Harris Methodist Heb Hospital

Deborah Paganelli, CHE, joined Harris Methodist H E B Hospital as its president in June 2007. Previously, Paganelli had served as president of Harris Methodist Erath County Hospital (HMEC) since the spring of 2004. Under her leadership, Harris Methodist Erath County Hospital has received many honors and recognitions. HMEC was the first hospital in the THR system to be designated as a Nurse-Friendly Hospital by the Texas Nurses Association. HMEC was designated as a Level IV Trauma Center and received the Premier Quality Award of Excellence for Maternal Newborn during her tenure. In addition to honors and recognitions, HMEC saw many changes under Paganelli's leadership. The Laboratory doubled in size and two new service lines were added in 2006 - Community Outreach Department and Center for Wound Care. The Radiology department began its expansion project to increase space and technology. Paganelli earned her bachelors degree in biology at the University of Texas in Austin and her Master of Science degree in healthcare administration from Texas Woman's University. She is a diplomate with the American College of Healthcare Executives. Prior to joining HMEC, Paganelli served as Chief Operating Officer of Alice Regional Hospital and Vice President of Memorial Medical Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. Paganelli is a 2005 graduate of the Leadership Stephenville program. She also serves on various committees and task groups within THR including chair of the Red Vision Team and Community Health Advisory Council.

Shawn Tindell, RN, BC, is the program manager. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington. Her specialties include nursing professional development and med-surg nursing. She is also board certified by the American Nursing Credentialing Center in both areas. She has been with Harris Methodist H E B Hospital more than twenty years.

Courtney Assir, RD, LD, CDE, is a full-time dietitian program educator who has been certified since 2000. Assir came to HMHEB from Atlanta, Georgia, where she worked with a large children's diabetes program. Assir is well versed in all aspects of diabetes and brings experience to the program. She has also been trained as a certified insulin pump trainer.

Jennifer Williams graduated from Texas Woman's University, in Denton, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1988. She has worked at Harris Methodist H E B Hospital since 1998, and has more than 19 years of experience as an NICU/Nursery nurse. Jennifer has been a manager for seven years.

Jenny Ellis is the Oncology Nurse Specialist on the Oncology Care Unit. Jenny has been with Harris Methodist HEB Hospital since 1997. She received her master's degree in nursing from Northern Illinois University. She has national certification as an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse and as a Trainer for the Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course. Jenny is active in the American Cancer Society, the Nurse Oncology Education Program, and was the past president of the Oncology Nursing Society Fort Worth Chapter.

Karen Bruner, RN, CDE, is the program coordinator. She received her nursing degree in Missouri and became a Certified Diabetes Educator in May of 2001. Bruner brings experience from both a dialysis setting, as well as an Indian Reservation clinic. She is also a certified insulin pump trainer. Carol Lowery, is the administrative assistant. She has been with the Harris Methodist H E B Hospital Diabetes Center since May 2002. She provides support to the program Manager, clinical coordinator and the diabetes educators. Carol came to HMHEB from a medical center in Oklahoma where she managed the support services in the Cardiology department. Missy Mauderer, RN, CDE, is a part-time diabetes educator. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in nursing at Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida. She has been a certified diabetes educator since October 1998 and is certified in insulin pump training.

Linda Wood, RD, LD, CDE, is a part-time dietitian program educator. She's been a certified diabetes educator for five years and is currently working toward becoming a certified insulin pump trainer. Wood has worked with several large diabetes programs and is specialized in many areas.

Marsha Blackman graduated with honors from the University of Oklahoma in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. Marsha has worked at Harris Methodist H E B Hospital since 1988. She has worked as a staff nurse, charge nurse, assistant head nurse, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit nurse educator and head nurse. Marsha also holds a National Certification as a Certified Pediatric Nurse.

Wendy Wallace, RD, LD, CDE, is a part-time dietitian educator. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in nutrition at Texas A&M University. In October 2000, she received her certification as a diabetes educator and is a certified pump trainer. Specializing in the areas of oncology and diabetes, her experience includes nutrition education in outpatient and inpatient settings.
