously held the position of Deputy District Attorney for Limestone County. Mrs. Burrows is past President of the Limestone County Bar Association. She is also a member of First United Methodist Church in Athens.

Benjamin S. Goldman practices in the firm's litigation section. Benjamin graduated, magna cum laude, with a B.A. from Spring Hill College. He obtained his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law where he was a member of the National Trial Advocacy Team, Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society, the Student Bar Association (First Year Senator) and the Honor Court (Third Year Associate Justice).

Brad Rowe is an associate in Hand Arendall's litigation section. Brad received his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law where he was a Presidential Scholar. He received his undergraduate degree in Business Management from Samford University in 2003.

James M. Tingle's primary areas of practice are real estate, litigation, probate, and estate planning. His experience includes service as a municipal judge for many years, and, currently, as City attorney for Tarrant, Alabama. He was born in Trussville, Alabama in 1931 and was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1959, Alabama, U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth and Eleventh Circuits and U. S. Tax Court. Mr. Tingle graduated from Birmingham Law School in 1959 and attended The University of Alabama and Samford University. He has served as the Jefferson County Conservator since 1977, and has been a frequent lecturer on real estate, eminent domain, conservatorship, and estate matters. He served as Special Assistant Attorney General of the State of Alabama from 1963 to 1985. Mr. Tingle is a member of the Birmingham Bar Association and the Alabama State Bar.

John Rollins is an associate in the firm's Birmingham office. John practices in the area of litigation and received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Cumberland School of Law, where he was a member of the Cumberland Law Review. John graduated with a B.A. in English and Philosophy from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2001.

Katie L. Hammett is an associate in Hand Arendall's litigation section. Katie received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Alabama School of Law. While at Alabama, Katie served on the managing board of the Alabama Law Review and the John A. Campbell Moot Court Board. Katie authored School Shootings, Ceramic Tiles & Hazelwood: The Continuing Lessons of the Columbine Tragedy, 55 Ala. L. Rev. 393 (2004). She also received the Maynard, Cooper & Gale Best Junior Editor Award for her work on the law review. She was a Hugo Black Scholar, member of the Bench & Bar, and was selected for membership into the Order of the Coif.

Laura A. Palmer is an associate in the firm's Mobile office. She focuses her practice in the areas of real estate and corporate law. Laura graduated with a B.A. in English, cum laude, from Auburn University in 1997. Laura obtained her J.D. and M.P.P. from the University of Chicago where she was the recipient of the Cabiness Johnston Scholarship and Public Policy Dean's Scholarship in 2004 and practiced law for a firm in Birmingham before joining Hand Arendall. Laura is currently a member of the Alabama and American Bar Associations.

Paul T. Beckmann is an associate in Hand Arendall's litigation section. Paul received his J.D., cum laude, in 2006 from the University of Mississippi School of Law. While at Ole Miss, Paul was a member of the Moot Court Board. Paul also received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance, cum laude, from the University of Mississippi in 2003.

Leanna Bankester has practiced in Hand Arendall's Mobile office since 2003 and is an associate of the firm. She is a member of Hand Arendall's Litigation Section. Her general litigation experience includes landowner liability; mass tort litigation; product liability/exposure cases; employment matters; landlord/tenant disputes; personal injury and wrongful death actions; insurance coverage disputes; life, health and disability insurance disputes; insurance interpleader actions; medical malpractice; and construction/condominium litigation. Ms. Bankester is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Alabama and Mississippi, as well as the Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeal.

Stephen Fitts is an associate in Hand Arendall's Litigation Section. He received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Alabama where he was a member of the Alabama Law Review, John A. Campbell Moot Court Board and Farrah Law Society. He is currently involved in the Defense Research Institute and the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association.

W. Bradley Smith is an associate in Hand Arendall's Litigation Section. Mr. Smith received his J.D., summa cum laude, in 2002 from the University of Tennessee College of Law, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif upon graduation. While attending the University of Tennessee, Mr. Smith was a member of the Tennessee Law Review. Mr. Smith received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from the University of North Carolina in 1998. Mr. Smith is a member of the Bar of the State of New York, First Department, and is admitted to practice in the Federal District Court for the Southern District of New York.

William H. Reece practices in the area of civil litigation, insurance defense law, workers compensation law, and nursing home defense litigation. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama. He was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1990. Bill graduated from University of Alabama at Birmingham, B.A., 1987 and Cumberland School of Law of Samford University J.D., cum laude 1990. He served as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Virgil Pittman, U.S. District Court, Southern District of Alabama, 1990-1992. Bill is a member of the Mobile and American Bar Associations, Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, and National Who's Who of American Lawyers.

