Dr. Hayes is an expert in evidence-based health technology assessment of new, emerging, or controversial health technologies. She founded Hayes, Inc. in 1989. Through her business acumen and disciplined focus, Hayes has become one of the most respected health technology assessment organizations in the United States. In response to the explosive growth of internal and external medical review within the healthcare industry, Dr. Hayes formed Hayes Plus, a national Independent Review Organization, in June 1999. She sold the company in October 2005 after it was firmly established in the marketplace. Dr. Hayes serves on the Board of Directors for URAC, the national accrediting body for healthcare organizations. She is also a member of Health Technology Assessment International, Women Business Leaders of the U.S. Health Care Industry Foundation, and Vistage (formerly TEC), an international organization of CEOs dedicated to increasing the effectiveness of chief executives and those they influence. In addition, she lectures to managed care organizations and healthcare associations throughout the United States. In November 2000, Dr. Hayes was the recipient of the Women of Distinction Award in the Greater Philadelphia area and was selected as one of "Pennsylvania's Best 50 Women in Business" in April 2001. Both award programs acknowledge the personal and professional achievements of Pennsylvania businesswomen and their contributions to our economy. Dr. Hayes received her BS and MS in Nursing from the University of Maryland and her PhD in Environmental Health Sciences from Johns Hopkins University. Her clinical experiences have included work in trauma, critical care, acute care, occupational health, and ambulatory care settings.

Dr. Susan A. Levine is responsible for managing the medical technology assessment program for Hayes. She has extensive experience in the development of evidence-based practice guidelines, coverage policy, and medical technology assessments. Dr. Levine also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Hayes Medical Technology Directory and the Hayes Alert monthly newsletter. Dr. Levine formerly served as Senior Medical Research Analyst and Director of Outsource Contracts for Hayes. Before joining Hayes, Dr. Levine was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minnesota. She received an MS from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and a PhD in Pharmacology from Cornell University, and completed postgraduate work in the Division of Gastroenterology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she was a member of the faculty and conducted biomedical research. Dr. Levinea s publications include almost two dozen peer-reviewed articles, along with numerous chapters, articles, editorials, and abstracts. She holds memberships in the American Veterinary Medical Association, New York State Veterinary Medical Association, the Comparative Gastroenterology Society, and the American Medical Writers Association.

Ms. Dietrich has over 25 years experience in the accounting field. She is responsible for the direction, coordination and overall management of the Accounting Department. Ms. Dietrich oversees the operations in connection with financial matters including accounts receivable and payable and payroll; trains and supervises departmental staff; develops and initiates systems, policies and procedures for transacting financial matters, and in coordination with the contracted CPA, ensures that the financial system is accurate, efficient, and in accordance with professional accounting practices and governmental regulations. Ms. Dietrich earned her BS degree in Accounting at the University of Bridgeport, a BA in Geology at Guilford College and an MS degree in Geology at Lehigh University.

Dr. Diane Hayes supports new product development by providing market research, marketing and sales support, and assisting with content development. Dr. Hayes also provides company-wide support for primary research needs as they relate to satisfaction surveys, market research on a particular topic, and product enhancement or development. Dr. Hayes' background and experience in technology assessment and evidence-based medicine contribute to the launch of new products by providing insights at the content development, market, and end-user levels. Dr. Hayes' relationship with Hayes, Inc. spans a number of years and during that time she served as Vice President of Technology Assessment and as a consultant, with ongoing membership on the Editorial Board of the Hayes alert Newsletter. She previously held the position of Senior Vice President of Content and Editor-in-Chief for MedPanel, Inc. and has been a co-investigator on two National Institutes of Health randomized, controlled trials, including the Women's Health Initiative. Dr. Hayes' publications include over 12 peer-reviewed articles in addition to numerous presentations and abstracts. She holds memberships in Health Technology Assessment International (formerly ISTAHC), Society for Epidemiologic Research, American Public Health Association, and Information Associates Program of the International Cancer Information Center. Dr. Hayes received a BA in Sociology from Stetson University and her MA and PhD in Medical Sociology from the University of Illinois. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship on cancer epidemiology at State University of New York at Buffalo and Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Mr. Shawn Brown has over 20 years of sales and management experience in the healthcare industry. He is responsible for sales and marketing activities targeted at hospitals, health systems, and managed care. He also assumes responsibility and accountability for meeting revenue goals, monitoring industry and competitive developments, overseeing the company's marketing and communications programs, managing client and prospect relationships, and supervising the sales and marketing staff. Prior to joining Hayes, Mr. Brown held positions with Accredo Health, Inc., Gentiva Health, and Apria Healthcare. He received a BA in Psychology from Rutgers University.

Mr. Todd A. Bucher has worked in the field of business technology for over 15 years, and his expertise encompasses a diverse range of information technologies within multiple industry settings. He specializes in short- and long-term technology direction, the formation and leadership of software development teams, and project management covering the complete product life cycle. Mr. Buchera s responsibilities at Hayes include the development and implementation of strategic IT initiatives that drive business innovation. He also leads the IT staff in supporting corporate initiatives and day-to-day operations, including product development, user support, and vendor management. Prior to joining Hayes, Mr. Bucher held positions with several healthcare-related organizations, such as Digital Insurance, Healthaxis, and Shared Medical Systems. He received his BS in Business Administration and Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh.

