Bernie Tse brings to Tesla Motors volume manufacturing experience, with an emphasis on purchasing and manufacturing in Asia. He was founder and CEO of Wyse Technology, a manufacturer of display and computer products in San Jose, Calif, from 1981 until 1990. He started the company in 1981 with $600,000 from David Jackson of Altos Computers and $1 million from Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers of San Francisco. He led the company to an Initial Public Offering on NASDAQ in 1984 and an original listing on the NYSE in 1988. The amount of operating capital that he raised for Wyse Technology, both privately and publicly, was in excess of $350 million. When he left Wyse in 1990, the company had revenue of $500 million and employed 5,000 people worldwide. Wyse Technology was one of the first companies in the computer business to operate manufacturing facilities in Asia, with staffing of over 4,000 in its Taiwan and Hong Kong factories. Since 1990, Bernie has been a private investor.

Mr. Codd previously held management roles at MIPS Computer Systems, Inc., Wyse Technology and Tandem Computers, Inc. and currently serves as an independent business consultant. Mr. Codd also serves on the Board of Directors of Agile Software, Interwoven, Adept Technology, and two privately-held technology companies.