Chris Gill practices primarily in the fields of real estate acquisition, development and financing. He also has significant experience in the formation of business organizations. In his practice, Chris has represented the Firm?s clients in numerous real estate acquisition and conveyance transactions involving undeveloped land, apartment complexes, hotels, shopping centers and restaurants. A significant amount of his work is in the development of condominium projects, which work involves drafting state and federal disclosure documents, forming condominiums, and representing condominium owners? associations. Chris has represented the Firm?s clients on numerous condominium projects located in Alabama as well as projects located in the states of Florida, South Carolina, Mississippi, Kansas and Illinois. In addition to these activities, Chris has extensive experience in representing both borrowers and lenders in commercial loan transactions. Chris is a member of the Mobile County Bar Association and the Alabama State Bar and is also active in community affairs, including service as a member of the board of directors of the Mobile Medical Museum.

Douglas L. McCoy practices primarily in the area of commercial litigation, including intellectual property and non-compete disputes, financing fraud litigation, contract dispute litigation, patent litigation, securities and litigation, corporate control litigation, commercial fraud and tort litigation, as well as in the areas of class action litigation and estate litigation. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia and was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1982. Doug graduated from Duke University School of Law in 1982 and from the University of Tennessee, B.S., magna cum laude, in 1979. Doug is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, as well as before the United States Circuit Courts of Appeal for the Second, Fifth and Eleventh Circuits and the United States District Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Alabama. Doug has argued cases before the United States Circuit Courts of Appeal for the Second, Fifth and Eleventh Circuits and before the Alabama Supreme Court. He has handled cases for clients in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi and in the Circuit Courts of several Mississippi counties, in addition to the courts of each of the federal districts in Alabama and a significant number of the state Circuit Courts of Alabama. Doug has lectured and written on numerous topics including non-competition and trade secret litigation, class action litigation and various damages issues including the defense of claims for punitive damages. He is Co-Chair of the Business Torts Litigation Committee of the ABA Section of Litigation and the immediate past president of the American Counsel Association. Doug is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, the Alabama Bar Association, and the Mobile Bar Association, having served on numerous committees of that organization during the tenure of his membership.

Shane Black practices in the field of general civil litigation. His litigation practice encompasses a variety of areas, including commercial litigation, property law, municipal law, education law, and complex litigation. The following list of Representative and Reported Cases reflects the variety of his practice. Mr. Black was born in Ripley, Alabama and was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1997. He received a Bachelor?s Degree in 1994 from Birmingham-Southern College, cum laude. He obtained his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law, summa cum laude. Mr. Black is a member of the Order of the Coif, and served as the Editor in Chief of the Alabama Law Review. Outside of his law practice, Mr. Black serves on the Board of Directors for the Athens-Limestone County Chamber of Commerce.

Harold Parkman practices primarily in the fields of commercial real estate development and financing, representing developers, investors and financial institutions. During his 39 years of practice he has assisted his clients in developing and financing commercial real estate developments throughout the Southeast, with emphasis on regional and urban retail shopping centers, including land acquisition, urban planning, and commercial leasing and financing negotiation. Mr. Parkman is a member of the Mobile County Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar (former Chairman, Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Section), and is chairman of the firm's real estate practice group. He is admitted to practice before the bar of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama, the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. In 1994 he was elected to membership in the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, and is recognized in the field of real estate law in The Best Lawyers in America. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and other scholastic societies. Mr. Parkman is active in cultural affairs in his community, having served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Gulf Coast Exploreum science museum, and having served as President of the Mobile Symphony. He is currently serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mobile Museum of Art.

Henry A. Callaway, III practices primarily in the field of business litigation, including the areas of consumer finance, bankruptcy, lender liability, trade secrets, shareholder disputes, injunctive relief, probate litigation, class actions, condemnation, and landlord/tenant law. He grew up in Maryville, Tennessee and graduated from Harvard University in 1980 with an A.B. in history and from Vanderbilt Law School in 1983. Henry was admitted to the bar and joined Hand Arendall in 1983. He is a member of the Mobile County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the American Bankruptcy Institute. He is admitted to all state, federal, and bankruptcy courts in Alabama, as well as the Eleventh Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Henry's practice focuses on the defense of consumer fraud and lender liability cases, both in individual cases and in class actions. These cases have involved consumer finance, insurance fraud, cellular telephone charges and bankruptcy charges and procedures. Henry is also the chairman of the firm's bankruptcy practice group and spends a significant amount of his time representing creditors in all three bankruptcy courts in Alabama. Henry's bar activities reflect his interest in providing access to the legal system for low-income citizens. He is currently serving his second term as president of the Mobile Bar Association's Volunteer Lawyers Program and was the first recipient of the local bar's Volunteer Lawyer of the Year Award in 2001. He was appointed by the Alabama Supreme Court to the state?s Access to Justice Commission and serves as treasurer of Legal Services Alabama. Outside the field of law, Henry has served as a scout leader for many years in a variety of positions and is currently scoutmaster for a troop of special needs youth. Henry is also vice-president of Loaves and Fish, which operates a multi-service center for the homeless in downtown Mobile, and senior warden of All Saints Episcopal Church.