Ms. Amy Kottler holds an RN degree and practiced nursing in the oncology and cardiology units of a teaching hospital. She also holds an MA in History, and is certified in secondary education. Ms. Kottler worked for 13 years in the managed care setting where she directed medical specialty referral and utilization review activities, and developed in-service training programs for professional staff. She later joined the Technology Management Information Exchange (TEMINEX), a health technology assessment program that served a national consortium of health maintenance organizations. She brings more than 18 years of managed care and teaching experience to her role as Managing Editor of Hayes Outlook.

Ms. Young is the Director of Production for Hayes, Inc. Her responsibilities include management and oversight of the production of all Hayes products. Ms. Young manages the production of all health technology assessment reports and their posting to the Hayes subscriber website. She serves on the Product Enhancement Committee which is responsible for product improvements and updates that are a direct result of client feedback. Ms. Young has been with Hayes, Inc. for 14 years and has been instrumental in implementing a number of organizational strategies that have resulted in automated processes for improving workflow and reducing production costs.

Sharon T. Constans is Director of Clinical Support Services for Hayes, Inc. Her responsibilities include helping clients to use Hayes products, searching the biomedical literature and government and related medical websites to provide answers to questions from clients, and responding to inquiries from manufacturers, providers, and consumers. Ms. Constans also provides clinical support and educational materials to the sales staff at Hayes. In addition, she participates in the Hayes Continuous Quality Improvement program by helping to establish and maintain departmental policies and procedures. Ms. Constans has over 20 years experience in nursing, nursing administration, and nursing supervision in the areas of surgical critical care, inpatient parenteral and enteral nutritional support, outpatient IV therapy, nursing staff and patient education, and home health nursing care. She also has considerable experience in new clinical program development and implementation and in clinical customer support in the fields of health technology assessment and independent medical review. Ms. Constans received her BS in Nursing from the University of Virginia School of Nursing; she received her MS in Medical/Surgical Nursing with Clinical Specialization in general surgery and critical care from the University of Virginia School of Graduate Nursing.

Arlene Mann is the Medical Editor for the Hayes onhealth Website, and a Medical Analyst and Project Manager for Hayes, Inc. As Medical Editor of Hayes onhealth, Ms. Mann ensures the medical accuracy and quality of all Hayes onhealth reports, Resource Center articles, and Latest Development items. She also provides medical editing support for our WorldDoc+Hayes onhealth product. Ms. Mann's additional responsibilities include serving as a medical analyst for the Hayes medical technology directory, and she has participated in many consulting projects involving clinical outcomes and guidelines. Ms. Mann's professional healthcare background includes biomedical research and over 20 years experience as a registered nurse and manager in clinical and managed care settings. Her interests include population medicine and emerging technology. A member of the American Medical Writers' Association, Ms. Mann is a graduate of the Chestnut Hill Hospital School of Nursing. Before joining Hayes, she served as Group Health Guidelines Manager for the Center for Clinical Outcomes and Guidelines and Director of Nursing for the Medical Department of Intracorp, a subsidiary of CIGNA Healthcare.

Elisabeth Kato, Senior Medical Research Analyst, is an international researcher, author, and presenter. Over the last 20 years, she has studied and written about numerous medical, health, and sociological conditions and issues. From new medical technologies and treatments to human aging, Dr. Kato has been deeply embedded in the science of medical research. At Hayes, Dr. Kato works with hospitals to implement evidence-based assessment systems for medical technology adoption. She identifies emerging health technologies, assesses current evidence, writes reports, and provides content oversight for client support services. She also prepares and presents seminars on evidence-based technology acquisition and new technologies for infection control. Dr. Kato began her career in international development. She edited reports and drafted proposals for the Center for Women and Development in Nepal, designed textbooks for Site 2 refugee camp in Thailand, and spent four years in Cambodia, developing participatory research techniques and analyzing the repercussions of postwar construction, the effe

Jennifer E. Van Pelt, MA, is a Strategic Technology Planning Specialist and Senior Research Analyst for Hayes, Inc. She is responsible for researching and tracking overall health technology trends and the impact of new and emerging medical technologies for the Hayes horizon scanning service, Technology Prognosis. Ms. Van Pelt also creates and delivers educational seminars on horizon scanning methodology and emerging technology trends, and supports other Hayes products and custom research projects. As Strategic Technology Planning Specialist, she also works on research and consulting projects for Hayes hospital clients. Ms. Van Pelt has more than 15 years of experience in health technology assessment, horizon scanning, hospital/health system consulting, and medical writing. Prior to working for Hayes, Inc., she managed a health technology forecasting service and researched and wrote technology assessment reports on emerging healthcare technologies. As a consultant, Ms. Van Pelt conducted strategic technology planning, equipment/facilities planning, and departmental productivity studies in hospitals and health systems, both in the United States and internationally.

Dr. Tira Pandolf is the Managing Editor for the Hayes onhealth Website. Her responsibilities include writing, updating and editing of reports, resource center articles, and latest development pieces for Hayes onhealth. Dr. Pandolf is also responsible for quality control of Hayes onhealth, product management, and shared management duties for WorldDoc+Hayes onhealth, a web-based health decision support tool. Dr. Pandolf holds BS and MS degrees in animal science, and a PhD in Food Science from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Before joining Hayes, Inc. in 2001, Dr. Pandolf was Undergraduate Director of the Food Systems and Technology program, Undergraduate Director of Field Experience for the Food Systems and Technology program, and Assistant Professor within the Food and Nutrition Department at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Dr. Pandolf received two Outstanding Teacher awards within her first and second year with the University. Her areas of research have included studying the role of dietary fiber in lowering cholesterol levels and dietary fiber's interaction with phytoestrogens.
