After graduating from UC Berkeley with a BS in Mathematics, he worked on operating systems and programming language compilers for Arpanet, which later became the Internet. He was the IT Director at Tymshare/Tymnet in the 1970s, where he created network accounting, and in 1978, he led the First Interstate Bank project that developed the world's first pre-Internet in-home banking system. He founded several data networking research firms in the 1980s, and co-founded Infonetics Research in 1990. Michael focuses on IP routers, MPLS, multiservice ATM switches, metro Ethernet, and optical equipment and technologies from customer CPE through the metro to the core, as well as frame relay, ATM, private line, Internet, mobile backhaul, Ethernet, and optical services that service providers offer their customers . Andrew Schmitt joins Infonetics Research (www.infonetics.com) in March 2009 as a seasoned optical market expert, bringing to Infonetics 18 years of telecom experience, including 14 focused specifically on optical networking. As lead optical analyst, Andrewa s expertise is focused squarely on optical network equipment, service provider optical networks, and optical services, including SONET/SDH, MSPP, crossconnect, WDM, ROADM, packet optical transport, 10G, 40G, 100G, metro, long-haul, etc. In addition to deepening Infonetics' current optical coverage, Andrew is focused on expanding into new optical territory. Joining Infonetics Research in December 2008, Diane Myers is widely regarded as one of the VoIP industry's top analysts. She brings to Infonetics 14 years of telecom industry analyst and marketing experience, including over 3 years as Strategic Marketing Director for VoIP application software vendor BroadSoft. Diane is a meticulous researcher with expertise in identifying new markets, product positioning, messaging, strategic planning, competitive analysis, and service provider go-to-market strategy. Prior to BroadSoft, Diane was a program manager with Stratecast Partners, where she provided strategic analysis and quantitative assessments of communications services to incumbent service providers and competitive operators.