Henry T. Morrissette is a member in the firm?s litigation section. He is Chairman of the firm's Personal Injury, Insurance and Employment Practice Group. He represents defendants in life, health & disability insurance cases, fraud and bad faith cases, product liability, and class action cases. Henry represents both plaintiffs and defendants in business disputes in state and federal court. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for insurance law. Henry has been very active in civil defense trial lawyer organizations. He served as President of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association (ADLA) in 2001. Prior to his Presidency, he served as secretary-treasurer, and as a director of ADLA. Henry served as Alabama State Representative (2002-2005) to the Defense Research Institute (DRI) and is active on the Life, Health & Disability Committee of the DRI. He is also a member of the International Association of Defense Council. While in law school at the University of Alabama, Henry served on the editorial board of the Alabama Law Review and was a member of the law school?s Trial Advocacy Competition Team. He received the Dean M. Leigh Harrison Award and was selected as a Hugo Black scholar. Henry is a member of Order of the Coif.

Lyman F. Holland, Jr.'s practice includes wills, trusts, probate administration of trusts and estates, corporate, estate planning and real estate law. He was born in Mobile, Alabama and was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1957. Lyman graduated from The University of Alabama in 1953 and from The University of Alabama School of Law in 1957. He was a member of the Board of Editors of the Alabama Law Review. Mr. Holland is a member of the Mobile County Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar (Chairman, Corporation, Partnership and Business Law Section, 1978-1980), and the American Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in the U.S. Supreme Court, the Southern District of Alabama and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Lyman is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, a former member of the Board of Directors of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel Foundation, and is a member of Alabama Law Institute and Council, the American Counsel Association, and the Alabama Law Foundation. Mr. Holland has served on the Alabama Law Institute drafting committees on Article 9, Uniform Commercial Code, Uniform Transfers to Minors Act (Chairman), Uniform Guardianship and Protective Proceedings Act, Probate Procedure, Probate Code, Uniform Principal and Income Act, and Uniform Prudent Investor Act. He is currently serving as a member of the Uniform Trust Act and the Uniform Estate Tax Apportionment Act Drafting Commitees. He is active in the Estate Planning Council of Mobile, and served as President in 1994-1995. Lyman is listed in the book The Best Lawyers in America in the field of trusts and estates and "Who's Who in American Law" by Marquis & "Who's Who in America" by Marquis.

Michael Niemeyer has practiced in Alabama since 1990 and will continue to represent national, state, and local clients in state and federal courts throughout Alabama. He is a lifelong resident of Baldwin County and enhances the firm's litigation and business practice in that jurisdiction. Mr. Niemeyer specializes in the representation of business, professional, insurance, retail and individual clients in civil litigation, and he has successfully represented these clients in numerous jury trials in both state and federal courts in Alabama. Mr. Niemeyer has also successfully defended and prosecuted appeals of these cases in Alabama and federal appellate courts. The significant cases in which Mr. Niemeyer has recently been involved include representation of developers, contractors, real estate firms and engineering firms in real estate and professional liability litigation; representation of corporations, hotels and other businesses in complex personal injury and wrongful death litigation; and representation of policyholders and insurance companies in insurance coverage disputes and bad faith litigation. Mr. Niemeyer also has extensive experience representing municipalities and landowners in storm water/drainage litigation. Mr. Niemeyer graduated from Louisiana State University (B.S. 1986), and obtained his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1990. He is a member of the Baldwin County, Mobile County, Alabama State, and American Bar Associations. Mr. Niemeyer is also involved with the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, and the Defense Research Institute.

Norman M. Stockman is a member of Hand Arendall's Litigation Section and Admiralty Section. His broad experience includes advising and representing clients in commercial disputes, marine casualties, and insurance coverage disputes, and defending businesses against personal injury claims and consumer claims. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Alabama and Mississippi, and is also admitted to practice before the Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeal. Mr. Stockman graduated from the University of Virginia, with distinction, and obtained his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law, magna cum laude. He is a member of the Mobile Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar, the Mississippi Bar, and the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute and the Maritime Law Association of the United States. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Young Lawyers Section of the Alabama State Bar and is a 2005 graduate of the International Association of Defense Counsel Trial Academy.

Mr. Crawford, age 68, served as General Counsel to BancTrust from July 2003 through December 2004 and has served as Chairman of the Executive Committee since 1992. He is also a member of the Hand Arendall, L.L.C. law firm, Mobile, Alabama, where he has practiced law since 1964. Mr. Crawford has been a director of the Alabama Bank since 1986 and served as a director of BancTrust Company, Inc., BancTrust s subsidiary trust company, from 1998 until 2007, when it was merged into the Alabama Bank.

T. Bruce McGowin has extensive experience in the fields of real estate, commercial finance, and environmental law. His clients include utilities, manufacturers, developers, investors, retailers, banks, finance companies, title insurers and management companies. Bruce is a member of the Mobile County Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar (Chairman, Environmental Section, 1988-1989), and the American Bar Association. He is a member of the Board of Directors for Main Street Mobile and the Downtown Mobile Alliance. He is a member of Leadership Coastal Alabama. He was a contributing editor for the Environmental Practice Guide published by Matthew Bender & Co. in 1992. Bruce is a frequent lecturer on environmental and real estate matters and is recognized in the book The Best Lawyers in America, for real estate law and environmental law.
